Investigation of performance limits in axial groove heat pipes
The entrainment-shear performance limit which occurs in axial groove heat pipes was investigated and explained. In the existing heat pipe literature the entrainment heat flux limit is defined as the condition where the Weber number is greater than or equal to one. In this analysis, the critical value for the entrainment Weber number is found to be 2 pi less than or equal to 3 pi. Perhaps more important to the heat pipe designer than the entrainment performance limit is the prediction of the performance degradation due to vapor-liquid shearing stress which is also described. Preliminary qualitative experiments were conducted to observe the shear. stress wave formation phenomena. The equations presented may be used to predict and minimize the vapor-liquid shear stress performance effects that occur in axial groove and puddle flow artery heat pipes

Analyzing China’s contributions to major dermatologic journals from the past 20 years
Background: Over the past 20 years, China has experienced an increased popularity of Western medicine. The impact of Western medicine in China on the field of dermatology is not well characterized. Objective: To assess the impact China has had on the field of dermatology by analyzing the total publications to six dermatological journals, compared to two other Asian countries: Japan and Korea. Methods: PubMed was utilized to search for publications from China, Japan, and Korea within the past 20 years. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the average percentage change in publications during this 20-year period, and the average annual increase in total number of publications from each country. Comparisons were made using one-way ANOVA and two-group t-tests. Results: From 1998 to 2019, there was a 24% average annual increase in publications from China (M=24.4, SD=24.5), compared to a 6% increase from Japan (M=5.6, SD=25.4, P=0.02) and 8% increase from Korea (M=7.8, SD=23.4, P=0.03). Conclusion: For the past 20 years, there has been a strong positive trend regarding the total number of publications from China. This finding might be related in part to an increased acceptance of Western medicine, which follows a similar trend during the time period we analyzed

Multicomponent Dark Matter in Supersymmetric Hidden Sector Extensions
Most analyses of dark matter within supersymmetry assume the entire cold dark
matter arising only from weakly interacting neutralinos. We study a new class
of models consisting of hidden sector extensions of the MSSM that
includes several stable particles, both fermionic and bosonic, which can be
interpreted as constituents of dark matter. In one such class of models, dark
matter is made up of both a Majorana dark matter particle, i.e., a neutralino,
and a Dirac fermion with the current relic density of dark matter as given by
WMAP being composed of the relic density of the two species. These models can
explain the PAMELA positron data and are consistent with the anti-proton flux
data, as well as the photon data from FERMI-LAT. Further, it is shown that such
models can also simultaneously produce spin independent cross sections which
can be probed in CDMS-II, XENON-100 and other ongoing dark matter experiments.
The implications of the models at the LHC and at the NLC are also briefly
