Lightweight reflector assembly
An inexpensive, lightweight reflective assembly member having good optical quality and particularly adaptable to accommodating temperature variations without providing destructive thermal stresses and reflective slope errors is described. The reflective assembly consists of a thin sheet of glass with appropriate reflective coating and a cellular glass block substrate bonded together. The method of fabrication includes abrading the cellular substrate with an abrasive master die to form an appropriate concave surface. An adhesive is applied to the abraded surface and a lamina reflective surface is placed under a uniform pressure to conform the reflective surface onto the desired abraded surface of the substrate

Conspiracy theories fuel prejudice towards minority group
Some 60 of British people believe in at least one conspiracy theory, a recent poll reveals. From the idea that 9/11 was an inside job to the notion that climate change is a hoax, conspiracy theories divert attention away from the facts in favour of plots and schemes involving powerful and secret groups. With the aid of modern technology, conspiracy theories have found a natural home online
A heavy body translating in a boundary layer: 'crash', 'fly away' and 'bouncing' responses
The study concerns a slender, heavy body moving with streamwise velocity in a boundary layer. Modelling assumptions on body size reduce the governing equations for the body motion to a pair of nonlinear integro-differential equations (IDEs) which displays a wide range of distinguished behaviours, including eventual collision with the wall ('crash'), escape to infinity ('fly away') and repeatedly travelling far from the wall and back again without ever colliding or escaping ('bouncing'). The paper gives a survey of the variety of behaviour, as well as asymptotic analysis and insight into each category of fluid/body interaction and the conditions under which crash, fly away and bouncing occur

Microencapsulation Technology for Corrosion Mitigation by Smart Coatings
A multifunctional, smart coating for the autonomous control of corrosion is being developed based on micro-encapsulation technology. Corrosion indicators as well as corrosion inhibitors have been incorporated into microcapsules, blended into several paint systems, and tested for corrosion detection and protection effectiveness. This paper summarizes the development, optimization, and testing of microcapsules specifically designed to be incorporated into a smart coating that will deliver corrosion inhibitors to mitigate corrosion autonomously.
