Un Simulador empresarial como herramienta práctica para la asignatura de Aprendizaje Automático

    Get PDF

A social and emotional model for obtaining believable emergent behaviors

Proceeding of: 13th International Conference, AIMSA 2008, Varna, Bulgaria, September 4-6, 2008This paper attempts to define an emotional model for virtual agents that behave autonomously in social worlds. We adopt shallow modeling based on the decomposition of the emotional state in two qualities: valence (pleasantness or hedonic value) and arousal (bodily activation) and, also, for the agent personality based on the five factors model (openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and neuroticism). The proposed model aims to endow agents with a satisfactory emotional state achieved through the social actions, i.e. the development of social abilities. Psychology characterizes these social abilities for: using the language as a tool (verbal and nonverbal communication), being learned, producing reciprocal reward among the individuals involved in the communication and for depending on the individual features. We have implemented our model in the framework of a computer game, AI-live, to show its validity.Publicad

Assessment-oriented Java development vs. Clickers' use in formal assessment of basic principles of dental radiology: The opinion of dentistry students

[EN]The integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) has generated a change in teaching methodologies au university level. The objective of this study is to check the effectiveness of interactive processes in summative assessment or learning-oriented assessment contexts using electronic self assessment processes (Java application) versus the use of audience response systems (ARS) or “clickers” in the classroom, from the point of view of students’ satisfaction measurement. The sample for this study is composed by the students of the first year of the Degree on Dentistry of the School of Medicine of the University of Salamanca, and which was carried out by means of a questionnaire, where 1 stood for total disagreement and 7 for absolute agreement; together with an statistical analysis (Conbach alpha) that allows us to value the reliability of the answers obtained. Results reflect the students’ answers to the questionnaire, as well as the relationship between the two systems. To conclude, there are certain coincidences when judging both assessment tools, but we also observe that there is a better predisposition towards Java system rather than to clickers. The job done by a coordinated interdisciplinary team formed by members of different areas has made it possible to build and validate interesting pedagogical materials, as well as to develop formative assessment strategies that could be generalized to other subjects in different degrees

SIMBA: a simulator for business education and research

    Get PDF
Business simulators are used for decision-making since different scenarios can be evaluated without risk. They are also used in business management education. The main goal of this paper is to introduce SIMBA (SIMulator for Business Administration), a new simulator that serves as a web-based platform for business education, permitting both classroom and distance education. This paper also adds a research aspect in business intelligence because SIMBA can be used as a fieldwork tool for the development and evaluation of intelligent agents. The simulator creates a more complex competitive environment in which intelligent agents play the role of business decision makers. This work has been partially sponsored by a regional project CCG08-UC3M/TIC-4141 of the Comunidad de Madrid, a national project TIN2008-06701-C03-03 of the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación of Spain and a contract with Simuladores Empresariales S.L.Publicad

Improving Production in Small and Medium Enterprises

Knowledge management has gained relevance during the last years to improve business functioning. However, there is still a growing need of developing innovative tools that can help small to medium sized enterprises to detect and predict undesired situations. This article present a multi-agent system aimed at detecting risky situations. The multi-agent system incorporates models for reasoning and makes predictions using case-based reasoning. The models are used to detect risky situations and an providing decision support facilities. An initial prototype was developed and the results obtained related to small and medium enterprises in a real scenario are presented
