    A concept for integrated care pathways for atopic dermatitis-A GA2 LEN ADCARE initiative

    INTRODUCTION: The integrated care pathways for atopic dermatitis (AD-ICPs) aim to bridge the gap between existing AD treatment evidence-based guidelines and expert opinion based on daily practice by offering a structured multidisciplinary plan for patient management of AD. ICPs have the potential to enhance guideline recommendations by combining interventions and aspects from different guidelines, integrating quality assurance, and describing co-ordination of care. Most importantly, patients can enter the ICPs at any level depending on AD severity, resources available in their country, and economic factors such as differences in insurance reimbursement systems. METHODS: The GA2 LEN ADCARE network and partners as well as all stakeholders, abbreviated as the AD-ICPs working group, were involved in the discussion and preparation of the AD ICPs during a series of subgroup workshops and meetings in years 2020 and 2021, after which the document was circulated within all GAL2 EN ADCARE centres. RESULTS: The AD-ICPs outline the diagnostic procedures, possible co-morbidities, different available treatment options including differential approaches for the pediatric population, and the role of the pharmacists and other stakeholders, as well as remaining unmet needs in the management of AD. CONCLUSION: The AD-ICPs provide a multidisciplinary plan for improved diagnosis, treatment, and patient feedback in AD management, as well as addressing critical unmet needs, including improved access to care, training specialists, implementation of educational programs, assessment on the impact of climate change, and fostering a personalised treatment approach. By focusing on these key areas, the initiative aims to pave the way for a brighter future in the management of AD

    Improving Sound Absorption Property of Polyurethane Foams by Adding Tea-Leaf Fibers

    The sound absorption property of polyurethane (PU) foams loaded with natural tea-leaf fibers and luffa cylindrica (LC) has been studied. The results show a significant improvement in the sound absorption property parallel to an increase in the amount of tea-leaf fibers (TLF). Using luffa-cylindrica as a filler material improves sound absorption properties of soft foam at all frequency ranges. Moreover, an increase in the thickness of the sample resulted in an improvement of the sound absorption property. It is pleasing to see that adding tea-leaf fibers and luffa-cylindrica to the polyurethane foam demonstrate a significant contribution to sound absorption properties of the material and it encourages using environmental friendly products as sound absorption material in further studies

    Pediatric Lyme Neuroborreliosis: Different clinical presentations of the same agent; Single center experience

    PubMedID: 27179572METHODS: The study was conducted at tertiary training and research hospital. From January 2014 to September 2015, a total of 75 patients diagnosed with encephalitis, ataxia, Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), facial paralysis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), pseudotumorcerebri were evaluated for inclusion to the study. Among these patients whom investigations of B. burgdorferi antibody IgM and/or IgG ELISA and Western Blot (WB) were detected to be positive, were assessed. Epidemiologic data, tick bite histories, duration of symptoms, clinical findings, radiologic findings, treatment durations and prognosis were investigated.RESULTS: Totally 7 patients had been treated with the diagnosis of Lyme neuroborreliosis. The mean age was 9.14±4.91 years; duration of symptoms before admission was 8.0±4.50 days; and the duration of antibiotic use was 2.85±0.89 weeks. All patients had received ceftriaxone and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG); 3 patients had received plasmapheresis (42.9%) and one patient had received pulse corticosteroid therapy. While the patient with the diagnosis of encephalomyeloneuritis and atypical GBS had partially improved, the other patients were completely cured.CONCLUSION: In this article, we report pediatric LNB patients, B. burgdorferi should also be considered in patients with atypical or severe neurologic involvement or a history of tick bite; it is known that the prognosis is good with appropriate and early treatment.OBJECTIVES: Lyme disease is a vector-associated infectious disease, caused by the agent, spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi.     A review of the economics and the marketing of the pomegranate industry in Turkey

    Turkey is one of the most important agricultural countries in the word, being endowed with a wide range of ecological conditions. Therefore, many species of fruits and vegetables are produced in Turkey. Pomegranate is widely distributed in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions of Turkey, even if its world-wide trade is still limited. According to the latest numbers of TurkStat statistics, it is obvious that pomegranate is one of the promising crops in Turkey. Total planted area of pomegranates is rising very fast and the number of bearing and non-bearing trees reached to around 16 million in 2012. Total production increased from 60.000 to 315.000 tons starting from the year 2000 to 2012, and the country is one of the world's important pomegranate export countries. In addition to this, degree of pomegranate self-sufficiency is about 150% in Turkey. Since Turkish domestic market in fresh fruit and the juice industry are increasing and there is steady growth of consumption, pomegranate can be considered one of the leading agroindustrial crops in the near future in Turkey. There are more than 40 brands of about 37 producer companies (17 of them are dealing with pomegranates) in the country. Fruit processed in the Turkish juice industry is about 983.000 tons in total (pomegranates is 118.000 tons) in 2011

    This is an investigation of information retrieval performance of Turkish search engines with respect to precision, normalized recall, coverage and novelty ratios. We defined seventeen query topics for Arabul, Arama, Netbul and Superonline. These queries were carefully selected to assess the capability of a search engine for handling broad or narrow topic subjects, exclusion of particular information, identifying and indexing Turkish characters, retrieval of hub/authoritative pages, stemming of Turkish words, correct interpretation of Boolean operators. We classified each document in a retrieval output as being ”relevant” or ”nonrelevant” to calculate precision and normalized recall ratios at various cut-off points for each pair of query topic and search engine. We found the coverage and novelty ratios for each search engine.We also tested how search engines handle meta-tags and dead links. Arama appears to be the best Turkish search engine in terms of average precision and normalized recall ratios, and the coverage of Turkish sites. Turkish characters (and stemming as well) still cause bottlenecks for Turkish search engines. Superonline and Netbul make use of the indexing information in metatag fields to improve retrieval results
