Regge description of two pseudoscalar meson production in antiproton-proton annihilation
A Regge-inspired model is used to discuss the hard exclusive two-body
hadronic reactions (pbar p ----> pi+ pi-, pi0 pi0, K+ K-, Kbar0 K0) for the
FAIR facility project at GSI with the Panda detector. The comparison between
the differential cross sections predictions and the available data is shown to
determine the values of the few parameters of the model.Comment: 9 pages, 13 figure
A new measurement of the structure functions and in virtual Compton scattering at 0.33 (GeV/c)
The cross section of the reaction has been measured at
(GeV/c). The experiment was performed using the electron beam
of the MAMI accelerator and the standard detector setup of the A1
Collaboration. The cross section is analyzed using the low-energy theorem for
virtual Compton scattering, yielding a new determination of the two structure
functions P_LL}-P_{TT}/epsilon and which are linear combinations of
the generalized polarizabilities of the proton. We find somewhat larger values
than in the previous investigation at the same . This difference, however,
is purely due to our more refined analysis of the data. The results tend to
confirm the non-trivial -evolution of the generalized polarizabilities and
call for more measurements in the low- region ( 1 (GeV/c)).Comment: 9 pages, 10 figures. EPJA version. slight revisions in the text and

Double-Spin Asymmetry in the Cross Section for Exclusive rho^0 Production in Lepton-Proton Scattering
Evidence for a positive longitudinal double-spin asymmetry = 0.24
+-0.11 (stat) +-0.02 (syst) in the cross section for exclusive diffractive
rho^0(770) vector meson production in polarised lepton-proton scattering was
observed by the HERMES experiment. The longitudinally polarised 27.56 GeV HERA
positron beam was scattered off a longitudinally polarised pure hydrogen gas
target. The average invariant mass of the photon-proton system has a value of
= 4.9 GeV, while the average negative squared four-momentum of the virtual
photon is = 1.7 GeV^2. The ratio of the present result to the
corresponding spin asymmetry in inclusive deep-inelastic scattering is in
agreement with an early theoretical prediction based on the generalised vector

Exclusive meson electroproduction from hydrogen at CLAS
The longitudinal and transverse components of the cross section for the reaction were measured in Hall B at Jefferson
Laboratory using the CLAS detector. The data were taken with a 4.247 GeV
electron beam and were analyzed in a range of from 0.2 to 0.6 and of
from 1.5 to 3.0 GeV. The data are compared to a Regge model based on
effective hadronic degrees of freedom and to a calculation based on Generalized
Parton Distributions. It is found that the transverse part of the cross section
is well described by the former approach while the longitudinal part can be
reproduced by the latter.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
Neuropeptide Y, somatostatin, and cholecystokinin neurone preservation in anaplastic astrocytomas.
Using immunohistochemistry, well-preserved neuronal cell bodies and fibres containing neuropeptide Y, somatostatin, and cholecystokinin immunoreactivity have been identified in all seven supratentorial anaplastic astrocytomas studied. These neurones have been shown not only on the edge but also in the depth of the neoplastic tissue. These neuropeptides were not present in 18 other intracranial tumours (3 astrocytomas, 1 subependymoma, 8 glioblastoma multiformes, 1 meningioma, and 5 metastases). In all 25 intracranial tumours studied, no immunoreactivity was found for vasoactive intestinal polypeptide, substance P, methionine-enkephalin, leucine-enkephalin, synenkephalin, neurophysin I-II, and corticotropin releasing factor
Synenkephalin in bovine and human spinal cord.
Synenkephalin, which comprises 70 residues at the aminoterminal of proenkephalin, was studied with immunocytochemical methods in the human and bovine spinal cord. Immunoreactive fibers had the same general distribution as methionine-enkephalin, but not as leucine-enkephalin fibers. They were found in all spinal layers and were most numerous in lamina II (outer zone) and V-VI (lateral portion). Synenkephalin immunoreactivity was overall less dense than that of the enkephalins. Study of the proton structure by measurements of polarization transfers in real Compton scattering at JLab
A preliminary analysis of polarization-transfer data at large scattering angle (70°), obtained in an experiment of real Compton scattering on proton, performed in Hall-C of Jefferson Lab, is presented. It is also discussed the relevance of this kind of experiments for shedding light on the non-perturbative structure of the proton, at low energy, and on the transition from the non-perturbative regime to the perturbative one, that occurs at high energy. Moreover, the possibility to extract Compton form factors and the Generalized Parton Distributions, one of the most promising theoretical tool to determine the total angular momentum contribution of quarks and gluons to nucleon spin, is emphasized
