Modeling cross-language structural priming in sentence production
A central question in the psycholinguistic study of multilingualism is how syntax is shared across languages. We implement a model to investigate whether error-based implicit learning can provide an account of cross-language structural priming. The model is based on the Dual-path model of sentence-production (Chang, 2002). We implement our model using the Bilingual version of Dual-path (Tsoukala, Frank, & Broersma, 2017). We answer two main questions: (1) Can structural priming of active and passive constructions occur between English and Spanish in a bilingual version of the Dual- path model? (2) Does cross-language priming differ quantitatively from within-language priming in this model? Our results show that cross-language priming does occur in the model. This finding adds to the viability of implicit learning as an account of structural priming in general and cross-language structural priming specifically. Furthermore, we find that the within-language priming effect is somewhat stronger than the cross-language effect. In the context of mixed results from behavioral studies, we interpret the latter finding as an indication that the difference between cross-language and within- language priming is small and difficult to detect statistically
Epitaxial growth and thermodynamic stability of SrIrO3/SrTiO3 heterostructures
Obtaining high-quality thin films of 5d transition metal oxides is essential
to explore the exotic semimetallic and topological phases predicted to arise
from the combination of strong electron correlations and spin-orbit coupling.
Here, we show that the transport properties of SrIrO3 thin films, grown by
pulsed laser deposition, can be optimized by considering the effect of
laser-induced modification of the SrIrO3 target surface. We further demonstrate
that bare SrIrO3 thin films are subject to degradation in air and are highly
sensitive to lithographic processing. A crystalline SrTiO3 cap layer deposited
in-situ is effective in preserving the film quality, allowing us to measure
metallic transport behavior in films with thicknesses down to 4 unit cells. In
addition, the SrTiO3 encapsulation enables the fabrication of devices such as
Hall bars without altering the film properties, allowing precise
(magneto)transport measurements on micro- and nanoscale devices.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Cross-linguistic influence in simultaneous and early sequential bilingual children: A meta-analysis
Although cross-linguistic influence at the level of morphosyntax is one of the most intensively studied topics in child bilingualism, the circumstances under which it occurs remain unclear. In this meta-analysis, we measured the effect size of cross-linguistic influence and systematically assessed its predictors in 750 simultaneous and early sequential bilingual children in 17 unique language combinations across 26 experimental studies. We found a significant small to moderate average effect size of cross-linguistic influence, indicating that cross-linguistic influence is part and parcel of bilingual development. Language dominance, operationalized as societal language, was a significant predictor of cross-linguistic influence, whereas surface overlap, language domain and age were not. Perhaps an even more important finding was that definitions and operationalisations of cross-linguistic influence and its predictors varied considerably between studies. This could explain the absence of a comprehensive theory in the field. To solve this issue, we argue for a more uniform method of studying cross-linguistic influence
Ex vivo renal perfusion and autotransplantation in treatment of calculous disease or abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Two more indications are described for temporary ex vivo perfusion of kidneys with revascularization of these organs as autografts to orthotopic or heterotopic locations. One of the patients had staghorn calculi which were removed from a solitary kidney. The other patient had both kidneys autografted in the course of a surgical procedure on an extensive abdominal aortic aneurysm
A real-space, rela-time method for the dielectric function
We present an algorithm to calculate the linear response of periodic systems
in the time-dependent density functional thoery, using a real-space
representation of the electron wave functions and calculating the dynamics in
real time. The real-space formulation increases the efficiency for calculating
the interaction, and the real-time treatment decreases storage requirements and
the allows the entire frequency-dependent response to be calculated at once. We
give as examples the dielectric functions of a simple metal, lithium, and an

Many-body diagrammatic expansion in a Kohn-Sham basis: implications for Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory of excited states
We formulate diagrammatic rules for many-body perturbation theory which uses
Kohn-Sham (KS) Green's functions as basic propagators. The diagram technique
allows to study the properties of the dynamic nonlocal exchange-correlation
(xc) kernel . We show that the spatial non-locality of is
strongly frequency-dependent. In particular, in extended systems the
non-locality range diverges at the excitation energies. This divergency is

Heretability and Correlation of Vegetative and Generative Character on Genotypes of Jatropha (Jatropha curcas Linn.)
AbstractThis study was aimed to obtain information of heritability predictive value and correlations of vegetative and generative characters on six genotypes of J. curcas. The characters of plant height, leaf number, leaf width, number of primary and secondary branches, number of fruit bunches, number of fruits per plant, seed's and 100 seeds’ dry weight showed high predictive value of heritability. Characters related to positive correlation and high heritability values (leaf width, number of primary branches, number of secondary branches, number of fruit bunches, number of fruits per plant) are able to be used as criteria for selection of J. curcas plant
