Results of Czech adult (older than 18 years) population testing are presented. Five somatic parameters were determined: body height (BH), body weight (BW), BMI (BMI), fat tissue percentage (%FAT), and waist hips rate (WHR), which were measured by machine Inbody 720, with some socio-cultural characteristics. Questionnaires were used to examine parameters of individual sport activity, life status, education level and magnitude of settlement. The presented results show negative trends. All observed parameters seem to be more or less mutually connected. The values of watched characteristics (except BH) increase according higher age, both in groups of males and of females, too. Parameter BH shows that secular trend in Czech population continues, when younger generations are taller like olders. Majority of adult Czech population does not practice any sport activity. This prevailing inactivity of the population influenced negatively our watched somatic paramaters. Those individuals who are single or possess good education levels, have better results in all observed parameters. Magnitude of settlement determines only slight differences in these watched parameters. These results are part of The project "Creating a research team for the purpose of determining the level of physical activity (inactivity) in selected age groups of the population of men and women in the Czech Republic" (CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0044) and is financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic

In this contribution it was shown that the Czech adult population has a relationship between selected kinds of individual physical activity and civilization diseases (smoking and alcohol consumption), back and join pains. In this research is involved 5862 adult (over 18 years of age) Czech people of both sexes. Watched parameters were gained by questionnaire (totally 19 questions) from which we are discussing an influence of sport practicing (yes or not), character of the work (physical, physical and sedentary, sedentary or do not work) and kind of transportation to work (walking, biking, public transport, car or does not travel) on smoking, alcohol consumption, back and joints pains. Results demonstrated that over 72% of Czech adult population do not practise any sport. There were found only slight differences between watched parameters (smoking, alcohol consumption, back and joints pains) and those who are physically active or inactive. Back pains have over 70% of people, more often those not sporting. Join pains have about 55% and there are not any significant differences among groups. Very negative effects would be expected because of alcohol consumption – over 80% answered ‘yes I take alcoholic drinks’; more positive seems to be parameter smoking, about 22% of the sports group were practising smokers, while among non sporting it was about 32%. The parameter ‘character of the work’ does not show great differences; those who work physically smoke the least, those who do not work drink alcohol less like others. Also parameter transportation to work does not show any great differences; only those who use bike have significantly lower joints pains.Presented results are part of the project "Creating a research team for the purpose of determining the level of physical activity (inactivity) in selected age groups of the population of men and women in the Czech Republic" (CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0044) is financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic

INTEGRATE - Integrated 3D structural, thermal, gravity and rheological modeling of the Alps and their forelands

The aim of this project was to obtain a better understanding of the crust and the uppermost mantle beneath the Alpine orogen and its forelands and to test different hypotheses on the configuration of the subduction system as well as on the distribution of deformation and seismicity. Therefore, we have integrated the geoscientific observations publicly available so far on properties of the sediments and the crystalline crust (geometry, seismic velocities, and densities) with seismologically derived heterogeneities in the sub-crustal mantle into a consistent data-based 3D structural model that resolves the first-order contrasts in physical properties of the units composing the orogen and the forelands. The derived structural model was additionally constrained by 3D gravity modelling and used as input to derive a lithospheric temperature field based on petrological assumptions on the composition of the crust and mantle. This is done to study the effects of regional heat-flow into the Alps and their foreland basins. Starting from these 3D density thermal and lithology models, the integrated strength was derived and discussed in the context of stress and deformation fields. The project led to the successful completion of a dissertation by Cameron Spooner who obtained the highest possible grade (“summa cum laude”) from the University of Potsdam and published 4 high-level papers. Also, a Master thesis was successfully completed by Max Lowe at CAU Kiel that also led to a publication (Lowe et al. 2021). As members of the AAAGRG, the partners of CAU Kiel were significantly involved in the compilation of the new gravity maps for the Alps and their forelands (Zahorek 2021). The project contributed to “Theme 3: deformation of the crust and mantle during mountain building”, in providing the configuration of the different crustal units and of the lithospheric mantle. The project also contributed to “Theme 4: motion patterns and seismicity” in that it supported identifying spatial patterns of faulting and seismicity in relation to the rheological configuration. In response to its regional character, the project links with the different activity fields of the SPP and a continuous exchange of observations and modelling results with many working groups in the SPP and supported data processing and interpretation

Signal contents of combined monthly gravity field models derived from Swarm GPS data

The Swarm satellite constellation?s GPS receivers provide valuable gravimetric data, with which it is possible to observe Earth?s large-scale mass transport process. These data have become increasingly relevant given the on-going GRACE/GRACE-FO gap, and are thus needed to provide continuous observations of the Earth system. In this context, the overall accuracy and maximum resolution of the Swarm temporal gravity field models are parameters with interest to the wider geophysical community. We assess the signal contents of the gravity field model resulting from the combination at the solution level of four individual solutions produced considering different gravity field estimation approaches. The combination considers Variance Component Estimation (VCE) and is a service kindly provided by the European Gravity Service for Improved Emergency Management (EGSIEM) initiative. We assume that past GRACE solutions provide an accurate measure of the signal at the spatial lengths captured by the Swarm solutions. On the basis of this, we derive per-degree correlation coefficients and spatial correlation maps for a selection of monthly solutions that were obtained under diverse conditions of geomagnetic and ionospheric activities, as well as variability of non-gravitational accelerations

Dokumentace teoretických i praktických otázek takového přístupu z pohledu přesnosti radiální složky dráhy, klíčové složky především v družicové altimetrii. Hlavní rysy úlohy jsou dokumentovány na některých starších i doposud užívaných modelech gravitačního pole Země reprezentovaných lineární kombinací sférických harmonických funkcíApplication of satellite methods in various geoscience branches is based not only on the measurements´ accuracy, their amount and corrections, but also on orbit accuracy, used for observation. The satellite orbit is considered as a fix frame for measuring and therefore the projection of Stokes parameters accuracy to orbit accuracy is a common task. Conversely we can consider such way as a tool for evaluation of Earth’s gravity field models accuracy. Some theoretical and practical aspects are documented and discussed from the side of radial orbit accuracy, the key component of satellite altimetry, in particular. Main features are shown at chosen older and common used Earth gravity field models represented by the linear combination of spherical harmonious functions12513

In this contribution are presented results of testing 569 Czech adult people (273 males and 296 females) older than 18 years. There are discussed results in BMI, which was measured by machine Inbody 720. By questionnaire were learned parameters of sport practicing, magnitude of settlement, life status and education level. Presented results show negative trends. BMI parameter increases when the age arises: most of male groups and two oldest female groups are of overweight. Majority of adult Czech population does not practice any sport activity (71%). This of course influences BMI parameter, when those individuals, who do not practice sport mainly among male groups have again overweight and obesity. Magnitude of settlement also slightly determine watched parameter: in male groups is BMI level decreased with greatness magnitude of settlement, while in female groups can be seen opposite trends. Those who are single or possess good education level have better results in watched BMI parameter. The project "Creating a research team for the purpose of determining the level of physical activity (inactivity) in selected age groups of the population of men and women in the Czech Republic" (CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0044) is financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic

GNSS Profile from the Greenland Korth Expeditions in the Context of Satellite Data

    No full text
Over the last two decades, a small group of researchers repeatedly crossed the Greenland interior skiing along a 700-km long route from east to west, acquiring precise GNSS measurements at exactly the same locations. Four such elevation profiles of the ice sheet measured in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2015 were differenced and used to analyze the surface elevation change. Our goal is to compare such locally measured GNSS data with independent satellite observations. First, we show an agreement in the rate of elevation change between the GNSS data and satellite radar altimetry (ERS, Envisat, CryoSat-2). Both datasets agree well (2002–2015), and both correctly display local features such as an elevation increase in the central part of the ice sheet and a sharp gradual decline in the surface heights above Jakobshavn Glacier. Second, we processed satellite gravimetry data (GRACE) in order for them to be comparable with local GNSS measurements. The agreement is demonstrated by a time series at one of the measurement sites. Finally, we provide our own satellite gravimetry (GRACE, GRACE-FO, Swarm) estimate of the Greenland mass balance: first a mild decrease (2002–2007: −210 ± 29 Gt/yr), then an accelerated mass loss (2007–2012: −335 ± 29 Gt/yr), which was noticeably reduced afterwards (2012–2017: −178 ± 72 Gt/yr), and nowadays it seems to increase again (2018–2019: −278 ± 67 Gt/yr)

    No full text
In this article are presented results from questionnaire of 5.878 adult individuals in Czech Republic. There were applied various questions regarding age, sex, sport activities, habits and problems in life, magnitude of settlement, level of education, life status etc. Totally there were 19 questions. In this contribution we try to explain determination of sport activity of adult Czech population by parameters of sex, level of education (none education - fundamental - trainee - GCE exam - university) and life status (single - married – divorced – widowed - registered partnership). All respondents were derived in three groups: younger (age 18 – 34 years), medium age (35 - 54) and seniors (over 55). There is proved in this article that majority of adult Czech population does not practise any sport activity (over 70%); the older people are, the less sport activity they practise. Women groups are slightly worse. Also level of education determines sport activity. Individuals with high schools and university education practise sport significantly more often like others, also in this parameter are men slightly better. Life status also influences sport practise parameter. Better results have singles, married and divorced are slightly worse, while widowed are clear the worst. This questionnaire is part of The project "Creating a research team for the purpose of determining the level of physical activity (inactivity) in selected age groups of the population of men and women in the Czech Republic" (CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0044) is financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic
