Suppression of allograft rejection with FK506: I. prolonged cardiac and liver survival in rats following short-course therapy

    Get PDF
Heterotopic heart and orthotopic liver grafts from ACI donors were transplanted to Lewis rat recipients that were treated with a 3 (or 4) day course of FK506 IM that was started on postoperative day 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Hearts, which rejected after a median of 6 days in untreated controls, always had prolonged survival (median 91 days) when treatment was started on postoperative day 4. The results were inferior when treatment was started earlier or later than this, but even when the first dose of FK506 was on postoperative day 5, one day before rejection was imminent in controls, the median survival was 50 days. The poorest results with a median graft survival of only 36 days were obtained when injections were on days 0–3. Results were similar with liver grafts that rejected after a median time of 10 days in nontreated controls but that usually survived permanently after a 3 (or 4) day FK506 course starting on day 0, 2, 3, or 4. Therapy started on day 6 was too late. © 1990 by Williams & Wilkins

Van der Waals bond lengths and electronic spectral shifts of the benzene---Kr and benzene---Xe complexes

    Get PDF
Rotationally resolved UV-spectra are presented for the 610 bands of benzene---Kr and benzene---Xe complexes yielding precise rotational constants and van der Waals bond lengths for the ground and excited vibronic state, and electronic band shifts. These value complement the previously published data for the other rare gases and the various quantities have now been determined for all the benzene—rare gas complexes. Measured values of the bond length were used to calculate the band shifts from recent theoretical predictions. They are compared with the experimental values of this work

    Method for Trace Oxygen Detection

    Get PDF
Trace levels of molecular oxygen are measured by introducing a gas containing the molecular oxygen into a target zone, and impacting the molecular oxygen in the target zone with electrons at the O(-) resonant energy level for dissociative electron attachment to produce O(-) ions. Preferably, the electrons have an energy of about 4 to about 10 eV. The amount of O(-) ions produced is measured, and is correlated with the molecular oxygen content in the target zone. The technique is effective for measuring levels of oxygen below 50 ppb. and even less than 1 ppb. The amount of O(-) can be measured in a quadrupole mass analyzer. Best results are obtained when the electrons have an energy of about 6 to about 8 eV. and preferably about 6.8 eV. The method can be used for other species by selecting the appropriate electron energy level

Implementation Problems in the Development of Urban Community Services in the People\u27s Republic of China: The Case of Beijing

    Get PDF
To review the ten year implementation of the community service policy of the People\u27s Republic of China, community service implementers and academics located in Beijing were interviewed. By employing implementation theories as a framework of analysis, a number of implementation problems are identified. In terms of policy characteristics and the structuring of implementation, this case shows that the objectives are not specific enough. The decentralized implementation strategy allows the implementers too much discretionary power. The shortage of qualified and motivated personnel further complicate the issue. Lastly, the policy environment of Beijing does not lend adequate support to the policy

Kata kunci: efikasi diri, kepuasan kerja, dan komitmen organisasi/ The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of self-efficacy and job satisfaction on organizational commitment for primary and junior high school teachers. The study was conducted using quantitative research design and correlation model. The population in this study were 203 primary and junior high school SPK local teachers in Cengkarng and Kalideres sub-districts. Krejcie & Morgan table was used to determine the number of samples. The sample of this study was 118 teachers from 4 SPK schools. The data were obtained by distributing questionnaire and analyzed by Pearson Product Moment. The results of the research showed that (1) The effect of self-efficacy on Teachers’ organizational commitment was 11,9% and the t count value was 3,954 (greater than t table 1,98063) which meant that the regression equation was very significant: y = 1,986+0,360 X. (2) Job satisfaction significantly affected teachers’ organizational commitment by 50,4%: t count was 10,855 (greater than t table 1,98063) which meant that the regression equation was significant: y = 0,848+0,667 X. (3) Self-efficacy and Job satisfaction simultaneously affected teachers’ organizational commitment by 51.9% and 48,1% of that commitment was affected by other variables which not included in the research.
