CP--odd Correlation in the Decay of Neutral Higgs Boson into , , or
We investigate the possibility of detecting CP--odd angular correlations in
the various decay modes of the neutral Higgs boson including the modes of a
pair, a pair, or a heavy quark pair. It is a natural way to probe
the CP character of the Higgs boson once it is identified. Final state
interactions (i.e. the absorptive decay amplitude) is not required in such
correlations. As an illustrative example we take the fundamental source of the
CP nonconservation to be in the Yukawa couplings of the Higgs boson to the
heavy fermions. A similar correlation in the process is
also proposed. Our analysis of these correlations will be useful for

Modelling Deformations in Car Crash animation
In this paper, we present a prototype of a deformation engine to efficiently model and render the damaged structure of vehicles in crash scenarios. We introduce a novel system architecture to accelerate the computation, which is traditionally an extremely expensive task. We alter a rigid body simulator to predict trajectories of cars during a collision and formulate a correction procedure to estimate the deformations of the collapsed car structures within the contact area. Non-linear deformations are solved based on the principle of energy conservation. Large plastic deformations resulting from collisions are modelled as a weighted combination of deformation examples of beams which can be produced using classical mechanics
Evaluation of protection in a mouse model after vaccination with Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculois protein cocktails
Whole-cell vaccines successfully reduce signs of clinical disease and fecal shedding of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP), however, these vaccines have some limitations. The present study was conducted to identify MAP proteins that might be candidates for the development of an improved vaccine. MAP proteins were screened for immunogenicity in naturally infected cattle and selected based upon reactivity in the interferon- (IFN-) and Western blot assays. Proteins (MAP1087, MAP1204, MAP1272c, and MAP2077c) were arrayed into 4 overlapping cocktails containing 3 proteins each. The efficacy of the proteins within these cocktails as vaccine candidates was evaluated by subcutaneous immunization of mice, followed by challenge with live, virulent MAP. All MAP protein cocktails significantly reduced the recovery of live MAP from the ileum, while cocktails 1 and 3 reduced colonization in the liver. No significant differences were seen in the mesenteric lymph node or spleen, however, cocktail 1 reduced viable MAP in the mesenteric lymph node compared to other treatments. Stimulation of splenocytes upregulated antigen-specific IFN- and IL-23 secretion in all treatment groups, regardless of vaccination. Interestingly, IL-4 was moderately downregulated for vaccinates compared to control infected mice. An increase in total CD25 expression was noted for 3 of the 4 vaccinate groups upon stimulation of splenocytes with a whole-cell sonicate of MAP, with this effect becoming more significant within CD4CD25+ and CD8CD25+ subpopulations. Atomic position localization via dual measurement
We study localization of atomic position when a three-level atom interacts
with a quantized standing-wave field in the Ramsey interferometer setup. Both
the field quadrature amplitude and the atomic internal state are measured to
obtain the atomic position information. It is found that this dual measurement
scheme produces an interference pattern superimposed on a diffraction-like
pattern in the atomic position distribution, where the former pattern
originates from the state-selective measurement and the latter from the field
measurement. The present scheme results in a better resolution in the position
localization than the field-alone measurement schemes. We also discuss the
measurement-correlated mechanical action of the standing-wave field on the atom

W Boson Inclusive Decays to Quarkonium at the LHC
In this paper, the production rates of quarkonia eta_c, J/psi, eta_b,
Upsilon, B_c and B_c^* through W boson decay at the LHC are calculated, at the
leading order in both the QCD coupling constant and in v, the typical velocity
of the heavy quark inside of mesons. It shows that a sizable number of
quarkonia from W boson decay will be produced at the LHC. Comparison with the
predictions by using quark fragmentation mechanism is also discussed. Results
show that, for the charmonium production through W decay, the difference
between predictions by the fragmentation mechanism and complete leading order
calculation is around 3%, and it is insensitive to the uncertainties of
theoretical parameters; however, for the bottomonium and B_c^(*) productions,
the difference cannot be ignored as the fragmentation mechanism is less
applicable here due to the relatively large ratio mb/mw.Comment: Updated to match the published version in EPJ
Electrode Polarization Effects in Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy
In the present work, we provide broadband dielectric spectra showing strong
electrode polarization effects for various materials, belonging to very
different material classes. This includes both ionic and electronic conductors
as, e.g., salt solutions, ionic liquids, human blood, and
colossal-dielectric-constant materials. These data are intended to provide a
broad data base enabling a critical test of the validity of phenomenological
and microscopic models for electrode polarization. In the present work, the
results are analyzed using a simple phenomenological equivalent-circuit
description, involving a distributed parallel RC circuit element for the
modeling of the weakly conducting regions close to the electrodes. Excellent
fits of the experimental data are achieved in this way, demonstrating the
universal applicability of this approach. In the investigated ionically
conducting materials, we find the universal appearance of a second dispersion
region due to electrode polarization, which is only revealed if measuring down
to sufficiently low frequencies. This indicates the presence of a second
charge-transport process in ionic conductors with blocking electrodes.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, experimental data are provided in electronic form

New contributions to heavy-quarkonium production
We reconsider quarkonium production in a field-theoretical setting and we
show that the lowest-order mechanism for heavy-quarkonium production receives
in general contributions from two different cuts. The first one corresponds to
the usual colour-singlet mechanism. The second one has not been considered so
far. We treat it in a gauge-invariant manner, and introduce new 4-point
vertices, suggestive of the colour-octet mechanism. These new objects enable us
to go beyond the static approximation. We show that the contribution of the new
cut can be as large as the usual colour-singlet mechanism at high transverse
momentum for J/psi. In the psi' case, theoretical uncertainties are shown to be

Skyrmion Excitation in Two-Dimensional Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensate
We study the properties of coreless vortices(skyrmion) in spinor
Bose-Einstein condensate. We find that this excitation is always energetically
unstable, it always decays to an uniform spin texture. We obtain the skyrmion
energy as a function of its size and position, a key quantity in understanding
the decay process. We also point out that the decay rate of a skyrmion with
high winding number will be slower. The interaction between skyrmions and other
