A CASE STUDY TO EVALUATE THE TREATMENT OF VITILIGO W.S.R. TO SWITRA
Vitiligo occurs when the cells that produce melanin die or stop functioning. Vitiligo affects people of all skin types, but it may be more noticeable in people with darker skin. The condition is not life-threatening or contagious. It can be stressful or make you feel bad about yourself. Some dermatological outpatient records show the incidence of vitiligo to be 3% to 4% in India although an incidence as high as 8.8% has also been reported. In the Indian states of Gujarat and Rajasthan, the prevalence of vitiligo is very high being described by some as of epidemic proportions. Sthana of Brajaka pitta is Twak and should be maintained in proper state, imbalance to this may lead to skin diseases. Shvitra is caused by various dietetic and behavioural factors which aggravate the Tridoshas, especially the Kapha dosha vitiating the Raktha, Mamsa and Meda Dhatu. Here present case a 16 year old boy, who came to our OPD with c/o white patches around the B/L eyes, forearms, elbow and middle malleolus since 1 year. “Dhatryadi Kwatha”-50ml., “Mahakhadiradi Ghrita” 10ml. and “Gunjaphaladi Lepa” (for external application) were given for 3 months.

What primary school teachers say about their beliefs on teaching and learning of English as a Second Language (ESL)
The belief system upheld by a teacher largely controls and shapes his or her views and practices of the subject matter and pedagogical content knowledge. Whether or not this applies to an English as a Second Language (ESL) context underpinned the purpose of the study presented and discussed in this paper. This Case Study aimed to explore three purposively selected rural primary school teachers’ beliefs and practices about teaching and learning of English. They each had fifteen, six and one year of experience; respectively. Data was gathered through individual interviews and triangulated with observations and document analysis. Themes were identified through constant comparative and thematic analysis and assisted with the use of CAQDAS, Atlas Ti version 7; a software for analyzing qualitative data. Findings indicate that despite the different number of years of experience, the teachers’ beliefs had an impact on how they felt English should be taught and therefore employed pedagogical strategies they believed would work for their students. This implies there is a need to for sharing good practice which will enable even novice teachers to get the pedagogical content knowledge which are tested through real teaching experiences

Beliefs of primary school teachers on ESL students’ success
The purpose of this research is to discover the beliefs of primary school teachers pertaining to issues involving ESL students’ success and pedagogy in the ESL classroom. This study uncovered the factors that the teachers believed affect students’ mastery of the English language in Malaysia. The data was retrieved through interviews from three ESL teachers with different years of experience and they were categorised as veteran, experienced and novice teacher. Qualitative data analysis software, ATLAS.ti Version 7 was used to yield the teachers’ beliefs about factors contributing to students’ success in the ESL classroom through constant comparative and thematic analysis. The findings revealed that the role of teachers, students’ attitude, family and peers are the factors that are significant in determining the success of students. This implies that there is a need for collaboration to encourage learning and using the English language effectively to enhance the pedagogy and thinking skills
Generation Y employees in the banking sector in Malaysia: social needs, intention to stay and perceived organizational support
By year 2025, 75% of the workforce will be Gen Y employees. This study examined the
influence of social needs on the intention to stay by Gen Y employees in the banking sector in
Malaysia. The mediation role of perceived organizational support between the two constructs
was examined. In this quantitative study, primary data was collected from a sample of 470
respondents. The examination concluded that higher level of social needs had a positive and
significant influence on intention to stay. This study further revealed that perceived
organizational support partially mediated the relationship between social needs and intention
to stay. Due to the expected rise of the Gen Y workforce in future, this study will give
organizations a better understanding and knowledge of Gen Y social needs and provide them
the right tools to collaborate and find the right solutions. (Abstract by authors
Mathematical play: games, problem solving, investigations and discussions
This dissertation looks at the learning and teaching of mathematics through the issue of play and generalisation. Here, play is defined as providing a medium for learning. Generalisation is seen as being central to what mathematics is. The study initially examines the connections between play and mathematics. It goes on to investigate the effect of five significant shifts in my teaching, which have been driven by this initial study: Use of whiteboards. Starting with a problem, Generalisation, Room layout and Discussion.
The study is carried out within a reflective practitioner qualitative research framework and is presented in a diary format in chronological order.
In the learning of mathematics I have realised that mathematics is about problem solving and generalisation used correctly could greatly aid students’ understanding of mathematics. My teaching of mathematics has been greatly enhanced by using ‘circle time’ with small whiteboards by starting with a problem. I feel I have developed for students an experience of doing mathematics in a playful manner
Angioembolization of rectal stent induced inferior mesenteric artery pseudoaneurysm
Bleeding is a lesser-known complication of rectal self-expandable metal stents (SEMS). Most of these bleedings are self-limiting. Life threatening bleeding as a complication of SEMS reported only rarely. In the present paper, we are reporting a rare case of near fatal intraluminal bleeding from rectal SEMS. Traumatic pseudoaneurysm formed in superior rectal branch of the inferior mesenteric artery because of pressure induced by rectal stent. Severe bleeding leads to haemorrhagic shock. Patient was stabilized and angioembolization of pseudoaneurysm with superior rectal branch of inferior mesenteric artery was done. Bleeding stopped post procedure and patient discharged in stable condition. This case presentation highlights the fact that we should decide management strategy for a patient in multidisciplinary meeting and utilize the available resources in best possible ways. Though rectal stents are good alternatives, they have their own set of complications. These should be considered while deciding strategy for the upfront stoma versus rectal stent. For cases as in this article upfront stoma may have avoided the associated complication.
Teachers' beliefs on technological fusion in teaching ESL students
Studies on the effectiveness of technology have shown that it enhances students in language learning and helps gain their involvement. Nevertheless, there is still resistance among teachers in using technology in the language classrooms due to the rapid advancements of technology. The aim of the study reported in this article was therefore to gather testimonial insights on teachers' beliefs about technology and its fusion to illuminate how English as a second language (ESL) teaching and learning is eased and made meaningful in classrooms
PHYSICOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF RASAMANIKYA-AN AYURVEDIC ARSENICAL FORMULATION
Objective: The objective of this study was standardization and Chemical characterization of rasamanikya prepared as per standard operating procedures (SOP) mentioned in the classical text.
Methods: Rasamanikya was prepared by putting churnodaka shodhita haratala (Orpiment-As2S3) between two abhraka (white mica) sheets which are heated for a while to obtain a red colored finished product. The Ayurvedic specifications for the analysis of rasamanikya were performed through qualitative and quantitative analysis. Physicochemical analysis, assay of elements by atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS) and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) were carried out and some other tests such as x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and energy dispersive x-ray analyzer (EDAX) were also performed to ensure the quality of the drug.
Results: In the finished drug Arsenic and Sulphur are present in the form of As4S4, As2S3, As2S5. On the basis of XPS survey scans, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive x-ray analyzer (SEM-EDAX) and carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulphur (CHNS) analysis the Arsenic to Sulphur (As to S) ratio is thus standardized as 39-47: 53-61. In addition to this powder, XRD shows a major conversion into an amorphous phase.
Conclusion: The results could be used to lay down a new set of pharmacopoeial standards for the preparation of rasamanikya for getting optimal efficacy of medicine. Therefore, the information will help the Scientists and Researchers to build comprehensive standards, to screen the compounds responsible for different bioactivities, and to elucidate the molecular mechanism of action
