This graduate thesis discusses animated film as a part of media culture and a mean of messages' transmission (especially ecological) and ecological education as the teacher's need and task to integrate it into all upbringing and educational processes. The purpose of film education is to help pupils (students) develop a humanistic world view by which they will spontaneously become critical, self-critical, creatively aligned personalities, useful to themselves, to their community and to the world in which they live. Ecological education also includes the same contents. The graduate thesis consists of two parts. The first part is the theoretical framework about animated film and its teaching methodology and the role of teacher in ecological education. The second part of the thesis is practical work with pupils of the second grade of elementary school. Pupils divided into groups participate in a workshop where they learn how to create an animated film, learn about environmental issues and record their own short animated film (using GIF - Graphic Interchange Format) on ecology topics

The history of schizophrenia is in essence the history of psychiatry. Although the term has been in use for one hundred years, patients diagnosed as schizophrenic today have been classified in other ways in the past. What is important is that they have always been identified as ill. In this text, I will look back a century and touch on the history of schizophrenia prior to that time. It is important to note that the author of this text works at the Psychiatry Clinic of the Sisters of Charity Hospital established on the foundations of its first director, Professor Josip Glaser, and his student Vladimir Hudolin. Josip Glaser was Eugen Bleulerā€™s student from the Zurich School of Psychiatry, which he introduced to our region. It is a great asset to have an institution in Croatia founded on the tradition of the classic German psychiatric school, which we, the younger generation, proudly practice today.

In traditional urban landscaping the use of a relatively small number of plant species was common for a long time. New trends indicate a possible use of autochthonous plant species even in representative urban green areas by imitating natural vegetation layout. Autochthonous plant species adapt better to the site conditions and the maintenance costs are lower. By the use of native species, biological and landscape diversity is preserved, which is very important especially if the species are endangered or protected in their natural habitats. Such species is Ruscus hypoglossum L., endangered in most of its natural habitats because it is collected by florists and used as greenery for flower arrangements. It is a highly ornamental species suitable for planting in shaded places in gardens as well as in urban green areas

The study evaluates the effect of collagen bioresorbable membrane as a pulp capping material. Experiments were carried out on mongrel dogs. The dogs were anesthetized and teeth were isolated by rubber dum. In all animals, along the buccal side, class V cavities were prepared on two maxillary and mandibular incisors. The pulp chambers were exposed and bioresorbable collagen membrane Bio Gide was placed on the pulp wound in the first group of the teeth. In the second group the pulp wound was covered with a sterile Teflon disk and in the third group the cavities were closed by Ketac-Silver cementum only. The cavities in the first two groups of teeth were permanently closed by Ketac-Silver cementum. After six weeks the specimen teeth were extracted and prepared for histological examination. The histological findings of the specimens treated only with Ketac-Silver cementum showed complete necrosis of the pulp tissue. Two samples treated with Teflon disks showed complete necrosis of the pulp, while on six samples partial loss of morphologic structure could be seen. On the specimens treated with collagen bioresorbable membranes the pulp tissue preserved its vitality to a much greater extent. Particularly noticeable was a better blood supply in the pulp, with an increased number of blood vessels. The creation of a reparatory bridge was not noticed in any of the tested samples

Cytochrome p4502D6 and serotonin transporter polymorphism in patient with bipolar disorder type II

    Get PDF
Bipolar disorder can manifest itself for years with recurring depressive episodes before the first manic, hypomanic or mixed episode occurs. The depressive episode of the bipolar disorder thus frequently remains unrecognised and misdiagnosed as a major depressive disorder and therefore gets inadequately treated with antidepressant monotherapy. This paper reports a case of a patient with bipolar disorder type II, who was treated for several years as a major depressive disorder and failed to show a therapeutic response to antidepressants from the group of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. The first manic episode occurred in the course of treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Pharmacogenetic analysis has shown that the patient was an ultra-rapid metabolizer of drugs metabolized by cytochrome P450 2D6, and also had a serotonin transporter s/s genotype. Results of the analysis helped in determining the optimal psychopharmacotherapy for manic and depressive episodes of the bipolar disorder. The paper also discuses a possible serotonin transporter genotype impact to the course and the clinical presentation of the disease

Influence of Frying Time and Addition of Rice Starch on Oil Uptake and Textural Properties of Fried Coated Chicken Meat

    Get PDF
Rice starch in shares of 6, 8 and 10 % was used as replacement for eggs in the coating mixtures used for coating of meat before frying. After frying of meat at 170 0C for 4, 6 and 8 minutes, effects of frying time and addition of starch on oil uptake and meat texture were evaluated. Instrumental texture analysis of fried coated chicken meat was conducted, as well as Soxhlet method for determining of oil content in samples. Statistical analysis of relevant texture properties of fried meat was performed. Hardness of fried meat samples decreased with increase of the starch content in mixture. Elasticity of meat increased as a result of coatings water holding capability and consequent prevention of meat drying. Oil content in samples coated with mixtures containing rice starch decreased with increase of starch share. Optimal frying time was 6 minutes, which with 10 % of mass share of rice starch produced samples with 35.54 % less oil
