Selective recovery of tropane alkaloids applying liquid membrane technique
A tropine recovery from its solutions applying a liquid membrane technique was studied. Among several studied organic solvents, chloroform showed best extraction ability towards atropine. Pertraction studies were carried out in a laboratory bulk liquid membrane contactor with agitation of all three phases. Both, aqueous solutions of pure atropine and extract of Atropa Belladonna L. roots were used as feed solutions, as well as chloroform and diluted sulphuric acid as a liquid membrane and a stripping liquor, respectively. The effect of phase agitation on alkaloid pertraction was studied for the cases when pure atropine solutions were used as feed phase. A pertraction process carried out with native liquid extracts from A. Belladonna provided selective alkaloid recovery and its concentration in the acceptor solutio

Conceptualization of user activities in the social network in the conditions of distance education
Optical absorption in boron clusters B and B : A first principles configuration interaction approach
The linear optical absorption spectra in neutral boron cluster B and
cationic B are calculated using a first principles correlated
electron approach. The geometries of several low-lying isomers of these
clusters were optimized at the coupled-cluster singles doubles (CCSD) level of
theory. With these optimized ground-state geometries, excited states of
different isomers were computed using the singles configuration-interaction
(SCI) approach. The many body wavefunctions of various excited states have been
analysed and the nature of optical excitation involved are found to be of
collective, plasmonic type.Comment: 22 pages, 38 figures. An invited article submitted to European

Anisotropy of Solar Wind Turbulence between Ion and Electron Scales
The anisotropy of turbulence in the fast solar wind, between the ion and
electron gyroscales, is directly observed using a multispacecraft analysis
technique. Second order structure functions are calculated at different angles
to the local magnetic field, for magnetic fluctuations both perpendicular and
parallel to the mean field. In both components, the structure function value at
large angles to the field S_perp is greater than at small angles S_par: in the
perpendicular component S_perp/S_par = 5 +- 1 and in the parallel component
S_perp/S_par > 3, implying spatially anisotropic fluctuations, k_perp > k_par.
The spectral index of the perpendicular component is -2.6 at large angles and
-3 at small angles, in broad agreement with critically balanced whistler and
kinetic Alfven wave predictions. For the parallel component, however, it is
shallower than -1.9, which is considerably less steep than predicted for a
kinetic Alfven wave cascade.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, replaced to match published versio
Features of seborrheic keratoses in patients with carbohydrate metabolism disorders
Multiple seborrheic keratosis (SK), especially when there is overexpression of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), is considered paraneoplastic dermatosis, but it is almost always associated with multiple fibroepithelial polyps (PF) and pseudoacanthosis, skin diseases in which the leading role is played by insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study examines the possibility of the effect of disorders of carbohydrate metabolism on the clinical picture of multiple SK and the expression of EGFR.Aims. To study the clinical features of multiple SC and the expression of EGFR in patients, depending on the presence of concomitant type 2 diabetes mellitus.Materials and methods. There were 65 patients with multiple SK at the age from 55 to 77 years, including women (44) and men (21). All the patients were examined skin, consultation of the endocrinologist. For a histological and immunohis-tochemical study (IHC), a single SK was surgically excised in each patient. IHC-reactions were carried out with monoclonal antibodies to EGFR. The result was assessed by the number of stained cytoplasmic membranes of tumor cells.Results. In 81.5 % of cases, multiple SK was associated in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The location of the SK was also characteristic mainly in large folds of the skin, in contrast to patients without disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, in which the SK were located mainly on the lateral surfaces of the trunk and abdomen, without affecting the large folds of the skin. Multiple PF were also characteristic of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. In IHC studies EGFR expression was detected in 100 % of cases in individuals with multiple SC and type 2 diabetes mellitus in over 30 % of tumor cells, and only in 16.7 % of cases in individuals with multiple SK without violations of carbohydrate metabolism.Conclusions. The presence of multiple SK in patients, in combination with multiple PFs with characteristic tumor localization in large folds of the skin, serves as a diagnostic marker of carbohydrate metabolism disorders or predispositions to the development of type 2 diabetes. Increased expression of EGFR plays a leading role in the pathogenesis of multiple SK, stimulating the proliferation and growth of SK, in turn, as a consequence of impairment of insulin signaling pathways and insulin resistance
Aromaticity in a Surface Deposited Cluster: Pd on TiO (110)
We report the presence of \sigma-aromaticity in a surface deposited cluster,
Pd on TiO (110). In the gas phase, Pd adopts a tetrahedral
structure. However, surface binding promotes a flat, \sigma-aromatic cluster.
This is the first time aromaticity is found in surface deposited clusters.
Systems of this type emerge as a promising class of catalyst, and so
realization of aromaticity in them may help to rationalize their reactivity and
catalytic properties, as a function of cluster size and composition.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
Spectral-luminescent properties of cationic indotricarbocyanine dyes in cancerous cells and solutions
The spectral-luminescent properties of symmetrical indotricarbocyanine dyes with the same cation and different anions (Br−, BF4−) in cancerous HeLa cells, an isotonic solution of NaCl, and organic solvents have been investigated. It is shown that when these dyes are present in cells in nontoxic concentrations, they are in a monomeric state, they are localized in the region with a low dielectric permeability, bonded to biological macromolecules, and do not make contact with an aqueous medium. It has been established for the first time that the molecules of the polymeric dyes are present in cells predominantly in the form of contact ion pairs, and in a dye with the Br− anion the presence of free cations or solvately separated ionic pairs is revealed. It is shown that the shift of the ion equilibrium toward contact ion pairs for the dyes in the cells (as compared to the low-polarity organic solvents) can be due to the fairly high concentration of salts in the biosystem
Changes in neutrophilic granulocytes functional activity in trained athletes
This article presents results of comparative research of the functional activity of neutrophilic granulocytes, expressed through a calculated index of activation, in sportsmen going in for orienteering at the end of competitive period and the control group, consisting mostly of healthy people, who do not expose to high physical load. We detected a reliable decrease of the activation index of neutrophils of sportsmen in more than 2 times in comparison to the control group
