The sparse component analysis framework is a powerful method for achieving this. Sparse orthogonal transforms, in which only few transform coefficients differ significantly from zero, are developed; once the signal has been transformed, energy is apportioned from each transform coefficient to each estimated source, and, finally, the signal is reconstructed using the inverse transform. The overriding aim of this chapter is to demonstrate how this framework, as exemplified here by two different decomposition methods which adapt to the signal to represent it sparsely, can be used to solve different problems in different mixing scenarios. To address the instantaneous (neither delays nor echoes) and underdetermined (more sources than mixtures) mixing model, a lapped orthogonal transform is adapted to the signal by selecting a basis from a library of predetermined bases. This method is highly related to the windowing methods used in the MPEG audio coding framework. In considering the anechoic (delays but no echoes) and determined (equal number of sources and mixtures) mixing case, a greedy adaptive transform is used based on orthogonal basis functions that are learned from the observed data, instead of being selected from a predetermined library of bases. This is found to encode the signal characteristics, by introducing a feedback system between the bases and the observed data. Experiments on mixtures of speech and music signals demonstrate that these methods give good signal approximations and separation performance, and indicate promising directions for future research

    Evaluation of physical factor affecting decision for creating the active community centers: the case of Malaysia

    Access to the Community center has widely been identified to be one of the most a significant aspect in community design and planning towards better quality living. Although, the Malaysian community centers are not being used effectively and these have been faced with lack of participation. Based on this problem, this study conducted to identify the physical principles for formulating a framework to access the active community center. It was aimed to compare the result of the scientific analysis with the user responses from the community centers’user. For this purpose a questionnaire survey was conducted among four community centers of Kuala Lumpur. In order to evaluate the current condition of Malaysian community center, the questionnaire was prepared based on physical factors. These physical factors contain two main priciples: the first was the accessibilityof the community center and the second was about physical condition of the builing. The results indicate the level of user evaluation in terms of physical factor which are provided in Kuala Lumpur community centers. The approach to investigate the physical factors of community centers in this study can be applied to even different types of public space. The results and improvement suggestions are suitable for other research, for the quality of public space and life in the community center

    Roof garden can be used as natural environment in an urban setting. Rooftop agriculture with green roof systems can become an attractive possibility. The aesthetic value of green roofs is considered important in cities where roof escapes are dominated by gray color and unattractive structures. The instant objective of this research was to examine on question: What is the resident’s preference of awareness regarding urban agriculture at rooftop garden? The purpose of this study is to understand the resident’s preference of awareness regarding urban agriculture at rooftop garden. The awareness and potential of rooftop urban agriculture are examined. In this research a method presented quantitative - survey questionnaire distributed among of residents in The Heritage condominium in Selangor and Sri Putramas 2 in Kuala Lumpur. The result is expected to lead towards cognition and awareness to elevate sustainable building and promoting the usage of urban agriculture at rooftop gardening residential building. In conclusion of this research contain the result of survey questionnaire that related to awareness of urban agriculture at rooftop garden who residents take part in the survey are agree with this section. Furthermore, this study help to residents for receive a perfect environmental in their live area

    Characterization of CdTe Films Deposited at Various Bath Temperatures and Concentrations Using Electrophoretic Deposition

    CdTe film was deposited using the electrophoretic deposition technique onto an ITO glass at various bath temperatures. Four batch film compositions were used by mixing 1 to 4 wt% concentration of CdTe powder with 10 mL of a solution of methanol and toluene. X-ray Diffraction analysis showed that the films exhibited polycrystalline nature of zinc-blende structure with the (111) orientation as the most prominent peak. From the Atomic Force Microscopy, the thickness and surface roughness of the CdTe film increased with the increase of CdTe concentration. The optical energy band gap of film decreased with the increase of CdTe concentration, and with the increase of isothermal bath temperature. The film thickness increased with respect to the increase of CdTe concentration and bath temperature, and following, the numerical expression for the film thickness with respect to these two variables has been established
