EFFECT OF EXERCISE TYPE, LENGTH AND INTENSITY ON THE BDNF AND SUBSEQUENTLY ON DEPRESSION AND BEHAVIOUR
Performance Analysis of Publish/Subscribe Systems
The Desktop Grid offers solutions to overcome several challenges and to
answer increasingly needs of scientific computing. Its technology consists
mainly in exploiting resources, geographically dispersed, to treat complex
applications needing big power of calculation and/or important storage
capacity. However, as resources number increases, the need for scalability,
self-organisation, dynamic reconfigurations, decentralisation and performance
becomes more and more essential. Since such properties are exhibited by P2P
systems, the convergence of grid computing and P2P computing seems natural. In
this context, this paper evaluates the scalability and performance of P2P tools
for discovering and registering services. Three protocols are used for this
purpose: Bonjour, Avahi and Free-Pastry. We have studied the behaviour of
theses protocols related to two criteria: the elapsed time for registrations
services and the needed time to discover new services. Our aim is to analyse
these results in order to choose the best protocol we can use in order to
create a decentralised middleware for desktop grid
EFFECT OF EXERCISE TYPE, LENGTH AND INTENSITY ON THE BDNF AND SUBSEQUENTLY ON DEPRESSION AND BEHAVIOUR
Pan African Medical Journal 2015; 2
Cerebral tuberculoma: an entity not to ignore
Cerebral tuberculomas are a rare and serious form of tuberculosis due to the haematogenous spread of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Symptoms and radiologic features are nonspecific, leading sometimes to misdiagnosis. We report the case of a 60-year-old male, with a history of diffuse bilateral infiltrative pulmonary disease at the stage of fibrosis, he made two generalized seizures associated with occipital headaches. CT scan showed a left frontal tumor, calcified lesion with edema around it. The patient was put under Depakine and corticosteroids. The evolution is marked by the occurrence of new seizures associated with heaviness of the right arm. Brain MRI showed a left posterior peripheral frontal meningioma with intralesional bleeding and significant edema around it with mass effect on the ipsilateral lateral ventricle. The patient was operated and the tumor was removed. In postoperative there was a Broca's aphasia with right hemiplegia. Pathological anatomical examination of the surgical specimen found a cerebromeningeal Granuloma with caseous necrosis in its pseudo tumor presentation (tuberculoma). The thoraco abdominal scan did not show any other tuberculosis lesions. The patient started antituberculosis treatment with 4 drugs (HRZE) for 2 months, followed by maintenance therapy (HR).The evolution was marked by the persistence of a right hemiplegia with Broca's aphasia. The patient was brought out in a wheelchair with functional rehabilitation sessions. The Pan African Medical Journal 2016;2
Towards Sign language recognition system in Human-Computer interactions
This paper presents a modeling approach for Sign language recognition which is introduced through a dialogue between deaf people and signing avatar. By this modeling approach, the system can be configurable as the scenario and the vocabulary can be modified or changed. Tow important elements are included to these modeling: the context and the prediction. The objective is to improve the reliability of sign language recognition system compared to the classic systems which generally do not use semantic concept
LIFESTYLE FACTORS AND MENTAL HEALTH
A number of lifestyle factors have been recognised to play an important role in positively modifying medical and psychiatric
diseases and their associated morbidity and mortality. These include, eating healthy food, greater physical activity, cessation of smoking,
avoidance of alcohol and illicit substances. Additional lifestyle factors for healthy living include, safe and peaceful environment,
optimal sleep, de-stressing and enjoyable activities, social connections/support and healthy mental activities. Physicians from
the ancient times, through the middle ages to the early 20th century have recommended adoption of healthy lifestyle factors such as
diet and exercise to manage medical and psychiatric disorders without really understanding their scientific basis.
In this short paper, we discuss the important role lifestyle factors play in morbidity and mortality related to many important and
common medical and psychiatric diseases. We explore how and if positively modifying lifestyle factors can help to improve and or
prevent medical and psychiatric disorders with particular emphasis on food, diet and exercise
