The thioamide and quaternary amine parts of the title compound, C6H15N2S+·Cl−, are mutually almost perpendicular, the dihedral angle being 80.6 (7)°. The thioamide group is planar and adopts a Z conformation, whereas the amine end of the cation is in an extended conformation. In the supramolecular structure, molecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by two hydrogen bonds: N—Hamine⋯Cl and N—Hthioamide⋯Cl

Abstract. In the light of the usefulness of amidines in medicinal chemistry, this paper considers the effects on biological properties and chemical reactivities of organic molecules affected by intramolecular interactions. The study of chemical shifts has been an important source of information on the electronic structure of amidine salts and their ability to form non-covalent bonds with nucleic acids. The NMR and IR results demonstrate that hydrogen bonds are a force for promoting chemical reactions. The thymine O2 carbonyl oxygen in a close proximity to the amidinium cation does interact with the appropriately spaced amidinium NH donor moieties. The 1 H-15 N 2D NMR (GHSQC and GHMBC) spectra with natural isotopic abundance of 15 N fully confirm the intramolecular character of the bonds. A rule able to estimate the relative strength of the new multifurcated hydrogen bonds is given. The appearance of the ∆ή NH chemical shift differences near zero is due to the strong intramolecular interactions. The strength of the H-bond donation by acetamidines is reflected in the N-H dissociation/recombination process (positive charge shift has been invoked to explain other effects on benzamidines). The temperature dependence of chemical shift for the amidine NH protons in dimethyl sulfoxide solutions is herein discussed

The article is devoted to the myth of ‘Hercules at the crossroads’ and its ethical aspects. The myth was created in circles of Pythagoreans, and was kind of incentives to the right – according to the Pythagoreans – way of life. The echoes of the myth we can find in Plato’s philosophy, the life of Christ, as well as in popular movies such as Star Wars or The Matrix. The author of article adapts the myth of Hercules in their philosophical workshops ΛΕΓΩ-ΛΟΓΟΣ (LEGO–LOGOS). During the workshops ΛΕΓΩ-ΛΟΓΟΣ, participants read the texts of various philosophers: Plato’s, Aristotle’s, Cicero’s, Marcus Aurelius’, and later thinkers’: Leonardo Da Vinci’s, Descartes’ and others’. All texts are selected by a philosophical key, with a strong ethical message in the background built on the canvas of the myth of Hercules at the crossroads. This idea is presented by the author in order to illustrate its meaning with the help of classical philosophy and modern, philosophically saturated movies. The article is devoted to the myth of ‘Hercules at the crossroads’ and its ethical aspects. Incidence and outcome of microbiologically documented bacterial/viral infections and invasive fungal disease (IFD) in children and adults after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) were compared in 650 children and 3200 adults in multicenter cross-sectional nationwide study. Infections were diagnosed in 60.8% children and 35.0% adults, including respectively 69.1% and 63.5% allo-HCT, and 33.1% and 20.8% auto-HCT patients. The incidence of bacterial infections was higher in children (36.0% vs 27.6%; p  21 days were risk factors for death from infection. In conclusion, pediatric patients have 2.9-fold higher incidence and 2.5-fold better outcome of infections than adults after HCT

On Designing an Expert Diagnostic System of the Aircraft Turbine Engine Functional Units

    No full text
The paper presents issues related to the design of an expert diagnostic system of turbine engine functional units. Dedicated diagnostic stations and on-board flight data recorders are the sources of diagnostic signals. The signals were parameterized or identified dynamic models to get a compact representation in the form of a set of parameters. The set of diagnostic parameters was subjected to integer encoding. On this basis, a multi-valued diagnostic model describing the relationship between the set of faults and the set of symptoms (code values of diagnostic parameters) was determined. The proposed approach can be used in the design of expert diagnostic systems for propulsion units of any aircraft

The article presents the results of a laboratory gear stage with regard to deepening its consumption. In addition, the study looked at the construction of the transmission gearbox of a military helicopter, according to the basic kinematic results of the analysis of vibroacoustic signals, in order to determine the diagnostic criteria for the assessment of the technical condition of a military helicopter’s transmission gearbox
