Direct Calculation of Thermodynamic Quantities for Heisenberg Model
The XXX Heisenberg model is studied at finite temperature. The free energy is
derived without recourse to Thermal Bethe Ansatz method and Quantum Transfer
Matrix method. The result perfectly agrees with the free energy derived by
Thermal Bethe Ansatz method. An explicit expression of the cluster expansion
coefficient in arbitrary order is presented for the first time.Comment: 26 page
Development of a Study Plan on Investigating the Long-term Variation of the Baiu Precipitation during the 20th Century with Attention to Appearance of the Heavy Rainfall Days at Nagasaki in the Northwestern Part of Kyushu
梅雨降水量の多い西日本の長崎を例に,20世紀の梅雨降水変動に関する探究的授業の開発を行った。本学習プランは,高校の『地学基礎』,『地学』,『地理』をも念頭に置いたものであるが,岡山大学教育学部の「生活科内容研究A」の1コマ分を使って研究授業を行い,その結果を分析した。気候学的に梅雨が明ける7月後半頃には『無降水日』も多いが,その時期にも主に梅雨前線活動に関連した『顕著な大雨日』がしばしば出現する。授業では,そのような点を探究的に見出すことを目標とし,7月後半頃の日々の大雨日及び無降水日の出現状況やそれらの梅雨最盛期との違い,7月後半頃の顕著な大雨日における気圧配置の特徴などを,6~7月の日々の降水量データ表などに基づき読み取る作業・考察を学習活動の中心に据えた。本稿では,取り扱った現象の特徴,授業の概要,分析結果などについて報告する
A direct calculation of the free energy from the Bethe ansatz equation for the Heisenberg model
Thermodynamics of the XXX Heisenberg model is studied. The trace of the
Boltzmann weight with respect to the Hilbert space is taken in the
thermodynamic limit with the number of up-spins being fixed. The expression of
the trace gives an explanation why the correct thermodynamic quantities are
derived from the string hypothesis. Combining this with the previous result, we
conclude that the free energy can be calculated only by assuming the Bethe
ansatz equation. The method is more direct than other known methods which were

Recently, it has been reported that the total scores of the depth, exudates, size, inflammation/ infection, granulation, necrosis, and pocket-rating(DESIGN-R)tool might be useful for predicting the duration of healing of pressure ulcers. Because pressure ulcers in patients with end-stage cancer are thought to be very difficult to heal compared with general pressure ulcers, the validity of DESIGN-R for prognostication of pressure ulcers in patients with end-stage cancer was evaluated. The subjects were 33 cancer patients with pressure ulcers in a palliative care unit. For the patients in relatively good condition, most pressure ulcers with total DESIGN-R scores of nine or less healed within 1month in response to wrap therapy, as expected from a recent report. However, pressure ulcers with total scores of ten or more did not heal. Thus, DESIGN-R may be useful for prognostication of pressure ulcers even in patients with end-stage cancer
Graphical representation of the partition function for a 1-D delta-function Bose gas
One-dimensional repulsive delta-function bose system is studied. By only
using the Bethe ansatz equation, n-particle partition functions are exactly
calculated. From this expression for the n-particle partition function, the
n-particle cluster integral is derived. The results completely agree with those
of the thermal Bethe ansatz (TBA). This directly proves the validity of the
TBA. The theory of partitions and graphs is used to simplify the discussion.Comment: 15 page
High-fidelity conversion of photonic quantum information to telecommunication wavelength with superconducting single-photon detectors
We experimentally demonstrate a high-fidelity visible-to-telecommunication
wavelength conversion of a photon by using a solid-state-based difference
frequency generation. In the experiment, one half of a pico-second visible
entangled photon pair at 780 nm is converted to a 1522-nm photon, resulting in
the entangled photon pair between 780 nm and 1522 nm. Using superconducting
single-photon detectors with low dark count rates and small timing jitters, we
selectively observed well-defined temporal modes containing the two photons. We
achieved a fidelity of after the wavelength conversion,
indicating that our solid-state-based scheme can be used for faithful frequency
down-conversion of visible photons emitted from quantum memories composed of

もののかずをあらわす数詞の用法について
本研究は,日本語の数詞(特に基数詞)における文法的用法について論じたものである。結果としては,これまでにも指摘されている副詞的用法に関する新たな解釈と,従来の研究では論じられてこなかった用法を提示できた。具体的にいうと,前者については,確かに従来述べられているように,数詞が連用することは特色の一つとなっているが,さらに重要なことは,その数詞が,先行する名詞と組み合わさっているという点である。後者については,主に二つの用法を指摘できる。一つは,「子供が三人で遊んでいる」のような文における数詞についてである。この構文において,数詞は必ず主語(主体)のかずを示し,同時にその主語のあらわすものがグループであることを示す機能がある。もう一つは,「二人は黙って歩きつづけました」のような文における数詞である。これは,数詞の三人称代名詞的用法として提示した。Japanese cardinal numbers have various kinds of grammatical usage. This paper aims to give an accurate a perspective as possible. My argument is based on careful observation and classification of 3500 examples of data taken from many novels by different authors. Japanese linguists so far have theoretically explained how Japanese cardinals function mainly adverbially. The view has been that cardinals are related to the predicate as modifiers to clarify the necessary number or quantity of items. This view undoubtedly illustrates one aspect of the issue. Yet there is another essential aspect that needs clarification. The most important point I would like to highlight is that, in Japanese sentences, numerals are closely related to the number or quantity of items shown as nouns, and words to indicate the number or quantity function as kitei-go (a kind of grammatical determiner), while also functionaing adverbially at the same time

小学校における漢文教育のあり方について : 「リズムを味わう」学習の問題点
This paper discusses how to create effective Kambun education in the Japanese elementary school. The school course guidelines which are drawn up by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology were revised in 2008. One of the remarkable changes in the revision is that classical literature education is stressed. In 2011, elementary schools introduced new content, that is Kobun(classical Japanese literature)and Kambun(classical Chinese literature which is read by a particular translation method called Kundoku). The revision says that the main focus of the classical literature education is reading aloud and feeling the rhythm of the classical sentences. However, it is not clear that what the rhythm is and what students can learn. This paper examines the guidelines and suggests that effective Kambun learning should take a new approach to language education, instead of simply reading aloud
