COMPARING VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION SYSTEM OF TURKEY AND GERMANY

Employing individuals having desired qualifications for required and trained workforce is possible with a sense of qualified vocational and technical education. Vocational and technical education has fallen behind of general academic education in Turkey recently. This situation can be seen as a disadvantage for Turkey who has long term valuable targets to be productive society within the years of 2023 and 2071. So, analysing education system, curriculum and practices of other countries having important success in the field of vocational and technical education is thought to be helpful on explaining the source and reasons of this disadvantage. Germany, which has one of the most employment rate among OECD countries, is selected to be compared with Turkey by different aspects in the context of education system, curriculum and practices in this study. Because of analysing and comparing vocational and technical education system and curriculum of Turkey and Germany, interpretative paradigm, one of the qualitative research methods, was selected as a research method of the study. The findings obtained were discussed with regard to school facilities, curriculum and teacher training system. In this respect, this study is thought to make a great contribution to determine deficiency, activities and required fields on practice

Evaluation of 2005 elementary mathematics curriculum according to educational criticism model

Bu çalışma, 2004–2005 öğretim yılında pilot olarak uygulanmaya başlanan 2005 ilköğretim matematik programının eğitsel eleştiri modeline göre değerlendirmeyi amaçlamıştır. Araştırma, Erzurum ilinden random usulüyle seçilen 10 ilköğretim okulunun yönetici, öğretmen ve öğrenci görüşleri, nitel teknikler kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve gözlem kayıtları kullanılmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde betimsel çözümleme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulguları, yeni matematik öğretim programının çalışmaya katılan okul yöneticileri, öğretmenler ve öğrenciler tarafından olumlu bulunduğunu, ancak uygulamada süre yetersizliği, araş-gereç yetersizliği ve değerlendirme sürecindeki yetersizlikler gibi bazı sorunlar yaşandığını göstermiştir.This study aims to evaluate 2005 elementary mathematic program which was started to apply as a pilot study in school year of 2004-2005 with Connoisseurship Evaluation Model. Opinions of administrators’, teachers’ and students’ of 10 randomly selected elementary schools in Erzurum were gathered through qualitative techniques. Investigator developed observation registration form and semi-structured interviews to gather data. Data analyzed with qualitative data analyze techniques. Findings revealed that administrators, teachers and students declared positive opinions on the new model. However shortage of time for application, inadequacy of materials and insufficiency in evaluation process caused some problems

Afyonkarahisar’da sığır, manda, koyun ve keçilerde bulunan echinococcus granulosus i̇zolatlarının moleküler karakterizasyonu

This study has been carried out to determine the genotypes of Echinococcus granulosus cysts in cattle, buffaloes, sheep and goats raised in Afyonkarahisar region. Cysts were collected from the internal organs of 258 animals, including 65 goats, 71 sheep, 119 cattle and 3 buffaloes infected with hydatid cysts. DNA was isolated from a total of 78 cysts from germinal membranes and protoscoleces extracted from cysts to identify the genotypes of E. granulosus in infected animals. PCR-RFLP was carried out using the Hin6I and StuI restriction enzymes in the ND1 gene and no polymorphism could be determined in all isolates. In the COX1 gene analysis, G1 strain known as domestic sheep strains and 18 different haplotypes were found in all isolates from cattle, buffaloes, sheep and goats. As a result, it was concluded that all isolates of the cattle, buffaloes, sheep and goats grown in Afyonkarahisar region determined in the analyses carried on the COX1 gene were G1 strain.Bu çalışma, Afyonkarahisar yöresinde yetiştirilen sığır, manda, koyun ve keçilerde bulunan Echinococcus granulosus kistlerinin genotiplerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada, hidatik kistle enfekte 65 keçi, 71 koyun, 119 sığır ve 3 manda olmak üzere toplam 258 hayvanın iç organlarından kistler toplanmıştır. Enfekte hayvanlardaki E. granulosus genotiplerini belirlemek amacıyla kistlerden çıkarılan germinal membran ve protoskolekslerden toplam 78 kistten DNA izole edilmiştir. ND1 gen bölgesi Hin6I ve StuI restriksiyon enzimleri kullanılarak PCR-RFLP yapılmış ve tüm izolatlarda polimorfizm belirlenememiştir. COX1 gen bölgesi analizinde sığır, manda, koyun ve keçilerden elde edilen izolatların tümünde evcil koyun suşu olarak bilinen G1 suşu ve 18 farklı haplotip bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak, Afyonkarahisar yöresinde yetiştirilen sığır, manda, koyun ve keçilerde bulunan izolatların COX1 geninde yapılan genetik analizler sonucunda tüm izolatların G1 suşu olduğu kanısına varılmıştır
