    New analytical expressions for the dynamic resistance,transconductance,base-collector internal capacitance,and base-emitter internal capacitance are derived.And a new scheme,to extract the current source parameters,thermal parameter,and small signal parameters at multiple bias points on the normal active region,is developed.The proposed parameter extraction method is robust and very fast.Based on these equations, we propose a new scheme to find out the optimal solution by searching for a full-unknown parameter space.The search space corresponds to 1.17x10 8 points on the error surface, and it takes 12.6 hours to get an optimal model parameters using a 2GHz-desktop PC.This scheme is helpful for the modeling of HBT excluding the local minimum problem in the gradient optimization method and the inaccuracies in the direct extraction method

    The timing of disability insurance application: a choice-based semiparametric hazard model

    We use a choice-based subsample of Social Security Disability Insurance applicants from the 1978 Social Security Survey of Disability and Work to test the importance of policy variables on the timing of application for disability insurance benefits following the onset of a work limiting health condition. We correct for choice-based sampling by extending the Manski-Lerman (1977) correction to the likelihood function of our continuous time hazard model defined with semiparametric unmeasured heterogeneity and find that this correction significantly affects the results. We find that economic variables-the size of the disability benefit, expected wage earnings and accommodation-matter.Insurance ; Social security

    We first define a quantity exhibiting the usefulness of bipartite quantum states for teleportation, called the quantum teleportation capability, and then investigate its restricted shareability in multi-party quantum systems. In this work, we verify that the quantum teleportation capability has a monogamous property in its shareability for arbitrary three-qutrit pure states by employing the monogamy inequality in terms of the negativity.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

    Single image example-based super-resolution using cross-scale patch matching and Markov random field modelling

    Example-based super-resolution has become increasingly popular over the last few years for its ability to overcome the limitations of classical multi-frame approach. In this paper we present a new example-based method that uses the input low-resolution image itself as a search space for high-resolution patches by exploiting self-similarity across different resolution scales. Found examples are combined in a high-resolution image by the means of Markov Random Field modelling that forces their global agreement. Additionally, we apply back-projection and steering kernel regression as post-processing techniques. In this way, we are able to produce sharp and artefact-free results that are comparable or better than standard interpolation and state-of-the-art super-resolution techniques

    Reduction of critical temperatures in pure and thoriated UBe13 by columnar defects

    We investigate the influence of columnar defects on the superconducting transition temperatures of pure and thoriated UBe13. The defects cause all the transitions to widen and to drop slightly in temperature. Quantitatively, the single UBe13 transition resembles the lower transition in a sample with 3% thorium more closely than the upper thoriated transition.Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure.     Adaptive Detection of Instabilities: An Experimental Feasibility Study

    We present an example of the practical implementation of a protocol for experimental bifurcation detection based on on-line identification and feedback control ideas. The idea is to couple the experiment with an on-line computer-assisted identification/feedback protocol so that the closed-loop system will converge to the open-loop bifurcation points. We demonstrate the applicability of this instability detection method by real-time, computer-assisted detection of period doubling bifurcations of an electronic circuit; the circuit implements an analog realization of the Roessler system. The method succeeds in locating the bifurcation points even in the presence of modest experimental uncertainties, noise and limited resolution. The results presented here include bifurcation detection experiments that rely on measurements of a single state variable and delay-based phase space reconstruction, as well as an example of tracing entire segments of a codimension-1 bifurcation boundary in two parameter space.Comment: 29 pages, Latex 2.09, 10 figures in encapsulated postscript format (eps), need psfig macro to include them.
