Corpus Augmentation by Sentence Segmentation for Low-Resource Neural Machine Translation
Neural Machine Translation (NMT) has been proven to achieve impressive
results. The NMT system translation results depend strongly on the size and
quality of parallel corpora. Nevertheless, for many language pairs, no
rich-resource parallel corpora exist. As described in this paper, we propose a
corpus augmentation method by segmenting long sentences in a corpus using
back-translation and generating pseudo-parallel sentence pairs. The experiment
results of the Japanese-Chinese and Chinese-Japanese translation with
Japanese-Chinese scientific paper excerpt corpus (ASPEC-JC) show that the
method improves translation performance.Comment: 4 pages. The version before Applied. Science

Subsecond total-body imaging using ultrasensitive positron emission tomography.
A 194-cm-long total-body positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner (uEXPLORER), has been constructed to offer a transformative platform for human radiotracer imaging in clinical research and healthcare. Its total-body coverage and exceptional sensitivity provide opportunities for innovative studies of physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology. The objective of this study is to develop a method to perform ultrahigh (100 ms) temporal resolution dynamic PET imaging by combining advanced dynamic image reconstruction paradigms with the uEXPLORER scanner. We aim to capture the fast dynamics of initial radiotracer distribution, as well as cardiac motion, in the human body. The results show that we can visualize radiotracer transport in the body on timescales of 100 ms and obtain motion-frozen images with superior image quality compared to conventional methods. The proposed method has applications in studying fast tracer dynamics, such as blood flow and the dynamic response to neural modulation, as well as performing real-time motion tracking (e.g., cardiac and respiratory motion, and gross body motion) without any external monitoring device (e.g., electrocardiogram, breathing belt, or optical trackers)
A Study on the Spatial Effect of FDI on Regional Economic Growth: Empirical Test Based on the Dynamic Space Panel Model
The panel data of 30 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) from 1998 to 2017 are adopted, and the data are from China Science and Technology Statistical Yearbook and China Statistical Yearbook. Based on the dynamic space panel measurement model, the space spillover effect of FDI (foreign direct investment) on domestic economic growth is studied. The results show that FDI not only promotes the economic growth of the province, but also has a spatial spillover effect on the neighboring provinces. In addition, both the static and dynamic spatial panel models show that there is a significant positive spatial correlation between foreign direct investment and the provinces, and there is a spatial dependence between the neighboring provinces. This provides a preliminary theoretical basis for the rational utilization of foreign direct investment, optimize the spatial distribution of foreign investment and promote regional economic growth
Discovery of novel antitumor nitric oxide-donating b-elemene hybrids through inhibiting the PI3K/Akt pathway
A series of novel furoxan-based NO-donating b-elemene hybrids were designed and synthesized to improve the anticancer efficacy of natural b-elemene. The bioassay results indicated that all of the target compounds exhibited significantly improved antiproliferative activities against three cancer cell lines (SGC-7901, HeLa and U87) compared to parent compound b-elemene. Interestingly, these compounds displayed excellent sensitivity to U87 cells with IC50 values ranging from 173 to 2 nM. Moreover, most compounds produced high levels of NO in vitro, and the antitumor activity of 11a in U87 cells was markedly attenuated by an NO scavenger (hemoglobin or carboxy-PTIO). Further mechanism studies revealed that 11a caused the G2 phase arrest of the cell cycle and induced apoptosis of U87 cells by preventing the activation of the PI3K/Akt pathway. Moreover, 11a significantly suppressed the tumor growth in H22 liver cancer xenograft mouse model with a tumor inhibitory ratio (TIR) of 64.8%, which
was superior to that of b-elemene (TIR, 49.6%) at the same dose of 60 mg/kg. Together, the remarkable biological profiles of these novel NO-donating b-elemene derivatives may make them promising candidates for the intervention of human cancers
SDSS J013127.34032100.1: A newly discovered radio-loud quasar at with extremely high luminosity
Only very few z>5 quasars discovered to date are radio-loud, with a
radio-to-optical flux ratio (radio-loudness parameter) higher than 10. Here we
report the discovery of an optically luminous radio-loud quasar, SDSS
J013127.34-032100.1 (J0131-0321 in short), at z=5.18+-0.01 using the Lijiang
2.4m and Magellan telescopes. J0131-0321 has a spectral energy distribution
consistent with that of radio-loud quasars. With an i-band magnitude of 18.47
and radio flux density of 33 mJy, its radio-loudness parameter is ~100. The
optical and near-infrared spectra taken by Magellan enable us to estimate its
bolometric luminosity to be L_bol ~ 1.1E48 erg/s, approximately 4.5 times
greater than that of the most distant quasar known to date. The black hole mass
of J0131-0321 is estimated to be 2.7E9 solar masses, with an uncertainty up to
0.4 dex. Detailed physical properties of this high-redshift, radio-loud,
potentially super-Eddington quasar can be probed in the future with more
dedicated and intensive follow-up observations using multi-wavelength
facilities.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, accepted to ApJ
Narrative Strategies and Image Construction of Women’s Perspective Films under the Gaze Theory: A Case Study of the Film “Her Story”
In recent years, the Chinese film market has seen an influx of female-themed films with a focus on promoting “female power”. The increasing box office revenue of women-themed films has received widespread attention, but some women’s themed films still use this as a promotional gimmick, which does not meet the expectations and value standards of the audience. This article takes director Shao Yihui’s newest work “Her Story” as an example, using gaze theory to analyze the female perspective it presents, focusing on contemporary urban social issues, emotional topics, kinship and sexual relationships presented in the film, and analyzing how it uses a female perspective to subvert the traditional mode of “male gaze”. This article focuses on the construction of character images and changes in the perspective of the overall narrative core in this type of film, and compares it with other similar films in recent years to conclude that “anti-gaze” female perspective films have a certain help in establishing a female discourse system
