Approach for the development and application of target process module sets
The implementation of agile frameworks, such as SAFe, in large companies causes conflicts between the overall product development process with a rigid linkage to the calendar cycles and the continuous agile project planning. To resolve these conflicts, adaptive processes can be used to support the creation of realistic target-processes, i.e. project plans, while stabilizing process quality and simplifying process management. This enables the usage of standardisation methods and module sets for design processes.
The objective of this contribution is to support project managers to create realistic target-processes through the usage of target-process module sets. These target-process module sets also aim to stabilize process quality and to simplify process management. This contribution provides an approach for the development and application of target-process module sets, in accordance to previously gathered requirements and evaluates the approach within a case study with project managers at AUDI AG (N=21) and an interview study with process authors (N=4) from three different companies
METHOD for the IDENTIFICATION of REQUIREMENTS for DESIGNING REFERENCE PROCESSES
A reference process should consider to the needs and behaviours of the process users, as well as all relevant restrictions and boundary conditions within the company and its environment. Therefore, this contribution provides a method to synthesize relevant requirements on reference processes and supports the consideration of these requirements during the design of a new, company-specific reference process based on meta-models. The developed method was used to design a reference process for automotive predevelopment projects and its applicability and usefulness was evaluated successfully
Polarization properties in the transition from below to above lasing threshold in broad-area vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers
For highly divergent emission of broad-area vertical-cavity surface-emitting
lasers (VCSELs) a rotation of the polarization direction by up to 90 degrees
occurs when the pump rate approaches the lasing threshold. Well below threshold
the polarization is parallel to the direction of the transverse wave vector and
is determined by the transmissive properties of the Bragg reflectors that form
the cavity mirrors. In contrast, near-threshold and above-threshold emission is
more affected by the reflective properties of the reflectors and is
predominantly perpendicular to the direction of transverse wave vectors. Two
qualitatively different types of polarization transition are demonstrated: an
abrupt transition, where the light polarization vanishes at the point of the
transition, and a smooth one, where it is significantly nonzero during the
transition
Incorporating chemical signalling factors into cell-based models of growing epithelial tissues
In this paper we present a comprehensive computational framework within which the effects of chemical signalling factors on growing epithelial tissues can be studied. The method incorporates a vertex-based cell model, in conjunction with a solver for the governing chemical equations. The vertex model provides a natural mesh for the finite element method (FEM), with node movements determined by force laws. The arbitrary LagrangianâEulerian formulation is adopted to account for domain movement between iterations. The effects of cell proliferation and junctional rearrangements on the mesh are also examined. By implementing refinements of the mesh we show that the finite element (FE) approximation converges towards an accurate numerical solution. The potential utility of the system is demonstrated in the context of Decapentaplegic (Dpp), a morphogen which plays a crucial role in development of the Drosophila imaginal wing disc. Despite the presence of a Dpp gradient, growth is uniform across the wing disc. We make the growth rate of cells dependent on Dpp concentration and show that the number of proliferation events increases in regions of high concentration. This allows hypotheses regarding mechanisms of growth control to be rigorously tested. The method we describe may be adapted to a range of potential application areas, and to other cell-based models with designated node movements, to accurately probe the role of morphogens in epithelial tissues
Violation of pseudospin symmetry in nucleon-nucleus scattering: exact relations
An exact determination of the size of the pseudospin symmetry violating part
of the nucleon-nucleus scattering amplitude from scattering observables is
presented. The approximation recently used by Ginocchio turns out to
underestimate the violation of pseudospin symmetry. Nevertheless the conclusion
of a modestly broken pseudospin symmetry in proton-208Pb scattering at
EL=800MeV remains valid.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure

Comparison of Techniques for Bonding VCSELs Directly to Ics
This paper reports the successful bonding of 8 x 8 and 4 x 4 VCSEL arrays to Si CMOS and GaAs MESFET integrated circuits and to GaAs substrates. Three different bonding techniques are demonstrated and their electrical, optical and mechanical characteristics are compared. All three techniques remove the substrate from the VCSEL wafer, leaving individual VCSELs bonded directly to locations within the integrated circuit
A cross dialectal view of the Arabic dative alternation
This paper is concerned with the syntax of ditransitive verbs in Arabic.We concentrate on the vernaculars, focussing in particular on three geographically spread dialects: Egyptian Cairene Arabic, the dominant vernacular in Egypt, Hijazi Arabic, spoken in Western Saudi Arabia and Maltese, a mixed language with a Magrebi/Siculo-Arabic stratum. We show that all three exhibit an alternation (the dative alternation) between a ditransitive ('double object') construction and a corresponding prepositional dative construction, and outline a number of differences between these constructions in the different varieties of Arabic. We consider the distribution of verbs exhibiting the dative alternation in the light of Ryding's (2011) observations concerning Modern Standard Arabic
