    Mode solutions for a Klein-Gordon field in anti-de Sitter spacetime with dynamical boundary conditions of Wentzell type

    We study a real, massive Klein-Gordon field in the Poincar\'e fundamental domain of the (d+1)(d+1)-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime, subject to a particular choice of dynamical boundary conditions of generalized Wentzell type, whereby the boundary data solves a non-homogeneous, boundary Klein-Gordon equation, with the source term fixed by the normal derivative of the scalar field at the boundary. This naturally defines a field in the conformal boundary of the Poincar\'e fundamental domain of AdS. We completely solve the equations for the bulk and boundary fields and investigate the existence of bound state solutions, motivated by the analogous problem with Robin boundary conditions, which are recovered as a limiting case. Finally, we argue that both Robin and generalized Wentzell boundary conditions are distinguished in the sense that they are invariant under the action of the isometry group of the AdS conformal boundary, a condition which ensures in addition that the total flux of energy across the boundary vanishes.Comment: 12 pages, 1 figure.     Kerr nonlinearities and nonclassical states with superconducting qubits and nanomechanical resonators

    We propose the use of a superconducting charge qubit capacitively coupled to two resonant nanomechanical resonators to generate Yurke-Stoler states, i.e. quantum superpositions of pairs of distinguishable coherent states 180^\circ out of phase with each other. This is achieved by effectively implementing Kerr nonlinearities induced through application of a strong external driving field in one of the resonators. A simple study of the effect of dissipation on our scheme is also presented, and lower bounds of fidelity and purity of the generated state are calculated. Our procedure to implement a Kerr nonlinearity in this system may be used for high precision measurements in nanomechanical resonators.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, fixed typo

    Radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of K_{l3}^\pm decays

    We calculate the model-independent radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of K_{l3}^\pm decays to order (\alpha/\pi)(q/M_1), where q is the momentum transfer and M_1 is the mass of the kaon. The final results are presented, first, with the triple integration over the variables of the bremsstrahlung photon ready to be performed numerically and, second, in an analytical form. These two forms are useful to crosscheck on one another and with other calculations. This paper is organized to make it accessible and reliable in the analysis of the Dalitz plot of precision experiments and is not compromised to fixing the form factors at predetermined values. It is assumed that the real photons are kinematically discriminated.     Scale dependence of the quark masses and mixings: leading order

    We consider the Renormalization Group Equations (RGE) for the couplings of the Standard Model and its extensions. Using the hierarchy of the quark masses and of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix our argument is that a consistent approximation for the RGE should be based on the parameter λ=V^ud0.22\lambda= |\hat{V}_{ud}| \approx0.22. We consider the RGE in the approximation where we neglect all the relative terms of the order λ4\sim\lambda^{4} and higher. Within this approximation we find the exact solution of the evolution equations of the quark Yukawa couplings and of the vacuum expectation value of the Higgs field. Then we derive the evolution of the observables: quark masses, CKM matrix, Jarlskog invariant, Wolfenstein parameters of the CKM matrix and the unitarity triangle. We show that the angles of the unitarity triangle remain constant.     O objetivo geral do estudo foi explorar à disposição à mudança dos padrões alimentares e atividade física nos descendentes de progenitores com diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DMT2). Aplicou-se un desenho descritivo correlacionar. A base teórica constituiu-se pelo Componente Genético (h²) e o Modelo Transteorético de Prochaska. Participaram 30 progenitores com DMT2 e 60 descendentes. Resultados e Conclusões: O 68% dos descendentes presentaram obesidade, 60% com risco de doença cardiovascular, 42% com resistência à insulina (RI) e 15% intolerância à glucose; nenhum dos fatores de risco associaram-se com as etapas de mudança. O componente genético para RI foi mínimo (h² = 1.37%). Uma maior proporcão dos menores de 40 anos (Xi² = 6.04, p = .020) e das mulheres (Xi² = 4.41, p=.040) contemplam diminuir o consumo de gorduras. Os resultados sugerem um maior peso dos fatores do meio ambiente sobre o estilo de vida nocivo dos participantes.El objetivo general del estudio fue explorar la disposición al cambio de patrones alimentarios y actividad física en descendientes de progenitores con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DMT2), aplicando un diseño descriptivo correlacional. La base teórica la constituyó el componente genético heredabilidad (h²) y el Modelo Transteorético de Prochaska; participaron 30 progenitores con DMT2 y 60 descendientes. Resultados y Conclusión: El 68% de los descendientes fueron obesos, 60% con riesgo de enfermedad cardiovascular, 42% con resistencia a la insulina (RI) y 15% intolerantes a la glucosa; ninguno de los factores de riesgo se asoció con las etapas de cambio. El componente genético para RI fue mínimo (h² = 1.37%). Una mayor proporción de menores de 40 años (p = .020) y de mujeres "contemplan" disminuir el consumo de grasas (p = .040). Estos resultados sugieren un mayor peso de factores del medio ambiente sobre el estilo de vida nocivo de los participantes.This study aimed to explore the disposition of diabetic parents' descendents in changing eating and physical activity patterns. It was based on the heritability concept and Prochaska's Transtheoretical Model. This is a descriptive-correlational study; participants included 30 parents, randomly selected, and 60 children. Results and conclusion: 68% of the children was classified as obese, 42% with insulin resistance, and 15% with carbohydrate intolerance. None of the risk factors was associated with the stages of change. The heritability factor was 1.37%; more people younger than 40 and women report decreasing in the consumption of fat food (Xi² = 6.04, p = .020; and 4.41, p = .040, respectively). These results suggest a high influence of environmental factors on the participants' unhealthy life styles

    Secuencia temporal en el swing de golf de jóvenes promesas

    The golf swing is a skill which could be classified as a high velocity hitting where the main goal is that the head of the golf club reaches its maximum velocity at impact time. Ten golf swings executed by four young players were biomechanicaly analyze. Automatic capture with Vicon Oxford Metrics © was used. The absolute values of the linear velocities were higher at men that at women. At the interval analysis, the downswing presented less variation than the backswing. The analisis of the maximum timing sequence showed that depending on the gender they described different order. At men, the secuence started with the hip movement, followed by, left elbow, left shoulder and the club head. At women the hips and left elbow occurred simultaneously followed by the left shoulder and the club head. El swing en golf es una destreza que podríamos catalogar de golpeo de velocidad donde el objetivo es que la cara del palo alcance la máxima velocidad en el momento del impacto. Se han analizado biomecánicamente diez golpeos de cuatro jugadores promesas, mediante el sistema fotogrametría 3D Vicon Oxford Metrics © de captura automática. En primer lugar se ha podido comprobar que los valores absolutos de velocidades lineales eran mayores en los chicos que en los chicas. El análisis de las dos fases del swing indica que la fase de aceleración (downswing) presenta una variabilidad menor que el backwing. El análisis de la secuencia temporal de máximos alcanzados en los segmentos muestra cómo las aEcciones de los mismos siguen un orden diferente en función del género. La secuencia en los chicos empieza por el movimiento de caderas y sigue con el codo izquierdo, el hombro izquierdo y el palo; en las chicas, las caderas y el codo izquierdo actúan simultáneamente seguidos del hombro izquierdo y del palo.Peer Reviewe
