Mass corrections in decay and the role of distribution amplitudes
We consider mass correction effects on the polar angular distribution of a
baryon--antibaryon pair created in the chain decay process , generalizing a previous analysis of Carimalo. We show the
relevance of the features of the baryon distribution amplitudes and estimate

Evaluation of two lyophilized molecular assays to rapidly detect foot-and-mouth disease virus directly from clinical samples in field settings
Accurate, timely diagnosis is essential for the control, monitoring and eradication of footâandâmouth disease (FMD). Clinical samples from suspect cases are normally tested at reference laboratories. However, transport of samples to these centralized facilities can be a lengthy process that can impose delays on critical decision making. These concerns have motivated work to evaluate simpleâtoâuse technologies, including molecularâbased diagnostic platforms, that can be deployed closer to suspect cases of FMD. In this context, FMD virus (FMDV)âspecific reverse transcription loopâmediated isothermal amplification (RTâLAMP) and realâtime RTâPCR (rRTâPCR) assays, compatible with simple sample preparation methods and in situ visualization, have been developed which share equivalent analytical sensitivity with laboratoryâbased rRTâPCR. However, the lack of robust âreadyâtoâuse kitsâ that utilize stabilized reagents limits the deployment of these tests into field settings. To address this gap, this study describes the performance of lyophilized rRTâPCR and RTâLAMP assays to detect FMDV. Both of these assays are compatible with the use of fluorescence to monitor amplification in realâtime, and for the RTâLAMP assays end point detection could also be achieved using molecular lateral flow devices. Lyophilization of reagents did not adversely affect the performance of the assays. Importantly, when these assays were deployed into challenging laboratory and field settings within East Africa they proved to be reliable in their ability to detect FMDV in a range of clinical samples from acutely infected as well as convalescent cattle. These data support the use of highly sensitive molecular assays into field settings for simple and rapid detection of FMDV
Irreducible Multiplets of Three-Quark Operators on the Lattice: Controlling Mixing under Renormalization
High luminosity accelerators have greatly increased the interest in
semi-exclusive and exclusive reactions involving nucleons. The relevant
theoretical information is contained in the nucleon wavefunction and can be
parametrized by moments of the nucleon distribution amplitudes, which in turn
are linked to matrix elements of three-quark operators. These can be calculated
from first principles in lattice QCD. However, on the lattice the problems of
operator mixing under renormalization are rather involved. In a systematic
approach we investigate this issue in depth. Using the spinorial symmetry group
of the hypercubic lattice we derive irreducibly transforming three-quark
operators, which allow us to control the mixing pattern.Comment: 13 page
Baryon Tri-local Interpolating Fields
We systematically investigate tri-local (non-local) three-quark baryon fields
with U_L(2)*U_R(2) chiral symmetry, according to their Lorentz and isospin
(flavor) group representations. We note that they can also be called as
"nucleon wave functions" due to this full non-locality. We study their chiral
transformation properties and find all the possible chiral multiplets
consisting J=1/2 and J=3/2 baryon fields. We find that the axial coupling
constant |g_A| = 5/3 is only for nucleon fields belonging to the chiral
representation (1/2,1)+(1,1/2) which contains both nucleon fields and Delta
fields. Moreover, all the nucleon fields belonging to this representation have
|g_A| = 5/3.Comment: 8 pages, 3 tables, accepted by EPJ
Oscillatory wave fronts in chains of coupled nonlinear oscillators
Wave front pinning and propagation in damped chains of coupled oscillators
are studied. There are two important thresholds for an applied constant stress
: for (dynamic Peierls stress), wave fronts fail to propagate,
for stable static and moving wave fronts coexist, and
for (static Peierls stress) there are only stable moving wave
fronts. For piecewise linear models, extending an exact method of Atkinson and
Cabrera's to chains with damped dynamics corroborates this description. For
smooth nonlinearities, an approximate analytical description is found by means
of the active point theory. Generically for small or zero damping, stable wave
front profiles are non-monotone and become wavy (oscillatory) in one of their

A systematic review and qualitative synthesis of weight management interventions for people with spinal cord injury
People with spinal cord injury (SCI) are at greater risk of developing obesity and related co-morbidities than those without SCI. The objectives of this systematic review were to examine the effectiveness of weight management interventions for people with SCI and to synthesize the experiences of people involved with SCI weight management (e.g., SCI healthcare professionals and caregivers). Five databases were searched (up to July 31, 2023) and 5,491 potentially eligible articles were identified. Following screening, 22 articles were included, comprising 562 adults. There was considerable heterogeneity in study design and weight loss interventions included behavioral nutritional and exercise education sessions, recalling food diaries, exercise interventions, and pharmaceuticals. The mean percentage change of the pooled body mass data equated to â4.0â±â2.3%, with a range from â0.5 to â7.6%. In addition, 38% of the individuals with SCI who completed a weight loss intervention (Nâ=â262) had a â„5% reduction in body weight. Collectively, although on average the included interventions led to moderate weight loss, the finding that just over a third of individuals achieved clinically meaningful 5% weight loss suggests that available interventions for this population may need to be improved
Real and Virtual Compton Scattering off the Nucleon
A review is given of the very recent developments in the fields of real and
virtual Compton scattering off the nucleon. Both real and virtual Compton
scattering reactions are discussed at low outgoing photon energy where one
accesses polarizabilities of the nucleon. The real Compton scattering at large
momentum transfer is discussed which is asymptotically a tool to obtain
information on the valence quark wave function of the nucleon. The rapid
developments in deeply virtual Compton scattering and associated meson
electroproduction reactions at high energy, high photon virtuality and small
momentum transfer to the nucleon are discussed. A unified theoretical
description of those processes has emerged over the last few years, which gives
access to new, generalized parton distributions. The experimental status and
perspectives in these fields are also discussed.Comment: 25 pages, 17 figure

Confirmation of a pi_1^0 Exotic Meson in the \eta \pi^0 System
The exclusive reaction , at 18 GeV has been studied with a partial wave analysis on a sample
of 23~492 events from BNL experiment E852. A mass-dependent fit
is consistent with a resonant hypothesis for the wave, thus providing
evidence for a neutral exotic meson with , a mass of MeV, and a width of MeV. New
interpretations of the meson exotics in neutral system observed in
E852 and Crystal Barrel experiments are discussed.Comment: p3, rewording the paragraph (at the bottom) about the phase
variations. p4, rewording paragrath "The second method ..." . p4, at the
bottom of paragrath "The third method ..." added consistent with the results
of methods 1 and 2
Exotic Meson Production in the System observed in the Reaction at 18 GeV/c
This letter reports results from the partial wave analysis of the
final state in collisions at 18GeV/c.
Strong evidence is observed for production of two mesons with exotic quantum
numbers of spin, parity and charge conjugation, in the decay
channel . The mass MeV/c^2 and
width MeV/c^2 of the first state are consistent
with the parameters of the previously observed . The second
resonance with mass MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2 agrees very well with predictions from theoretical
models. In addition, the presence of is confirmed with mass MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2
and a new state, , is observed with mass
MeV/c^2 and width MeV/c^2. The decay properties of
these last two states are consistent with flux tube model predictions for
hybrid mesons with non-exotic quantum numbers
