Efficacy of a musical tooth brushing drill in maintenance of oral hygiene among children at a correctional institute in Bengaluru city
Introduction: Tooth brushing plays a vital role in effective plaque control, which depends on the method and the ease with which it is adopted. It is known that one of the major factors that lead to the occurrence of dental caries is the action of microorganisms. These micro-organisms harbor themselves onto tooth structure in form of bio-film, thus leading to the formation of dental plaque. Material and Methods: A total of 130 children in the correctional home were screened and divided into control and intervention groups with 30 subjects each. The children will be assessed for baseline plaque scores using the using Turesky–Gilmore– Glickman modification of the Quigley–Hein plaque index. The plaque was assessed on the labial, buccal, and lingual surfaces of all the teeth after using a disclosing agent. The scores are given: 0: No plaque; 1: Separate flecks of plaque at the cervical margin of the tooth; 2: A thin continuous band of plaque (up to 1 mm) at the cervical margin; 3: A band of plaque wider than 1 mm but covering less than one-third of the crown of the tooth; 4: Plaque covering at least onethird but less than two-thirds of the crown; 5: Plaque covering two-thirds or more of the crown. The participants were subjected to a music and action routine for tooth brushing. Repetitive exercise for two weeks was done to condition the participants. Plaque scores were assessed using a two-tone disclosing agent at baseline, at the end of a two-week training drill, and four-week follow-up where the participants were asked to brush by themselves without any supervision. Results: The difference in the mean dental plaque scores from baseline to the 30th day was found to be statistically significant among the intervention group. (p= <0.001). On intragroup comparison, the differences in the reduction of these plaque scores over time from baseline to the 15th day were statistically significant (p=<0.001). The intergroup comparison was statistically significant at baseline (p=0.044). There was a significant difference on the 15th day (p=0.041) and on the 30th day (p=0.040). Conclusion: The present study proves that there was a significant reduction in plaque scores (p=<0.001) for a month with the use of a tooth brushing drill for two weeks under supervision. This shows behavior modification and healthy habit formation among the children. This also shows that children can be motivated and trained using music and simple drills

′Sutureless′ transconjunctival approach for infraorbital rim fractures
Aim: To analyze the ease and surgical outcome of using sutureless transconjunctival approach for repair of infra-orbital fractures. Design: Prospective clinical case series. Materials and Methods: Totally 5 patients with infra-orbital rim or orbital floor fractures were selected and the fractures were accessed through a pre-septal transconjunctival incision. After reduction and fixation, the conjunctiva was just re-approximated and re-draped into position. Incidence of post-operative complications such as diplopia, lid retraction, eyelid dystopia, foreign body granuloma and poor conjunctival healing was assessed at intervals of 1 week, 15 days and a month post-operatively. Results: No complications were observed in any of the 5 patients. Healing was satisfactory in all patients. Conclusion: The sutureless technique appears to be a time saving and technically simpler viable alternative to multilayered suturing in orbital trauma with minimal post-operative complications

Sensing Users Emotional Intelligence in Social Networks
In this age of constant digital communication and social interaction, people are paying a lot of attention to how users' emotional intelligence affects their interactions and well-being on social networks. This research investigates the application of information systems and telecommunications technologies in the detection and analysis of users' emotional intelligence within the realm of social networks. The concept of emotional intelligence, which involves the capacity to notice, comprehend, regulate, and use emotions in a proficient manner, has significant importance in influencing encounters and relationships in the online domain. This article explores potential models of emotional intelligence based on sentiment analysis of social network data. Self-awareness, self-regulation, intrinsic motivation, and interpersonal connections are based on four principles. These four-dimensional models aggregate four numerical indicators to quantify emotional quotient. This study uses Twitter, a popular social network, to predict emotional intelligence in individuals or groups. This finding assesses users' emotional intelligence using four variables and shows their positive, negative, and neutral sentiments. The program we are developing is based on uploading Twitter datasets and forecasting emotional intelligence using algorithms and tools based on tweets, retweets, and followers, among other scenarios. The four dimensions allow us to feel emotions. Twitter datasets are in text files with JSON data
Formulation And Evaluation Of Dutasteride Coated Microneedles For The Treatment Of Hair Loss
Coated microneedles have been shown to deliver proteins and DNA into the skin in a minimum invasive manner. Still, detailed studies of preparing coated microneedles and their breadth of applicability are lacking. Male androgenetic alopecia is the most commonly known form of scalp hair loss in men and as a part of hormone therapy in transgender women. Till now, in India dutasteride is marketed as a topical solution in an aqueous vehicle in the treatment of alopecia. A high percentage of alcohol present in marketed formulations as a permeation enhancer was known to damaged hair, hair follicle, and scalp epidermal cells due to dehydration. The goal of the study was to enhance the permeation of drugs with the aid of microneedles, thus reducing the concentration of alcohol and damage of scalp cells. A microsyringe was used to coat each needle present on the roller. Coated microneedles were studied for coating uniformity, in-vitro drug release. The drug release profile of coated microneedles was found to be comparable with the marketed solution of minoxidil of the same strength
Knowledge, attitude, and practice of teledentistry in periodontal diagnosis: Is it the required upgrade to conventional periodontics?
Background: Teledentistry which is similar to telemedicine has emerged as a new tool for various dental disciplines. Teleperiodontics is a branch of telehealth which focuses on the application of digital communication technology into the field of periodontics without demanding a specialist presence. An early detection and diagnosis of periodontal conditions can not only treat the disease in its early stage but also prolong the health of the periodontium, thereby improving the overall quality of life of an individual. However, teledentistry has not penetrated into the field of periodontics to a level it has to in providing periodontal care. Hence, the aim of this questionnaire study was to assess the knowledge, attitude, and application of teleperiodontics into everyday practice among the dental surgeons at various levels. Materials and Methods: An electronic questionnaire consisting of 29 close-ended questions including sections assessing the knowledge, attitude, and practice of teledentistry and teleperiodontics was sent to dental colleges present in East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh. Results: A total of 350 responses were received and 80.57% dental surgeons were aware about teledentistry, and a total of 74% dental surgeons were likely to prescribe oral hygiene aids and medication for temporary management of periodontal conditions. Conclusion: Teleperiodontics is an emerging science whose knowledge, attitude, and application are yet to be explored

Data regarding their knowledge and attitude in relation to sugar content in medicine was obtained using a questionnaire. Results: Around 67.9% of the pharmacists agreed that sugar-containing medicines taken long-term could lead to dental problems. Only 12.9% of pharmacists believed that patient prefer sugar-free medicine. Most of the pharmacists (72.9%) felt that they themselves have an important role in educating people about sugar containing medicine. Conclusions: Pharmacists requires further knowledge about sugar-free medicine. The expansion of the pharmacist role in oral health promotion would be of value to patients/customers. Various methods should be adopted to increase pharmacist knowledge about dental health
Influence of Microplastics on Seedling Growth of Blackgram under Different Soil Types
The prevalence of microplastics in soil has recently attracted substantial interest as they pose a major threat to agricultural system. A pot experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of polyethylene microplastics (PE-MPs) on seedling development of blackgram (Vigna mungo L.) in two different types of soil during April, 2022 under controlled conditions in the Department of Environmental Sciences, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, India. The treatments included four different concentrations of PE-MPs (0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00%) along with a control which had no microplastics. All the treatments were replicated thrice. In loamy soil type, germination rate declined from 87.1±0.57 (control) to 73.1±0.33 (1.00% PE-MPs) and in clay loam soil, from 83.3±3.08 (control) to 79.8±0.03 (1.00% PE-MPs). Similarly root and shoot characteristics also showed distinct reduction along with increasing microplastics concentrations. Hence, the results of the study reveal that soil type has influence over the magnitude of variations in blackgram growth parameters in the presence of polyethylene microplastics
