Zur Synonymie bei personenbezeichnenden Einwortidiomen – Eine Analyse am Beispiel von Angsthase und seinen Synonymen

The subject of this article are selected German one-word idioms that describe the human trait of anxiety. At the center of the investigation is the question of the synonymy of the phraseologisms to be analyzed. The aim of the study is to show to what extent the analyzed phraseological units can be regarded as synonymous and consequently as interchangeable. The analysis is carried out on the basis of the data taken from the DeReKo. The background to the research on this question is provided by considerations over the definition of single-word idioms, which aim to show that, despite their monolexicality, German single-word idioms should be included in the subject area of phraseology. For this, various arguments are presented and discussed in the theoretical part of the article. The appearance of the synonyms in the lexicon is then explained in more detail, and the manner in which the synonymy is manifested in the phraseolexicon is also discussed. It is pointed out that phraseological units can be synonymous both with one another and with other units of the lexicon. Funktionsverbgefüge – definitorische Abgrenzung, wissenschaftliche Verortung und funktionales Potenzial in der Kommunikation

Functional verb structure (= FVG) is a phenomenon that continues to be discussed controversially in German linguistics. Despite the relatively long research tradition that goes back to the 1960s, there are discrepancies with regard to the definition of this phenomenon, its pre-location in the language system (assignment to grammar on the one hand or to phraseology on the other hand) and its functions in communication. This problem seems to be noticed in linguistics, as evidenced by the monograph by Volker Harm published by de Gruyter in 2021. The article aims to discuss the newly published monograph by Volker Harm and its contribution to German research in this area. The aim of the study presented here is to develop a new approach to the consideration of FVG. In the description of FVG, the theory of construction grammar and selected concepts of lexical semantics are used. Various characteristics that are traditionally attributed to FVG in research are analyzed in detail and evaluated with reference to the specialist literature and selected examples of the use of FVG. The type of connection between the noun and the verb, and more precisely the implication nominal meaning → overall meaning, is raised as the central criteria for the formation of the category FVG, whereby FVG can be distinguished as an independent class of noun-verb connections

Feste Wortverbindungen im Gebrauch – kommunikatives und funktionales Potenzial

Fixed combinations of words, which are the subject of phraseology research, are characterized by different functions in communication. The topic of the use of phraseological units in certain texts or text types, i.e. their pragmatic potential, was examined in the work of Koller (1977) or Gülich (1978) at the end of the 1970s. The aim of the article is to discuss the results of a new publication from this area by Lüger/Bergerová/Schuppener (2021). It is an anthology that is divided into two thematic areas: phrasemes and their productivity as well as phrasemes in the text and in the discourse, and is rounded off with two reviews of current phraseological works. The collective monograph comprises a total of ten articles in which the problem of the communicative potential of phrases is examined from different perspectives. Various types of text are examined for the use of phraseologisms and their role in communication, e.g. press articles, multimodal online texts, advertisements, press horoscopes, election campaign speeches, etc. Depending on their own research goal and method, the authors concentrate in their investigations on a phrase or analyze the general occurrence of phraseologisms in a specific text. The contributions presented in the volume are not committed to a uniform methodology or material basis, which in this sense can be regarded as a great advantage. This is the basis of the variety of perspectives and the broad insight into the topic

Utracone w tłumaczeniu – o problemach z tłumaczeniem nazw potraw z języka polskiego na język niemiecki

In this paper a typology of translation errors from Polish into German is presented. The basis for the analysis are Polish names of dishes translated into German; examples of such translations can be found on the menus of Wrocław restaurants. The point of departure for our considerations is Hejwowski’s approach (2006). It was possible to distinguish additional types of errors due to their diversity. In our article we indicated types of errors occurring in the translation of culinary names and areas which must be taken into account in such translations.Niniejszy tekst prezentuje typologię błędów w tłumaczeniach z języka polskiego na język niemiecki. Podstawę analizy stanowią polskie nazwy potraw w tłumaczeniu na język niemiecki pochodzące z autentycznych kart dań z restauracji we Wrocławiu. Punkt wyjścia stanowi opracowanie Hejwowskiego (2006). Ze względu na różnorodność występujących błędów w tłumaczeniu możliwe było wyodrębnienie również dodatkowych typów błędów. Celem analizy jest diagnoza błędów występujących w tłumaczeniu kulinariów oraz wskazanie obszarów, które należy w tłumaczeniach tego typu brać pod uwagę

Das Auge isst mit – Zu Schwierigkeiten im Bereich der deutsch-polnischen Übersetzung von kulinarischen Realien

Essen und Trinken sind nicht nur existenzielle Bedürfnisse des Menschen, sondern auch Identitätsträger und Elemente, mithilfe deren die jeweilige Kultur definiert wird. In Situationen, in denen man mit fremden Kulturen konfrontiert wird, stößt man oft auf Verstehensprobleme. Damit haben wir es auch, wenn nicht vor allem im Bereich des Kulinarischen zu tun. Im Mittelpunkt des Beitrags stehen Bezeichnungen für traditionelle deutsche Speisen und deren Übersetzungen ins Polnische. Die analysierten polnischen Übersetzungen entstammen Internetseiten und werden anschließend mit Wörterbuchäquivalenten verglichen. Aufgrund der Analyse und in Anlehnung an die Forschungsliteratur werden Strategien präsentiert, die beim Übertragen von kulinarischen Realienbezeichnungen eingesetzt werden.Eating and drinking are not only the existential human needs, but also carriers of identity and means by which a culture defines herself. In situations where confronted with foreign cultures, it is the field of culinary where one often encounters problems in understanding some of the content. In the center of this analysis are the names of traditional, German dishes and their translations into Polish. The analyzed Polish translations come from internet websites and are then compared with the dictionary equivalents. DaF-Ausbildung im universitären Bereich – Ein kritischer Überblick über Studienprogramme für das Fach Germanistik in Polen

Die Annahmen der Sprachpolitik in Polen haben einen bestimmten Einfluss auf die Ausbildung von Fremdsprachen im universitären Bereich. Im Fokus dieses Beitrags befindet sich die DaF-Ausbildung im germanistischen Studium in Polen. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass sich der Status der deutschen Sprache und des Deutschunterrichts in Polen darauf auswirkt, über welche Deutschkenntnisse Kandidaten verfügen, die das Studium der Germanistik aufnehmen. In diesem Sinne wird im Beitrag der Versuch unternommen, zu überprüfen, welcher Stellenwert der Komponente DaF im germanistischen Studium an verschiedenen polnischen Universitäten zukommt
