Polarization suppression and nonmonotonic local two-body correlations in the two-component Bose gas in one dimension
Separation of Time Scales in a Quantum Newton’s Cradle
We provide detailed modeling of the Bragg pulse used in quantum Newton’s-cradle-like settings or in Bragg spectroscopy experiments for strongly repulsive bosons in one dimension. We reconstruct the postpulse time evolution and study the time-dependent local density profile and momentum distribution by a combination of exact techniques. We further provide a variety of results for finite interaction strengths using a time-dependent Hartree-Fock analysis and bosonization-refermionization techniques. Our results display a clear separation of time scales between rapid and trap-insensitive relaxation immediately after the pulse, followed by slow in-trap periodic behavior
Extended chiral algebras and the emergence of SU(2) quantum numbers in the Coulomb gas
We study a set of chiral symmetries contained in degenerate operators beyond
the `minimal' sector of the c(p,q) models. For the operators
h_{(2j+2)q-1,1}=h_{1,(2j+2)p-1} at conformal weight [ (j+1)p-1 ][ (j+1)q -1 ],
for every 2j \in N, we find 2j+1 chiral operators which have quantum numbers of
a spin j representation of SU(2). We give a free-field construction of these
operators which makes this structure explicit and allows their OPEs to be
calculated directly without any use of screening charges. The first non-trivial
chiral field in this series, at j=1/2, is a fermionic or para-fermionic
doublet. The three chiral bosonic fields, at j=1, generate a closed W-algebra
and we calculate the vacuum character of these triplet models.Comment: 23 pages Late
Correlation Amplitudes for the spin-1/2 XXZ chain in a magnetic field
We present accurate numerical estimates for the correlation amplitudes of
leading and main subleading terms of the two- and four-spin correlation
functions in the one-dimensional spin-1/2 XXZ model under a magnetic field.
These data are obtained by fitting the correlation functions, computed
numerically with the density-matrix renormalization-group method, to the
corresponding correlation functions in the low-energy effective theory. For
this purpose we have developed the Abelian bosonization approach to the spin
chain under the open boundary conditions. We use the numerical data of the
correlation amplitudes to quantitatively estimate spin gaps induced by a
transverse staggered field and by exchange anisotropy.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures, 1 tabl
Implications of Space-Time foam for Entanglement Correlations of Neutral Kaons
The role of invariance and consequences for bipartite entanglement of
neutral (K) mesons are discussed. A relaxation of leads to a modification
of the entanglement which is known as the effect. The relaxation of
assumptions required to prove the theorem are examined within the context
of models of space-time foam. It is shown that the evasion of the EPR type
entanglement implied by (which is connected with spin statistics) is
rather elusive. Relaxation of locality (through non-commutative geometry) or
the introduction of decoherence by themselves do not lead to a destruction of
the entanglement. So far we find only one model which is based on non-critical
strings and D-particle capture and recoil that leads to a stochastic
contribution to the space-time metric and consequent change in the neutral
meson bipartite entanglement. The lack of an omega effect is demonstrated for a
class of models based on thermal like baths which are generally considered as
generic models of decoherence
Minimal Superstrings and Loop Gas Models
We reformulate the matrix models of minimal superstrings as loop gas models
on random surfaces. In the continuum limit, this leads to the identification of
minimal superstrings with certain bosonic string theories, to all orders in the
genus expansion. RR vertex operators arise as operators in a Z_2 twisted sector
of the matter CFT. We show how the loop gas model implements the sum over spin
structures expected from the continuum RNS formulation. Open string boundary
conditions are also more transparent in this language.Comment: 36 pages, 3 figure
International bullous diseases group: consensus on diagnostic criteria for epidermolysis bullosa acquisita
BACKGROUND:
Epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA) is a complex autoimmune bullous disease disease with variable clinical presentations and multiple possible diagnostic tests, making an international consensus on the diagnosis of EBA essential. -----
OBJECTIVES:
To obtain an international consensus on the clinical and diagnostic criteria for EBA. -----
METHODS:
The International Bullous Diseases Group (IBDG) met three times to discuss the clinical and diagnostic criteria for EBA. For the final voting exercise, 22 experts from 14 different countries voted on 50 different items. When > 30% disagreed with a proposal, a discussion was held and re-voting carried out. -----
RESULTS:
In total, 48 of 50 proposals achieved consensus after discussion. This included nine diagnostic criteria, which are summarized in a flow chart. The IBDG was unable to determine one procedure that would be applicable worldwide. A limitation of the study is that differential diagnosis of bullous systemic lupus erythematosus has not been addressed. -----
CONCLUSIONS:
This first international consensus conference established generally agreed-upon clinical and laboratory criteria defining the clinical classification of and diagnostic testing for EBA. Holding these voting exercises in person with the possibility of discussion prior to voting has advantages in reaching consensus over Delphi exercises with remote voting
