    An Application of Collaborative Web Browsing Based on Ontology Learning from User Activities on the Web

    With explosively increasing amount of information on the Web, users have been getting more bored to seek relevant information. Several studies have introduced adaptive approaches to recognizing personal interests. This paper proposes the collaborative Web browsing system that can support users to share knowledge with other users. Especially, we have focused on user interests extracted from their own activities related to bookmarks. A simple URL based bookmark is provided with semantic and structural information by the conceptualization based on ontology. In order to deal with the dynamic usage of bookmarks, ontology learning based on a hierarchical clustering method can be exploited. As a result of our experiments, about 53.1 % of the total time was saved during collaborative browsing for seeking the equivalent set of information, compared with single Web browsing. Finally, we demonstrate implementing an application of collaborative browsing system through sharing bookmark-associated activities

    Semantic Co-Browsing System Based on Contextual Synchronization on Peer-to-Peer Environment

    In this paper, we focus on a personalized information retrieval system based on multi-agent platform. Especially, they are capable of sharing information between them, for supporting collaborations between people. Personalization module has to be exploited to be aware of the corresponding user's browsing contexts (e.g., purposes, intention, and goals) at the specific moment. We want to recommend as relevant information to the estimated user context as possible, by analyzing the interaction results (e.g., clickstreams or query results). Thereby, we propose a novel approach to self-organizing agent groups based on contextual synchronization. Synchronization is an important requirement for online collaborations among them. This synchronization method exploits contextual information extracted from a set of personal agents in the same group, for real-time information sharing. Through semantically tracking of the users' information searching behaviors, we model the temporal dynamics of personal and group context. More importantly, in a certain moment, the contextual outliers can be detected, so that the groups can be automatically organized again with the same context. The co-browsing system embedding our proposed method was shown 52.7 % and 11.5 % improvements of communication performance, compared to single browsing system and asynchronous collaborative browsing system, respectively

    An Ontological Framework for Context-Aware Collaborative Business Process Formulation

    In cross-enterprise collaborative environment, we have dealt with challenges in business process integration for common business goals. Research directions in this domain range from business to business integration (B2Bi) to service-oriented augmentation. Ontologies are used in Business Process Management (BPM) to reduce the gap between the business world and information technology (IT), especially in the context of cross enterprise collaboration. For a dynamic collaboration, virtual enterprises need to establish collaborative processes with appropriate matching levels of tasks. However, the problem of solving the semantics mismatching is still not tackled or even harder in case of querying space between different enterprise profiles as considered as ontologies. This article presents a framework based on the ontological and context awareness during the task integration and matching in order to form collaborative processes in the manner of cross enterprise collaboration

    OntoCS: A Web-Based System for Collaborative Ontology Construction

    A number of studies on ontology editing tools and ontology-based applications have been proposed for automatically processing knowledge and information. However, the existing methodologies and tools for dealing with ontologies have assumed that the system is restricted to a single user. Main motivation of this paper is to foster collaborations between users, because ontology building is an expensive task. Thereby, in this paper, we present a web-based ontology construction and integration system, which is called OntoCS, to support collaborative interactions between people during creating ontologies. Particularly, inexpert users can collect available language resources from the web to describe concepts in a (even unfamiliar) domain. We believe that this collaborative process is implementing collective intelligence. In conclusion, we have shown that the proposed OntoCS system can efficiently edit and manage multiple ontologies over time

    Consensual negotiation-based decision making for connected appliances in smart home management systems

    Recently, the concept of Internet of Agent has been introduced as a potential technology that pushes intelligence, data processing, analytics and communication capabilities down to the point where the data originates. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for a Decentralized Home Energy Management System by applying the Internet of Agent concept. In particular, we first present an Internet of Agent framework in terms of sensing, communicating and collaborating among connected appliances. Then, the decentralized management based on consensual negotiation mechanism with several intelligent techniques are proposed for dynamic scheduling connected appliance. Specifically, by applying the Internet of Agent framework, connected appliances are regarded as smart agents that are able to make individual decisions by reaching agreement over the exchange of operations on competitive resources. Furthermore, in this study, the load balancing problem in which load shifting is able to reduce the electricity demand during peak hours is taken into account in order to emphasize the effectiveness of our approach. For the experiment, we develop a simulation of smart home environment to evaluate our approach using NetLogo, a tool which provides real-time analysis in the modeling and simulation domain of complex systems.This research was supported by the Chung-Ang University Research Grants in 2018.
