α-Octa(isopentoxy)anthralocyanine has been synthesized and is found to have an unprecedented low-energy Q-band absorption and a low first oxidation potential
Examining the Effects of AAC Intervention on Oral Language in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Systematic Review
This systematic review researched the efficacy of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in increasing oral communication in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It may be used to inform best practice when working with children with ASD. The search strategy reviewed medical, social science, and communication databases. Inclusionary criteria consisted of peer-reviewed, quantitative research published after 2007 regarding children with ASD under age 18. The included studies used AAC interventions and measured spoken language outcomes. After conducting an initial database search with these criteria, a manual search was performed using references from the found articles. Results varied across studies. Although the trend demonstrates increases in verbal language with AAC intervention, few studies show statistically significant outcomes. The studies indicate that additional factors, such as verbal communication at baseline, may affect outcomes. AAC use did not decrease verbal language. Limitations included few randomized control trial designs, few study replications, and varied outcome measures. Based on the studies analyzed, implementation of AAC may increase the number of communicative acts, but may not reliably increase verbal language. Further research is needed to understand the most effective implementation of AAC intervention to increase verbal language. Higher quality research in the form of randomized control trials, and the replication of studies to confirm results is necessary to inform evidence-based practice. The findings are consistent with those of previous systematic reviews and meta analyses. Future considerations should include type of AAC, communicative act being measured, longitudinal studies, and increased use of formal measures.https://scholarworks.uvm.edu/csdms/1002/thumbnail.jp
The Euphrosyne family's contribution to the low albedo near-Earth asteroids
The Euphrosyne asteroid family is uniquely situated at high inclination in
the outer Main Belt, bisected by the nu_6 secular resonance. This large, low
albedo family may thus be an important contributor to specific subpopulations
of the near-Earth objects. We present simulations of the orbital evolution of
Euphrosyne family members from the time of breakup to the present day, focusing
on those members that move into near-Earth orbits. We find that family members
typically evolve into a specific region of orbital element-space, with
semimajor axes near ~3 AU, high inclinations, very large eccentricities, and
Tisserand parameters similar to Jupiter family comets. Filtering all known NEOs
with our derived orbital element limits, we find that the population of
candidate objects is significantly lower in albedo than the overall NEO
population, although many of our candidates are also darker than the Euphrosyne
family, and may have properties more similar to comet nuclei. Followup
characterization of these candidates will enable us to compare them to known
family properties, and confirm which ones originated with the breakup of (31)
Euphrosyne.Comment: Accepted for publication in Ap
Derailment of Religious Freedom: a Study Based on the Constitutions of Indonesia and India
India, being the largest democracy and Indonesia, being the third largest democracy in the world, have significant role in their basic attitude toward religious freedom among the world nations. Based on the Constitutions of the both countries, this study focuses on the religious freedom and its derailment in many ways. Religion plays a vital role in the society in moulding and building the civilization and humanity whether people accept it or not. It can affect the growth of the people positively or negatively. I would like to analyze the background of the Constitutional articles on religious freedom. How do the drafters of the Constitutions conceive of religious freedom in their respective countries? What were their dreams and aspirations when they drafted each article regarding the religious freedom in the Constitution? How much are they implemented or realized
Bibliography (Part - 4) The publications by the staff of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute 1996-2006 (A Diamond Jubilee Publication)
Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has been documenting
bibliographies on various topics. The Institute has published over a dozen such
bibliographies on various finfishes and shellfishes. Three bibliographies were
published during 1986, 1992, 1998 listing the publications of the staff of CMFRI
from 1948 to 1995. Since then, tremendous data was generated from both inhouse
and sponsored projects, leading to a good number of research publications in
national and international journals. A sincere effort has been made in the present
endeavour incorporating all the publications of the staff from 1996-2006. A total
of 2039 titles have been listed in the Bibliography Part IV including 25 titles
pertaining to period prior to 1995 which could not find a place in the earlier

Minimal Unitary Realizations of Exceptional U-duality Groups and Their Subgroups as Quasiconformal Groups
We study the minimal unitary representations of noncompact exceptional groups
that arise as U-duality groups in extended supergravity theories. First we give
the unitary realizations of the exceptional group E_{8(-24)} in SU*(8) as well
as SU(6,2) covariant bases. E_{8(-24)} has E_7 X SU(2) as its maximal compact
subgroup and is the U-duality group of the exceptional supergravity theory in
d=3. For the corresponding U-duality group E_{8(8)} of the maximal supergravity
theory the minimal realization was given in hep-th/0109005. The minimal unitary
realizations of all the lower rank noncompact exceptional groups can be
obtained by truncation of those of E_{8(-24)} and E_{8(8)}. By further
truncation one can obtain the minimal unitary realizations of all the groups of
the "Magic Triangle". We give explicitly the minimal unitary realizations of
the exceptional subgroups of E_{8(-24)} as well as other physically interesting
subgroups. These minimal unitary realizations correspond, in general, to the
quantization of their geometric actions as quasi-conformal groups as defined in
hep-th/0008063.Comment: 28 pages. Latex commands removed from the abstract for the arXiv. No

A formulation for the boundary-layer equations in general coordinates
This is a working paper in which a formulation is given for solving the boundary-layer equations in general body-fitted curvilinear coordinates while retaining the original Cartesian dependent variables. The solution procedure does not require that any of the coordinates be orthogonal, and much of the software developed for many Navier-Stokes schemes can be readily used. A limited number of calculations has been undertaken to validate the approach
Particle phenomenology on noncommutative spacetime
We introduce particle phenomenology on the noncommutative spacetime called
the Groenewold-Moyal plane. The length scale of spcetime noncommutativity is
constrained from the CPT violation measurements in system
and difference of . The system
provides an upper bound on the length scale of spacetime noncommutativity of
the order of , corresponding to a lower energy bound
of the order of . The difference of constrains the noncommutativity length scale to be of the order of
, corresponding to a lower energy bound of the order
of .
We also present the phenomenology of the electromagnetic interaction of
electrons and nucleons at the tree level in the noncommutative spacetime. We
show that the distributions of charge and magnetization of nucleons are
affected by spacetime noncommutativity. The analytic properties of
electromagnetic form factors are also changed and it may give rise to
interesting experimental signals.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures. Published versio
