Substantial material, financial and human resources are dedicated to research on tumor biology. The validation of
biomarkers, the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic methods, the implementation of early detection
programs in communities, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles have positively impacted on the prevention and control
of this group of diseases. However, cancer remains a global health problem, due to the complex relationship between the
host immune system and the cancer cells. It is a fact that the immune system´s effector mechanisms enable the detection
and elimination of cancer cells. However, these immune mechanisms also promote the somatic evolution of tumors by
selecting cellular clones resistant to immunity. This complex relationship conceptualized as cancer immunoediting develops
mainly at the tumor microenvironment. Immunotherapy approaches are designed to reinforce antitumor immunity, while
blocking immune escape mechanisms. This review starts a series of three articles that are going to review the molecular
and cellular bases of the antitumor immune response, present the bases of tumor biology and, finally, address the
implications of the complex relationship between the immune system and neoplasias for cancer immunotherapy
A note on the existence and construction of Dulac functions
This paper is concerned with a predator–prey model with hyperbolic mortality and prey harvesting. The parameter regions for the stability and instability of the unique positive constant solution of ODE and PDE are derived, respectively. Especially, the global asymptotical stability of positive constant equilibrium of the diffusive model is obtained by iterative technique. The stability and direction of periodic solutions of ODE and PDE are investigated by center manifold theorem and normal form theory, respectively. Numerical simulations are carried out to depict our theoretical analysis
Directing the self-assembly of tumour spheroids by bioprinting cellular heterogeneous models within alginate/gelatin hydrogels
"Human tumour progression is a dynamic process involving diverse biological and biochemical events such as genetic mutation and selection in addition to physical, chemical, and mechanical events occurring between cells and the tumour microenvironment. Using 3D bioprinting we have developed a method to embed MDA-MB-231 triple negative breast cancer cells, and IMR-90 fibroblast cells, within a cross-linked alginate/gelatin matrix at specific initial locations relative to each other. After 7 days of co-culture the MDA-MB-231 cells begin to form multicellular tumour spheroids (MCTS) that increase in size and frequency over time. After similar to 15 days the IMR-90 stromal fibroblast cells migrate through a non-cellularized region of the hydrogel matrix and infiltrate the MDA-MB-231 spheroids creating mixed MDA-MB-231/IMR-90 MCTS. This study provides a proof-of-concept that biomimetic in vitro tissue coculture models bioprinted with both breast cancer cells and fibroblasts will result in MCTS that can be maintained for durations of several weeks.
competitivo que contribuirá al desarrollo de la provincia, región y del paísThe strategic plan developed for the province of Bongará, Amazonas region, has been
projected to the year 2030, and aims to establish strategies, based on the
analysis of the internal environment of the province, and policies for the economic and social
growth of Bongará . Currently, its population is dedicated to tourism, with its main natural
attractions such as the waterfall of Jumbilla, Gocta and the lagoon of Pomacocha; and to the
agricultural activity, being its products more cultivated: the potato and the coffee.
Vision, mission and values have been defined. In the first, it is desired to become one
of the ten first provinces with greater economic growth at the national level, through the use
of tourism and agricultural development. To achieve this, seven long-term objectives have
been formulated: (a) to be located in the third place with the largest influx of tourists at the
national level; (b) implement improvements to the road infrastructure of the local roads it has;
(c) increase potato production; (d) increase the cultivation of coffee; (e) reduce school
desertion in the primary level; (f) create technological institutes of higher education,
considering that there is currently no institute; (g) increase milk production. This in order to
ensure a sustainable development in time, for the benefit of its people, and to achieve a
competitive level that will contribute to the development of the province, region and countryTesi
