Design and Development of an Airblast Atomiser for the KAVERI engine and the sectoral combustor tests

    Get PDF
This report deals with the design and development of an airblast atomiser for application in the KAVERI engine. Five atomisers of the chosen design were fabricated and tested at ambient conditions to determine the fuel spray SMD, patternation, cone angle and atomiser flow number. The atomiser performance parameters specified were achieved and hot tests carried out in the 90° combustor sector. The combustor pressure loss, exit temperature distribution, ignition and stability limits were evaluate

Plasmid-Encoded Multidrug Resistance of Salmonella typhi and some Enteric Bacteria in and around Kolkata, India: A Preliminary Study

    Get PDF
The present study investigates the occurrence of R-plasmid in Salmonella typhi isolates from enteric fever cases in and around Kolkata (1991-2001), India following in vitro conjugation experiments, isolation of plasmid DNAs and agarose gel electrophoretic analysis. The multidrug resistant (MDR) S. typhi strains contained a transferable plasmid conferring resistance to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, cotrimoxazole and tetracycline. The plasmid encoding ACCoT-resistance of Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus vulgaris were conjugative and co-migrated with the plasmid of MDR S. typhi isolates. The antibiotic sensitive S. typhi isolates did not contain any plasmid. Thus the findings of the present study confirmed the instability of the R-plasmid in S. typhi, and that the antibiotic sensitive S. typhi strains acquired the R-plasmid from other enteric bacteria such as E. coli, K. pneumoniae and P.vulgaris to undergo a suitable adaptation for survival in the changing antibiotic environment

Development and Wind Tunnel Evaluation of a SMA Based Trim Tab Actuator for a Civil Aircraft

    Get PDF
This paper presents about the development and wind tunnel evaluation of an SMA based smart trim tab for a typical 2 seater civil aircraft. SMA actuator was housed in the port side of the elevator for actuating the trim tab. Wind tunnel tests were conducted on a full scale Horizontal Tail model with Elevator and Trim Tab at free stream speeds of 25, 35 & 45 m/sec and also for a number of deflections of the elevator (30° up, 0° neutral & 25° down) and trim-tab 11° & 21° up and 15° & 31° down). To measure the hinge moment experienced by the trim-tab at various test conditions, two miniaturized balances were designed and fabricated. Gain scheduled proportional integral controller was developed to control the SMA actuated smart trim tab. It was confirmed during the tests that the trim-tab could be controlled at the desired position against the aerodynamic loads acting on it for the various test conditions

Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explore the use and practice of open educational resources in social science discipline at University of Delhi, Delhi. Design/Methodology/Approach: The relevant data for the study was obtained through a well-structured questionnaire followed by personal interview wherever it was required. The well-structured precise questionnaire was distributed to the 150 social scientists (research scholars and faculty) that include 75 male & 75 female, selected through purposive random sampling. In addition to this, the bibliographical data were recorded in MS-Excel sheet 2007 for analysis and interpretation purpose with diagrams. Findings: The response rate was 83.33% in total that include 88% male and 78.67% female respondents. The respondents were found very enthusiastic in responding the questionnaire. Further, the study also finds that majority of the students in social science discipline are aware about the concept open educational resources (OER). In addition to this, it can also be seen from the results of the study that majority of the students are in favour of the OER for publishing and use purpose. Research Limitations/Implications: The study is confined to the social scientists (research scholars and faculty) of University of Delhi, Delhi and research results are limited to this only. Originality/Value: The study stressed upon the concept of open educational resources with regard to its use and practice by the students at University of Delhi, Delhi. The area of the study is still untouched here in India that makes the study unique in itself and open the path to make the concept of OER to get the momentum here in India also as in developed countries the OER movement has already reached at advanced level. Hadamard Coded Modulation for Wavelet based Radio Over Fiber Networks

    Get PDF
With the advancements in the technology of communication, there has been an increase in demand of higher data rates for the services such as voice, multimedia and data over both wired and wireless links. Therefore there is the requirement of new modulation schemes to transfer the large amount of data that existing techniques may not be capable of supporting in future. OFDM so far has resulted in good performance on the implementation level but, these techniques must be able to provide high data rate, allowable Bit Error Rate (BER), and minimum delay. In this paper, PAPR, CCDF of OFDM is implemented using wavelet transform based Hadamard Coded Modulation (HCM) and discusses relationship between them for RoF networks. This paper also presents comparison of OFDM and DWT-HCM BER performance for different SNR values

An Analytical Review of Orientation Based Concurrency Control Algorithm

There is an ever-increasing demand for higher throughputs in transaction processing systems leading to higher degrees of transaction concurrency.Concurrency control in Database management systems ensures that database transactions are performed concurrently without violating the data integrity of the database. Thus concurrency control is an essential element for correctness in any system where two database transactions or more, executed with time overlap, can access the same data. There are problems like Deadlock,Livelock and prevention of these problems is vital in concurrency control of distributed database systems. Many techniques have been proposed for managing concurrent execution of transactions in database systems.A new method for concurrency control in distributed DBMS2019;s,is discussed which will improve system performance by reducing the chances of deadlock and livelock and reducing restart ratio

HMPFIM-B: Hybrid Markov Penalized FCM in Mammograms for Breast Cancer

    Get PDF
Mammography is an imaging tool which uses low dose low energy x-ray for early detection of tumours in breast. Currently there are number of image based software applications to assist radiologists for better screening. Segmentation is the best way for reliable diagnosis by reducing false rate. So here, we propose novel segmentation algorithm using fuzzy logic. This new approach uses penalized fuzzy c means clustering in mammographic image to give significant improved performance while screening mammogram. The real-time implementation of this paper can be implemented using hardware and software interface with the mammography systems

Software industry have its own values in the economic growth of a country. The scenario of this field in the India is also not a small part of the whole. As per the trends India shares almost 20 % of the world2019;s software economy. The tactics and development processes for the software industries always requires a certain amount of improvements and certainty to achieve the target. There can be multiple factors which can affect the development process. In this research paper I am showing a much critical problem of risk handling there resolution. There are various models and methods which we can follow for calculate statically but that is not enough. If we really want to optimize the results as well as the success certainty we should improvise our traditional procedures. In the later part of this paper a short improvisation of my side over the traditional one is shown. This method improves our predictability about risks as well as the rectification of that problems

A Wearable Glove for Measuring Fingers Flexion to Identify Specific Hand Gestures Using Flex Sensors

    Get PDF
This paper presents a special method of communication for the speech impaired people and other patients using their hand gestures. A microcontroller based system has been developed for measuring fingers flexion to identify specific hand gestures using flex sensors. The system is made wearable and has been deployed on a glove. To measure the fingers flexion for a specific hand gesture five flex sensors are tailored for each finger on the glove. These flex sensors produce signals corresponding to different hand gestures and finger movements. Flex sensors simply change their resistance values according to the degree of bend angle made. They convert the change in bend to electrical resistance-the more the bend, the more is the resistance value. The system has been built around a widely used eight bit microcontroller ATMega328P that has a built-in 10-bit multiplexed channel Analog-to-Digital Converter for the signal conditioning purpose. The important factors while designing a glove is the calibration, the finger size, height and thickness varies from patient to patient and these inaccurate measurements of parameter leads to overlapping of the sign
