Naturally, vegetated channel has been developed for attenuating the flow in the drainage system. This is considered important as it will work as one of the effective ways to prevent high outflow velocity that could cause flooding and overtop of water at the outflow. The attenuated flow are as the result of the flow-resistant that existed within the drainage system and is manually calculated using Manning’s Roughness Equation, wher

This research was undertaken at Scope International (M) Sdn. Bhd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered Bank, United Kingdom, on the topic of “An Empirical Research on Hofstede’s Culture Dimensions on Perceived Job Satisfaction among Expatriates of Scope International (M) Sdn. Bhd.”. Scope International is a growing company which employs many expatriates. The year 2014 however, had not been a good time for the company as there is a drop in sales and revenue as reported in the annual report of 2014. Apart from economic reasons, some recruiters from the human resources had explained that job satisfaction and cultural reasons among expatriates may be one of the symptoms for this drop in sales and revenue. The main purpose of this study is to research on the Hofstede’s cultural dimension on perceived job satisfaction of the expatriates. There are four dimensions that will be studied in this paper are power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism / collectivism and masculinity / femininity. Primary data were collected from a sample of 80 expatriates in Technology and Engineering departments, through distribution of questionnaires that are used for analysis. Only 72 questionnaires are returned, out of the 80 sample. The study revealed that the mentioned problem did not actually appear among the expatriates and have very high job satisfaction. Also there are significant relationship between the perceived job satisfaction and cultural dimension with power distance being the most influential. The researcher recommended that Talent Acquisition should conduct proper investigation on the claimed problems; conduct engagement session with the expatriates; empowers the Talent Acquisition skills and expertise; organise Human Resources open day more frequently; and maintain the already good cultural diversity and inclusion

This research is a critical comparative analysis on the suitability of the traditional laws in governing cyber pornography in Malaysia where special reference to the laws in England and Wales has been made. This study sets out to discover the suitability of the Malaysian traditional laws such as the Penal Code, the Film Censorship Act 2002 and the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 to govern cyber pornography. This is due to the fact that Malaysia has its very own cyber law which is the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and yet, in England and Wales, they apply their traditional laws to govern the offence. We found that the traditional laws may be suitable to govern cyber pornography but the traditional laws need to be amended and updated to include cyber environment so as to ensure their suitability to govern cyber pornography in Malaysia

Unsupervised anomaly detection for underwater gliders using generative adversarial networks

An effective anomaly detection system is critical for marine autonomous systems operating in complex and dynamic marine environments to reduce operational costs and achieve concurrent large-scale fleet deployments. However, developing an automated fault detection system remains challenging for several reasons including limited data transmission via satellite services. Currently, most anomaly detection for marine autonomous systems, such as underwater gliders, rely on intensive analysis by pilots. This study proposes an unsupervised anomaly detection system using bidirectional generative adversarial networks guided by assistive hints for marine autonomous systems with time series data collected by multiple sensors. In this study, the anomaly detection system for a fleet of underwater gliders is trained on two healthy deployment datasets and tested on other nine deployment datasets collected by a selection of vehicles operating in a range of locations and environmental conditions. The system is successfully applied to detect anomalies in the nine test deployments, which include several different types of anomalies as well as healthy behaviour. Also, a sensitivity study of the data decimation settings suggests the proposed system is robust for Near Real-Time anomaly detection for underwater gliders

This research has been conducted to analyse the existing legal framework in Malaysia governing the traditional and complementary medicine practice. The research aims to analyse the inadequacy of the law of traditional and complementary medicine in Malaysia specifically in the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Act (TCMA) 2013 (the Act). The main concern of this research is the issue on the suitable standard of duty of care specifically duty to refer of TCM practitioner in light of section 30 of TCMA 2013. Section 30(1) of the Act imposed the obligation to the practitioners for referring their patient in two situations. The first situation is where the TCM practitioner need to refer patient to the medical practitioner if the patient experiencing an acute medical emergency and second, where the ailment or condition of the patient is beyond the skill, competency or their expertise of the TCM practitioner. Failure to comply, the practitioners shall be liable for breach of duty and may be subjected to penalty or if the patient wish, he may bring the case to the court. The focus shall be given to the action where the patient may bring the case of breaching the duty of care to court. Therefore, the researchers will highlight the suitable standard of care and approaches to be used in court. Different cases such as Bolitho v City & Hackney Health Authority, Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Karim v Abdul Wahab bin Abdul Hamid, etc shall be referred to

'Image' to an extent relates with visual representation, which consists of an act of seeing which establishes places or subject matters in the surrounding world; these would in part, describe in words and explaine such paradigm, but yet lacking in the content of the emotional experience as a total. The relation between what is seen and what is known could never achieve as a fulfilled settled communication process. A known representative of imageries, the photography, is known for its implementation within the media or as a medium of persuasion. Such form of images plays an important role, yet lacking the awareness of its motivations or agendas. The production of images as a form of communication to the viewers is a critical process. This paper explores the problems in understanding of photography imageries and their impact
