MANGIFERA INDICA (AMRA) AND ITS SEED KERNEL - AN USEFUL DRUG
Mangifera indica (Amra), family Anacardiaceae, a large plant found wild or semi- wild nearly throughout India in tropical and sub-tropical hilly forests. Commonly it is cultivated throughout the country for its fruits and is widely used in folk and Ayurvedic system of medicine. Various parts of plant contain mangiferine, amino acid, gallotannin, gallic acid, m-digallic acid, ethylgallate, isoquercetinquercetin and β – sitosterol, fat, calcium, protein and tannic acid. Therapeutic indications of Mangifera indica mentioned in Ayuvedic classical texts are Vaman (vomiting), Atisar (diarrhea), Hridadaha (heart burn), Raktasrava, Bhagnasandhana, Yoni roga etc, whereas from modern point of view it has Antibacterial, Anti-fungal, Antiviral, Antioxidant, Antipyretic and Antiamoebic properties. In this review efforts are made to discuss various aspects of Amra, which will certainly help the researchers to a great extent in their field
Educational and Immersive Game Development
Educational Systems have remained the same for decades while the technology and its effect on our daily lives has undergone tremendous progress. Technology has been incorporated in various other fields with great success while education has been conservative and slow to adapt, this has been problematic in a number of ways, since entertainment, news, social media have evolved to better suit the human psyche. This creates a gap between these aforementioned systems and education where education is way behind in terms of engagement and immersion compared to entertainment and such. We propose one way to tackle this divide is to use “Educational Games” which use technology to make education engaging and entertainin
Structure of 8B from elastic and inelastic 7Be+p scattering
Motivation: Detailed experimental knowledge of the level structure of light
weakly bound nuclei is necessary to guide the development of new theoretical
approaches that combine nuclear structure with reaction dynamics.
Purpose: The resonant structure of 8B is studied in this work.
Method: Excitation functions for elastic and inelastic 7Be+p scattering were
measured using a 7Be rare isotope beam. Excitation energies ranging between 1.6
and 3.4 MeV were investigated. An R-matrix analysis of the excitation functions
was performed.
Results: New low-lying resonances at 1.9, 2.5, and 3.3 MeV in 8B are reported
with spin-parity assignment 0+, 2+, and 1+, respectively. Comparison to the
Time Dependent Continuum Shell (TDCSM) model and ab initio no-core shell
model/resonating-group method (NCSM/RGM) calculations is performed. This work
is a more detailed analysis of the data first published as a Rapid
Communication. [J.P. Mitchell, et al, Phys. Rev. C 82, 011601(R) (2010)]
Conclusions: Identification of the 0+, 2+, 1+ states that were predicted by
some models at relatively low energy but never observed experimentally is an
important step toward understanding the structure of 8B. Their identification
was aided by having both elastic and inelastic scattering data. Direct
comparison of the cross sections and phase shifts predicted by the TDCSM and ab
initio No Core Shell Model coupled with the resonating group method is of
particular interest and provides a good test for these theoretical approaches.Comment: 15 pages, 19 figures, 3 tables, submitted to PR
Professional development of academic library professionals in Kerala / Susan Mathew K, Baby, M.D, and Sreerekha Pillai S
The paper aims to bring out the problems and prospects of the professional development opportunities of academic library professionals in the Universities in Kerala. The study is a part of research undertaken to survey the professional development activities and educational needs of library professionals in the major Universities of Kerala because of the developments in Information communication technology. The study recommends methods for improving the knowledge/skills of library professionals. The aim of the study is to evaluate the professional development activities of Library professionals and their attitude towards continuing education programmes. In order to achieve the objectives of the study a survey was conducted with the help of structured questionnaires distributed to 203 library professionals in seven major universities in Kerala, (South India) of which 185 questionnaires were returned. Results of the analysis show that majority of the professionals have pursued higher degrees in library science or IT allied courses after entering the profession, and that they have a positive attitude towards participation in training programmes and workshops. The results show that developments in ICT have a positive influence on majority of library professionals‘ attitude towards continuing education programmes
