Visualization of uncertainty and analysis of geographical data

A team of five worked on this challenge to identify a possible criminal strucutre within the Flitter social network. Initially we worked on the problem individually, deliberately not sharing any data, results or conclusions. This maximised the chances of spotting any blunders, unjustified assumptions or inferences and allowed us to triangulate any common conclusions. After an agreed period we shared our results demonstrating the visualization applications we had built and the reasoning behind our conclusions. This sharing of assumptions encouraged us to incorporate uncertainty in our visualization approaches as it became clear that there was a number of possible interpretations of the rules and assumptions governing the challenge. This summary of the work emphasises one of those applications detailing the geographic analysis and uncertainty handling of the network data. ©2009 IEEE

TINDAK PIDANA JUAL BELI ORGAN TUBUH ANAK DITINJAU DARI UU NO. 35 TAHUN 2014 TENTANG PERUBAHAN ATAS UU NO.23 TAHUN 2002 TENTANG PERLINDUNGAN ANAK JO. UU NO.36 TAHUN 2009 TENTANG KESEHATAN

Berdasarkan Pasal 1 ayat (1) UU No. 35 Tahun 2014 tentang Perubahan Atas UU No.23 Tahun 2002 tentang Perlindungan Anak, anak adalah seseorang yang belum berusia 18 tahun, termasuk juga anak yang masih dalam kandungan. Berbagai pemberitaan baik media masa maupun media elektronik terutama media TV menayangkan tentang penjualan organ tubuh anak yang marak terjadi akhir-akhir ini di wilayah Indonesia dan luar wilayah Indonesia. Salah satu contoh kasusnya yaitu penjualan organ tubuh pada anak yang dilakukan dengan modus penculikan anak terlebih dahulu, setelah anak ditemukan ternyata dengan kondisi tubuh yang tidak lagi lengkap, sehingga terdapat beberapa permasalahan yang menarik untuk dianalisis, yaitu bagaimanakah pertanggungjawaban pidana terhadap pelaku tindak pidana penjualan organ anak berdasarkan Undang-Undang Perlindungan Anak jo Undang-Undang Kesehatan dan upaya apakah yang dapat dilakukan untuk menanggulangi kejahatan dalam jual beli organ tubuh anak berdasarkan Undang-Undang Perlindungan Anak jo Undang-Undang Kesehatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini Deskriptif Analisis, yaitu suatu metode yang bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran secara menyeluruh dan sistematis tentang tindak pidana jual beli organ tubuh anak ditinjau dari UU NO.35 Tahun 2014 tentang Perubahan Atas UU No.23 Tahun 2002 tentang Perlindungan Anak jo UU NO.36 Tahun 2009 tentang Kesehatan. Selain itu, permasalahan tersebut dianalisis dengan metode pendekatan Yuridis Normatif, yaitu dengan cara menguji dan mengkaji peraturan perundang-undangan yang berkaitan dengan permasalahan, sedangkan analisis data mempergunakan metode Normatif Kualitatif, yaitu menganalisis data dengan tanpa menggunakan angka-angka. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, maka diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa tindakan para pelaku tergolong ke dalam tindak pidana penyertaan (deelneming) dimana para pelaku dapat dipertanggungjawabkan pidana berdasarkan perbuatan yang mereka lakukan, dalam kasus ini para pelaku dikenakan Pasal 55 KUHP jo Pasal 83, Pasal 84 dan Pasal 85 Undang-Undang Perlindungan Anak dan Pasal 192 Undang-Undang Nomor 36 Tahun 2009 tentang Kesehatan. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan oleh pemerintah yaitu dengan memberikan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat bahwasannya organ tubuh bukan merupakan objek jual beli dan terdapat sanksi yang dapat menjerat para pelaku. A Deep Cascade of Convolutional Neural Networks for MR Image Reconstruction

The acquisition of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is inherently slow. Inspired by recent advances in deep learning, we propose a framework for reconstructing MR images from undersampled data using a deep cascade of convolutional neural networks to accelerate the data acquisition process. We show that for Cartesian undersampling of 2D cardiac MR images, the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art compressed sensing approaches, such as dictionary learning-based MRI (DLMRI) reconstruction, in terms of reconstruction error, perceptual quality and reconstruction speed for both 3-fold and 6-fold undersampling. Compared to DLMRI, the error produced by the method proposed is approximately twice as small, allowing to preserve anatomical structures more faithfully. Using our method, each image can be reconstructed in 23 ms, which is fast enough to enable real-time applications

The Intellectual Property Provisions of the United States-Jordan Free Trade Agreement: Template or Not Template

The objective of this article is to examine the implications of the intellectual property provisions in the US–Jordan Free Trade Agreement (US–JO FTA) and whether they serve as a template for other Arab countries who will be concluding free trade agreements with the USA. My claim in this article is that the intellectual property part of the US–JO FTA goes beyond the World Trade Organization Agreement and cannot form the right template for the proposed US–Middle East FTA of 2013. The first section provides a brief introduction to the US–JO FTA. The second section provides a critical analysis of the FTA’s protection of trademarks, copyright and patents. The third and fourth sections discuss enforcement and implementation of the intellectual property provisions of the FTA. The final section provides a conclusion regarding the intellectual property provisions of the US–JO FTA and highlights an alternative template for the proposed US–Middle East FTA
