Vacuum Wave Functional of Pure Yang-Mills Theory and Dimensional Reduction

Working in a Hamiltonian formulation with A0=0A_0 = 0 gauge and also in a path integral formulation, we show that the vacuum wave functional of four-dimensional pure Yang-Mills theory has the form of the exponential of a {\it three}-dimensional Yang-Mills action. This result implies that vacuum expectation values can be calculated in Yang-Mills theory but one dimension lower. Our analysis reveals that this dimensional reduction results from a stochastic nature of the theory.Comment: 11 pages, LaTeX fil

Analysis of the Wheeler-DeWitt Equation beyond Planck Scale and Dimensional Reduction

We solve the Wheeler-DeWitt equation for {\it four}-dimensional Einstein gravity as an expansion in powers of the Planck mass by means of a heat kernel regularization. Our results suggest that in the universe with a very small radius or with a very large curvature beyond a Planck scale expectation values of operators are reduced to calculations in a path integral representation of {\it three}-dimensional Einstein gravity.Comment: 9 pages, latex file, KOBE-TH-94-0

The prevalence of insomnia and restless legs syndrome among Japanese outpatients with rheumatic disease: A cross-sectional study

The prevalence of symptomatic insomnia and the prevalence of restless legs syndrome (RLS) are known to be higher among patients with rheumatic diseases compared to the general population. The prevalences of insomnia and RLS reported in a questionnaire by Japanese patients with rheumatic diseases at an outpatient clinic were analyzed herein. The association between the patients\u27 disease activity and their sleep quality was analyzed. Of 121 rheumatic disease patients, 70 were enrolled. The median (interquartile range) age at enrollment was 62.0 (47.8-68.0) years. There were 58 women (82.9%) and 12 men (17.1%), and 43 patients (61.4%) with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), nine (12.9%) with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and 18 (25.7%) with other rheumatic diseases. Twenty patients (28.6%) had one or more moderate-to-severe insomnia symptoms, and 10 (14.3%) were diagnosed with RLS. Among the patients with RA, the swollen joint count based on a 28-joint assessment (SJC28) was significantly higher in the insomnia group (n = 13) compared to the non-insomnia group (n = 30) (p = 0.006). A classification and regression tree (CART) analysis showed that the cut-off points of ?3 mg/day prednisolone (PSL) treatment and <16.54% as the transferrin saturation (TSAT) value would best predict RLS in rheumatic disease. Patients with rheumatic disease had a high prevalence of symptomatic insomnia and RLS. A higher dose of PSL and lower TSAT were associated with the occurrence of RLS. Copyright

This study added fermentation calcium L-lactate( CV calcium) in an everyday meal for resident of nursing home for the elderly in the long term and evaluated calcaneus by osteo-sono assessment index and we examined the effectiveness of the ingestion fermentation calcium L-lactate( CV calcium). We were not able to obtain a result indicating the effectiveness of the ingestion of fermentation calcium L-lactate( CV calcium), because a change was not seen in a result of the bone density measurement. However, it may be suggested that fermentation calcium L-lactate( CV calcium) is effective to easily take in calcium. The because it is easy to cook to have high water solubility and the taste of the meal does not change

Association of paraoxonase 1 gene polymorphism with Intima-Media Thickness (IMT) of the carotid arteries in japanese type 2 diabetic patients

Purpose: We investigated the association between paraoxonase 1 (PON1)-192 genotypes and intimamedia thickness (IMT) of carotid arteries in diabetic patients. Methods: One hundred and fifty-five Japanese type 2 diabetic patients aged from 40 to 79 years were enrolled in this study. Genotypes of the patients were determined using the PCR-RFLP method. The IMT of carotid arteries of the subjects was measured by ultrasound imaging. Results: The PON1 genotypes frequencies were as follows: 18QQ (0.116), 70QR (0.452) and 67RR (0.432). IMT values of the RR group were significantly greater (1.08±0.41 mm, n=67) than those of the Q group, which consisted of patients carrying one or two Q alleles (0.95±0.27 mm, n=88, P=0.023). There were no significant difference in the clinical characteristics between the two groups. Conclusion: The results indicate that the PON1-192RR genotype is associated with intima media thickening of the carotid arteries in diabetic patients

A-3year survey was performed with the precede/proceed model in Wachi-cho,Kyoto Prefecture,to plan comprehensive dietary support for the elderly. This survey provided the basic data to evaluate the methods of future dietary support for the community residents. Dietary guidance was regularly given, and measuresto improve this guidance were evaluated. Most subjects of this survey could perform regular daily activities without restrictions and with some degree of self-management. However, despite the annual increase in number of households consisting of only an elderly couple, the elderly subjects did not expect to live with their children. The project was conducted in terms of not only food intake but also quality of life,so that the details could adequately reflect the subjects to live all their remaining years in Wachi-cho. In addition,as the preced stage progressed, the number of participants in the fields of health, medicine, and welfare increased, which led to the establishment of a comprehensive policy by consensus

Strong Coupling Quantum Gravity and Physics beyond the Planck Scale

    Get PDF
We propose a renormalization prescription for the Wheeler-DeWitt equation of (3+1)-dimensional Einstein gravity and also propose a strong coupling expansion as an approximation scheme to probe quantum geometry at length scales much smaller than the Planck length. We solve the Wheeler-DeWitt equation to the second order in the expansion in a class of local solutions and discuss problems arising in our approach.Comment: 27 pages, LaTeX file. 新型コロナウイルスを中和するアルパカ抗体 --マウス実験で有効性を確認--. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2023-02-17.BACKGROUND: SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants are highly resistant to vaccine-induced immunity and human monoclonal antibodies. METHODS: We previously reported that two nanobodies, P17 and P86, potently neutralize SARS-CoV-2 VOCs. In this study, we modified these nanobodies into trimers, called TP17 and TP86 and tested their neutralization activities against Omicron BA.1 and subvariant BA.2 using pseudovirus assays. Next, we used TP17 and TP86 nanobody cocktail to treat ACE2 transgenic mice infected with lethal dose of SARS-CoV-2 strains, original, Delta and Omicron BA.1. RESULTS: Here, we demonstrate that a novel nanobody TP86 potently neutralizes both BA.1 and BA.2 Omicron variants, and that the TP17 and TP86 nanobody cocktail broadly neutralizes in vitro all VOCs as well as original strain. Furthermore, intratracheal administration of this nanobody cocktail suppresses weight loss and prolongs survival of human ACE2 transgenic mice infected with SARS-CoV-2 strains, original, Delta and Omicron BA.1. CONCLUSIONS: Intratracheal trimerized nanobody cocktail administration suppresses weight loss and prolongs survival of SARS-CoV-2 infected mice
