Tribal Water Quality Standards: Are There Any Limits
Thermoelectric generators (TEG) directly convert heat energy into electrical energy. The impediments as to why this technology has not yet found extensive application are the low conversion efficiency and high costs per watt. On the one hand, the manufacturing process is a cost factor. On the other, the high-‐priced thermoelectric (TE) materials have an enormous impact on the costs per watt. In this thesis both factors will be examined: the production process and the selection of TE materials. Technical screen printing is a possible way of production, because this method is very versatile with respect to the usable materials, substrates as well as printing inks. The organic conductor PEDOT:PSS offers reasonable thermoelectric properties and can be processed very well in screen printing. It was demonstrated by prototypes of fully printed TEGs that so-‐called vertical printed TEGs are feasible using standard graphic arts industry processes. In addition, the problems that occur with print production of TEGs are identified. Finally, approaches to solve these problems are discussed

Travelling gradients in interacting morphogen systems
Morphogen gradients are well known to play several important roles in development; however the mechanisms underlying the formation and maintenance of these gradients are often not well understood. In this work, we investigate whether the presence of a secondary morphogen can increase the robustness of the primary morphogen gradient to perturbation, thereby providing a more stable mechanism for development. We base our model around the interactions of Fibroblast Growth Factor 8 and retinoic acid, which have been shown to act as morphogens in many developmental systems. In particular, we investigate the formation of opposing gradients of these morphogens along the antero-posterior axis of vertebrate embryos, thereby controlling temporal and spatial aspects of axis segmentation and neuronal differentiation
The Lewis Heat Pipe Code with Application to SP-100 GES Heat Pipes
The NASA Lewis Research Center has a thermal management program supporting SP-100 goals, which includes heat pipe radiator development. As a part of the program Lewis has elected to prepare an in-house heat pipe code tailored to the needs of its SP-100 staff to supplement codes from other sources. The latter, designed to meet the needs of the originating organizations, were deemed not entirely appropriate for use at Lewis. However, a review of their features proved most beneficial in the design of the Lewis code
X-Ray Scanner for Atlas Barrel TRT Modules
X-ray scanners for gain mapping of ATLAS Barrel Transition Radiation Tracker
(TRT) modules were developed at Hampton University for quality assurance
purposes. Gas gain variations for each straw of the TRT modules were used to
decide whether wires should be removed or restrung, and to evaluate overall

Interparticle Potential up to Next-to-leading Order for Gravitational, Electrical, and Dilatonic Forces
Long-range forces up to next-to-leading order are computed in the framework
of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system by means of a semiclassical approach to
gravity. As has been recently shown, this approach is effective if one of the
masses under consideration is significantly greater than all the energies
involved in the system. Further, we obtain the condition for the equilibrium of
