Bridging the Perspectives and Developmental Needs of All Participants in Curriculum-Based Telementoring Programs

Telementoring, also referred to as e-mentoring or online mentoring, has been carried out in a wide range of K–12 environments and continues to grow in popularity. Through a review of several studies, we argue that the potential for telementoring to support deeper and more authentic school learning will not be fully realized unless researchers pay more conscious attention to the developmental character of telementoring relationships. We discuss the flaws of up-front training as an approach to improving program outcomes, and compare three other strategies (iteration, facilitation, and open access to models) that can be used in combination to supplement training

Successful Intracervical Insemination and Characteristics of Anoa (Bubalus SP.) Parturation Behavior in Captivity

Anoa, which is the endemic animal in Indonesia, its population is unevitably decreasing, therefore anoa included in the list of endangered species by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The experiment was aimed to apply the artificial insemination (AI) technique for anoa and to examine their parturition behavior. The experiment involved 2 males and 5 females anoa at Taman Safari Indonesia Bogor. Semen was collected by electroejaculator, then evaluated and diluted in Tris-egg yolk extender. The anesthetized estrous females were inseminated intracervically with extended semen (100x106 sperm/1.0 mL). Females which did not show estrous signs during 2-3 cycles after AI were predicted pregnant, and therefore confirmed by ultrasonography. As a comparison, another predicted-pregnant female after natural mating was scanned. The results showed that intracervical AI resulted pregnancy in one female, and the gestation period of anoa was ranged from 313 d (AI) to 324 d (natural mating). There were three stages of parturition process was observed: Stage 1 was characterized by the abdominal contraction and amniotic membrane rupture, Stage 2 was characterized by the fetal expulsions, and Stage 3 was characterized by the placental expulsions and ingestion of placenta by the dam. The duration of each stage of parturition was 6-8 h (stage 1), 30-60 min (stage 2), and 15-180 min (stage 3). It is concluded that AI technique was applicable to anoa in captivity, and the parturation behavior of anoa was comparable to buffalo and cattle. Rigorous computer-assisted bounds on the period doubling renormalisation fixed point and eigenfunctions in maps with critical point of degree 4

We gain tight rigorous bounds on the renormalisation fixed point for period doubling in families of unimodal maps with degree $4$ critical point. We use a contraction mapping argument to bound essential eigenfunctions and eigenvalues for the linearisation of the operator and for the operator controlling the scaling of added noise. Multi-precision arithmetic with rigorous directed rounding is used to bound operations in a space of analytic functions yielding tight bounds on power series coefficients and universal constants to over $320$ significant figures.Comment: 15 pages, 8 figure

Usulan Preventive Maintenance Pada Mesin Komori Ls440 Dengan Menggunakan Metode Reliability Centered Maintenance (Rcm II) Dan Risk Based Maintenance (Rbm) Di PT ABC

PT ABC merupakan Perusahaan cetak dalam skala nasional. Produk yang dihasilkan oleh Perusahaan merupakan buku ajar, majalah, surat kabar, dan lain sebagainya. Kegiatan maintenance yang ada PT ABC terbagi menajadi dua, yaitu preventive maintenance setiap senin dan kamis serta kegiatan corrective maintenance yang dilakukan jika mesin mengalami kegagalan fungsi. Kegagalan fungsi pada mesin Komori masih cukup tinggi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan kegiatan pecegahaan untuk meningkatkan reliabilitas mesin. Metode yang dilakukan adalah Reliability Centered Maintenance, yaitu dengan menganalisis failure yang terjadi dengan menggunakan analisis Failure Mode and Effect Analysis dan Decision Worksheet. Hasil dari analisis ini merupakan preventive task masing-masing komponen. Sedangkan untuk menganalisis risiko yang diakibatkan jika mesin mengalami gagal fungsi, yaitu dengan metode Risk Based Maintenance. Hasil yang diperoleh dari nilai risiko yang ditanggung Perusahaan ketika mesin mengalami failure, yaitu sebesar Rp965.904.899,36. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data pada subsistem kritis diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa enam komponen dilakukan dengan task scheduled on condition, tiga komponen dengan task scheduled restoration, dan enam komponen dengan task scheduled discard. Sedangkan untuk interval waktu dalam pengerjaan preventive maintenance pada komponen tersebut disesuaikan dengan task yang diperoleh. Setelah mendapatkan interval waktu perawatan, kemudian ditentukan biaya perawatan usulan yang dikeluarkan Perusahaan, yaitu sebesar Rp971.567.519,69

The role of serotonin in personality interference:tryptophan depletion impairs the identification of neuroticism in the face

Serotonergic mechanisms mediate the expression of personality traits (such as impulsivity, aggression and anxiety) that are linked to vulnerability to psychological illnesses, and modulate the identification of emotional expressions in the face as well as learning about broader classes of appetitive and aversive signals. Faces with neutral expressions signal a variety of socially relevant information, such that inferences about the big five personality traits, including Neuroticism, Extraversion and Agreeableness, can be accurately made on the basis of emotionally neutral facial photographs. Given the close link between Neuroticism and psychological distress, we investigated the effects of diminished central serotonin activity (achieved by tryptophan depletion) upon the accuracy of 52 healthy (non-clinical) adults' discriminations of personality from facial characteristics. All participants were able to discriminate reliably four of the big five traits. However, the tryptophan-depleted participants were specifically less accurate in discriminating Neuroticism than the matched non-depleted participants. These data suggest that central serotonin activity modulates the identification of not only negative facial emotional expression but also a broader class of signals about personality characteristics linked to psychological distress

From the analysis of the northern ring road planning Wonosari City in accordance with the volume of traffic survey determined the number of lanes is 2/2 UD. From the calculation of the northern ring road planning Wonosari City, at the intersection specified the use of rigid pavement while traffic along the ring road north of the City Wonosari using flexible pavements

Self, memory, and imagining the future in a case of psychogenic amnesia

We report a case of psychogenic amnesia and examine the relationships between autobiographical memory impairment, the self, and ability to imagine the future. Case study JH, a 60 year old male, experienced a 6 year period of pervasive psychogenic amnesia covering all life events from childhood to the age of 53. JH was tested during his amnesic period and again following hypnotherapy and the recovery of his memories. JH’s amnesia corresponded with deficits in self-knowledge and imagining the future. Results are discussed with reference to models of self and memory and processes involving remembering and imagining
