Psychologische Reaktanz als Reaktion auf die Rezeption von Anti-Musikpiraterie-Botschaften

Diverse Bemühungen seitens der Musikindustrie, die Musikpiraterie einzudämmen, scheinen nicht oder nur mäßig zu fruchten. Viele P2P-User sind es mittlerweile bereits gewohnt, ihre Musik kostenlos herunterzuladen und möchten sich diese Freiheit nicht mehr nehmen lassen. Basierend auf der Theorie der psychologischen Reaktanz von Brehm beschäftigt sich diese Arbeit mit der Frage, welches Ausmaß an Reaktanz durch welche Art von Anti-Musikpiraterie-Botschaften ausgelöst wird. Dazu wurden zwei Botschaftsarten ausgewählt, zum einen eine angsterzeugende, die auf die negativen Folgen der Musikpiraterie für den Downloader aufmerksam macht (in diesem Fall eine Geldstrafe) und zum anderen eine, die an seine Verantwortung gegenüber den Künstlern appelliert. Mithilfe zweier Fragebogen, die die gleichen Fragen, aber unterschiedliche Anti-Musikpiraterie-Sujets als Stimuli beinhalten, sollte festgestellt werden, inwiefern sich das Ausmaß der Reaktanz, die durch die Botschaften ausgelöst wurde, unterscheidet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass ein Appell an das Gewissen bei den Teilnehmern ein höheres Ausmaß an Reaktanz auslöst als die angsterzeugende Botschaft. Eine hohe Bereitschaft, legale Downloadalternativen zu nutzen und eine hohe Verantwortung gegenüber den Künstlern stellen sich in dieser Studie als reaktanzminimierende Faktoren heraus, während hingegen ein geringes Alter sowie die Annahme, dass viele andere Internetnutzer auch illegal Musik herunterladen einen verstärkenden Einfluss auf das Ausmaß der Reaktanz haben. Am Ende der Arbeit werden auf diesen Ergebnissen basierende Social Marketing Strategien vorgeschlagen, die Institutionen, welche sich gegen Musikpiraterie einsetzen, anwenden könnten

The Power of Related Articles – Improving Fake News Detection on Social Media Platforms

Social media is increasingly used as a platform for news consumption, but it has also become a breeding ground for fake news. This serious threat poses significant challenges to social media providers, society, and science. Several studies have investigated automated approaches to fighting fake news, but little has been done to improve fake news detection on the users’ side. A simple but promising approach could be to broaden users\u27 knowledge to improve the perceptual process, which will improve detection behavior. This study evaluates the impact of a digital nudging approach which aims to fight fake news with the help of related articles. 322 participants took part in an online experiment simulating the Facebook Newsfeed. In addition to a control group, three treatment groups were exposed to different combinations of related articles. Results indicate that the presence of controversial related articles has a positive influence on the detection of fake news

Lyophilization of nucleic acid nanoparticles

The objective of the thesis was the lyophilization of cationic polymer-based pDNA or siRNA nanoparticles (i.e. polyplexes) with a special focus on the development of long-term stable formulations, the investigation of stabilization mechanisms especially during freezing, and the advanced monitoring of the lyophilization process. It was shown that an up-scaled preparation method in combination with subsequent lyophilization is a promising approach to reproducibly achieve long-term stable pDNA or siRNA polyplexes maintaining particle size and biological activity at pharmaceutically defined high quality. The results demonstrated that formulation development, highly dependent on the used type of polymer or nucleic acid, and process development, with a strong focus on the freezing, in combination with appropriate process monitoring needs always to be performed hand in hand. All in all, this thesis makes an essential contribution in order to move closer from a promising biotechnological approach towards clinic-friendly drugs
