Adoption of a Social Learning Platform in Higher Education: An Extended UTAUT Model Implementation

    Get PDF
The aim of this research is to investigate the factors influencing the adoption of a social learning platform called PairForm using an extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model. The UTAUT extension consists of adding three personal characteristics of students, namely autonomy, anxiety, and attitude. Data obtained from 85 French-speaking students and 14 English-speaking students at the Skema Business School, a higher education institution, showed good reliability coefficients and satisfactory convergent and discriminant validities. Regression analysis suggests the facilitating conditions construct is the main predictor of behavioral intention to use and behavioral use of PairForm. Attitude is the only personal characteristic that explains behavioral intention to use. In the light of these results, we propose recommendations that, if implemented, could create more favorable conditions for the use of social learning technologies

Tertiary Study on the Use of Artificial Intelligence for Service Delivery: A Bibliometric Analysis of Systematic Literature Reviews

Despite the large number of systematic literature reviews (SLRs) on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for service delivery, scholars suggest more scientific evidence. However, the direction that these reviews will take depends on the knowledge accumulated in the existing literature. Therefore, the objective of this research is to explore SLRs that have synthesized the use of AI for service delivery. We conducted a tertiary study, which consists of a bibliometric analysis of SLRs. We searched SLRs published over the last ten years in six bibliographic databases. Sixty-six studies meeting the inclusion criteria were processed through a bibliometric analysis in which we combined article metadata with data extracted from the full-text review. The results describe the publication trends of SLRs, their application domains, and the particularities of the private and public sectors. Recommendations for future SLRs on the use of AI for service delivery are proposed

University Students’ Perception of the Pedagogical Use of Podcasts: A Case Study of an Online Information System Course

Previous studies on podcasting assessed the usage impact of this technology on some cognitive and affective variables such as learning, performance efficiency, satisfaction and anxiety. However, these studies assumed that students had adopted podcasting without questioning their opinions. In order to reach a deeper understanding of students’ perception of podcasting, this study aimed at examining two aspects: the advantages and the disadvantages of podcast use. A case study relying on open-ended questions was conducted among 130 participants enrolled in an online undergraduate business course. Obtained results indicated that practical aspects of use of this technology, such as improving attention and facilitating note-taking, dominated among the advantages. Lack of interaction and visual contact was one of the most notable disadvantages. This study could help enrich existing theoretical writings and empirical research about podcasts. It practical contributions would lead professors and educational tool creators to think about the relevance of developing and using podcasts for academic purposes

The relevance to invest in new technologies, such as Podcasting, to support the universities teaching approaches is the object of interest of several research in training and education. The aim of this research is to assess empirically the efficiency of a mixed-mode educational formula using the Podcasting technology. A sample of 192 students enrolled in an online course, with access to audio records of the in-class course filled the online questionnaire. One-way ANOVA were done to compare different groups obtained from the sample. Results show that students who listened to Podcasts demonstrated a deeper learning and a greater satisfaction than those who did not. The same results are obtained for students who listened to audio records and did not go to the course in class compared to those who did not listen to audio records and were absent from the class. Using stakes consciousness to better understand information security awareness

    No full text
Several studies have identified employees within organizations as the weakest link in information security. Although many measures are in place to stimulate employee interest in cyber security, the challenge seems not always at the organizational level but sometimes at the employee behavioral level. In this study, we develop a construct named stakes consciousness to provide a better understanding of employee information security awareness within organizations. We focus on employees\u27 origins and environments to explain their risk averseness and understand their information security awareness. We use the characteristics of organizations, such as the firm sector, sector density, and network centrality, to explain the importance of employees\u27 information security awareness. Finally, we provide an overview of the application of this construct in technological, organizational, and individual contexts
