Structural and Thermal Analysis of Hose for LNG Applications

    Get PDF
Finite element analysis (FEA) of the hose assembly used for transportation of Liquefied natural gas (LNG) has become a powerful tool in predicting the deformation and stress distributions. FEA helps in analyzing the model and optimizing the design in hostile environment. In the present work, computations are made to predict the maximum stresses caused due to structural and thermal effects in the LNG transportation. The analysis leads to the selection of the appropriate materials to be used and to the identification of both the most critical measurements and parameters. Most engineering design methods are deterministic, but in reality, many engineering systems are stochastic in nature where probability assessments of the results are required. This probabilistic design analysis assumes the probability distribution of design parameters, instead of the mean values. These factors helps in designing a system which takes into account the safety, quality and the cost for the system. In this present work, structural and thermal analyses of the system are carried out to find out the maximum stresses in the design and a probabilistic analysis is made to determine the critical design parameters responsible to optimize the desig

Current management approach of Cancer in Ayurveda

Ayurveda, the oldest Indian indigenous medicine system of plant drugs is known from very early times for preventing or suppressing various tumors using these natural drugs. In Ayurvedic concept, according to Charaka and Sushruta Samhitas, Cancer is described as inflammatory or noninflammatory swelling and mentioned either as Granthi (minor neoplasm) or Arbuda (major neoplasm). The nervous system (Vata), the venous system (Pitta) and the arterial system (Kapha) are three basics of Ayurveda and very important for normal body function. In malignant tumors all three systems get out of control (Tridoshas) and lose mutual coordination that causes tissue damage, resulting critical condition. Tridoshas cause excessive metabolic crisis resulting in proliferation. The modern cancer therapy which is known to burdened by drug-induced toxic side effects hoping perfect cure of disease form the complementary and alternative medicine system. The main goal of Ayurvedic therapy is to find the ultimate cause of an illness while the therapeutic approach of Ayurveda is divided into four categories as Prakrutisthapana Chikitsa (health maintenance), Rasayana Chikitsa, (restoration of normal function), Roganashani Chikitsa (disease cure) and Naishthiki Chikitsa (spiritual approach). Commonly used herbal decoctions reported in Ayurveda are made of multiple herbs possessing great potential for a cancer cure; scientifically these formulations work on multiple biochemical pathways and influence different organ systems all together and nourish the body as a whole by supporting body‘s deference systems. Now it is important to raise awareness and encourage implementation of Ayurvedic therapies for combating cancer and suggest an integrated approach in tumor management and treatment

A BUCOLIC REMEDY OF FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF POLYHERBAL HAIR OIL

Objective: The birth of cosmetics forms an incessant narrative throughout the past of man as they developed. The present study aimed to formulate polyherbal hair oil using various efficient herbs. Methods: Hair oil formulation of Cocos nucifera (oil), Ricinus communis (oil), Brassica juncea (oil), Trigonella foenum-graecum (Seeds), Murraya koenigii (Leaf), Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Flowers), Nigella sativa (seeds), and Cinnamomum camphora in the form of polyherbal oil using boiling method. These ingredients are rich in various phytochemicals, vitamins, proteins, antioxidants, and so many other constituents which are important for the growth and rejuvenation of the hair cycle. Evaluation of hair oil carries out by various parameters such as sensitivity test, acid value, saponification value, phytochemical screening, pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and irritation test. Results: All the values of evaluation are within the acceptable limit. As compared to market formulations, this herbal oil having minimal or zero adverse effects. Conclusion: It is concluded that formulated hair oil boost hair growth, decrease hair fall, dandruff, gray hair, and gives lustrous and shiny hairs

Role of combined effect of Samsamani Vati & Darvyadi Kwatha in the management of Madhumeha w.s.r. to Type - II Diabetes Mellitus - A Case Study

    Get PDF
Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder in which carbohydrate utilization is reduced and that of lipid and protein enhanced; it is caused by an absolute or relative deficiency of insulin and is characterized by Hyperglycemia. The mortality rate due to Diabetes mellitus is very high and is ranked fifth amongst the ten major causes of death in southern part of India. The prevalence of Diabetes in adults globally was estimated to be 150 million and this figure is expected to double by 2025. Ayurveda has described that a rational treatment is one where the medicine modifies the disease; on the other hand it doesn’t provoke new complaints. Due to all these things it has become a challenge for Ayurvedists to search for an additional safe and effective treatment. Objective: To evaluate the combined effect of Samsamanivati & Darvyadi Kwatha in the management of Madhumeha w.s.r. to type-II Diabetes Mellitus. Method: A 55yr old female patient presenting symptoms of Prabhutmutrarta, Naktamutrata, Trushna, Hastapadadaha, Alasya since two years. Patient was k/c/o DM since 2yrs. Patient was treated with Samsamanivati - 250mg (2 tab) two times a day after meal and Darvyadi Kwatha - 40ml. after meals two times a day for three months.BSL(F) and BSL (PP) was done before and after treatment. Result: The combination of these medicines has also shown highly significant in subjective parameters and moderately significant in objective parameters. Conclusion: Theses selected combination of medicines were found to be highly significant in treating type II Daibetes mellitus

Variable Selection in Regression using Multilayer Feedforward Network

    Get PDF
The selection of relevant variables in the model is one of the important problems in regression analysis. Recently, a few methods were developed based on a model free approach. A multilayer feedforward neural network model was proposed for developing variable selection in regression. A simulation study and real data were used for evaluating the performance of proposed method in the presence of outliers, and multicollinearity

Robust Winsorized Shrinkage Estimators for Linear Regression Model

    Get PDF
In multiple linear regression, the ordinary least squares estimator is very sensitive to the presence of multicollinearity and outliers in the response variable. To handle these problems in the data, Winsorized shrinkage estimators are proposed and the performance of these estimators is evaluated through mean square error sense
