Imperfect factor mobility, unemployment, and the short-period incidence of a capital income tax
A crucial feature of the short-run perspective in many policy-relevant issues is the existence of unemployment due to wage rigidities. At the same time, imperfections in the degree of factor mobility between sectors or regions determine the nature and flexibility of the responses of the economy to exogenous shocks. It is no wonder then that the incidence of taxation upon employment and income distribution is a central preoccupation of the fiscal authorities. In this paper we explore the structure of the incidence and the economic effects of a selective capital income tax in a neoclassical, two-sector, two-factor, short-period model in which the existence of a sticky wage that exceeds the maximum level consistent with full-employment leads to unemployment of labour .Tax incidence, capital mobility, unemployment, general equilibrium
Financial market failures and public policies
The financial turmoil, which began in the summer of 2007, has developed into one of the most disruptive financial and economic crisis experienced by the world in many decades. At the root of the crisis we find a combination of macroeconomic imbalances and microeconomic factors, including market failures and deficiencies in the design of regulatory and supervisory frameworks. This article analyses the underlying causes which contributed to the crisis and reviews the key measures adopted by public authorities to mitigate its effects as well as some of the lessons learned to make the international financial markets more resilient.Market failures, financial crisis, public policies, ECB
Se evidenció un incremento significativo de la sensibilidad (52%, 72% y 91%, p 30% is the viability criteria for 99mTc-MIBI SPET with better results to predict myocardial viability. No differences were observed in the results of 99mTc-MIBI and 201-Thallium SPET in the prediction of functional recovery after revascularization. Stress-rest reversibility are criteria of contractile recovery after revascularization
Public spending, prívate investment, and growth in O.E.C.D. countries: an empirical investigation
This paper is concerned with the empirical relationship between government spending
and prívate investment. A panel of 14 OECD countries is used. We present evidence which
suggests the existence of a significant crowding-in effect of prívate investment by public
investment, through the positive impact of infrastructure on prívate investment productivity.
Moreover, government consumption appears to crowd out prívate investment. The implications
of these resulte are of foremost importance when it comes to fiscal consolidation. Déficit
reductions engineered through cuts in public investment could severely impinge upon prívate
capital accumulation and growth prospects.
Adaptive neurofuzzy ANFIS modeling of laser surface treatments
This paper introduces a new ANFIS adaptive
neurofuzzy inference model for laser surface heat treatments
based on the Green’s function. Due to its high
versatility, efficiency and low simulation time, this model
is suitable not only for the analysis and design of control
systems, but also for the development of an expert real time
supervision system that would allow detecting and preventing
any failure during the treatment
