    Complete electroweak one-loop radiative corrections to top-pair production at TESLA -- a comparison

    Electroweak one-loop radiative corrections to the process e^+ e^- -> t tbar are revisited. Two groups from Karlsruhe and Bielefeld/Zeuthen performed independent calculations of both (virtual and soft) QED contributions and weak virtual corrections. For the angular distribution an agreement of at least eight digits for the weak corrections and of at least seven digits for additional photonic corrections is established.Comment: 12 pages, minor improvement of soft photon correction

    Correlation of chlorophyll, suspended matter, and related parameters of waters in the lower Chesapeake Bay area to LANDSAT-1 imagery

    The author has identified the following significant results. An effort to relate water parameters of the lower Chesapeake Bay area to multispectral scanner images of LANDSAT 1 has shown that some spectral bands can be correlated to water parameters, and has demonstrated the feasibility of synoptic mapping of estuaries by satellite. Bands 5 and 6 were shown to be useful for monitoring total particles. Band 5 showed high correlation with suspended sediment concentration. Attenuation coefficients monitored continuously by ship along three baselines were cross correlated with radiance values on three days. Improved correlations resulted when tidal conditions were taken into consideration. A contouring program was developed to display sediment variation in the lower Chesapeake Bay from the MSS bands

    Correlation of ERTS multispectral imagery with suspended matter and chlorophyll in lower Chesapeake Bay

    The feasibility of using multispectral satellite imagery to monitor the characteristics of estuarine waters is being investigated. Preliminary comparisons of MSS imagery with suspended matter concentrations, particle counts, chlorophyll, transmittance and bathymetry have been made. Some visual correlation of radiance with particulates and chlorophyll has been established. Effects of bathymetry are present, and their relation to transmittance and radiance is being investigated. Greatest detail in suspended matter is revealed by MSS band 5. Near-surface suspended sediment load and chlorophyll can be observed in bands 6 and 7. Images received to date have partially defined extent and location of high suspensate concentrations. Net quantity of suspended matter in the lower Bay has been decreasing since the inception of the study, and represents the diminution of turbid flood waters carried into the Bay in late September, 1972. The results so far point to the utility of MSS imagery in monitoring estuarine water character for the assessment of siltation, productivity, and water types

    Final State Radiative Effects for the Exact O(alpha) YFS Exponentiated (Un)Stable W+W- Production At and Beyond LEP2 Energies

    We present the LL final state radiative effects for the exact O(alpha) YFS exponentiated (un)stable WW pair production at LEP2/NLC energies using Monte Carlo event generator methods. The respective event generator, version 1.12 of the program YFSWW3, wherein both Standard Model and anomalous triple gauge boson couplings are allowed, generates n(\gamma) radiation both from the initial state and from the intermediate W+ W- and generates the LL final state W decay radiative effects.     First order radiative corrections to Bhabha scattering in dd dimensions

    The luminosity measurement at the projected International Linear e+ee^+e^- Collider ILC is planned to be performed with forward Bhabha scattering with an accuracy of the order of 10410^{-4}. A theoretical prediction of the differential cross-section has to include one-loop weak corrections, with leading higher order terms, and the complete two-loop QED corrections. Here, we present the weak part and the virtual one-loop photonic corrections. For the photonic corrections, the expansions in ϵ=(4d)/2\epsilon = (4-d)/2 are derived with inclusion of the terms of order ϵ\epsilon in order to match the two-loop accuracy.     5G and AI technology application in the AMTC learning factory

    5G and AI (Artificial Intelligence) are changing industrial production and offer great potential for manufacturing enterprises. One of the effects resulting from the increasing quantity of production data is the increasing demands of transmission of large amounts of data, fast transmission speed, and rapid data analysis. However, merely relying on traditional communication technology and manual data processing does not lead to high transmission performance and low analysis time. It is essential to integrate 5G and AI technology to flexibly transmit large amounts of data and real-time data. To demonstrate the feasibility and potential of these two technologies, a concept was developed at the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) at the Tongji University (Shanghai, China) and further implemented in the AMTC learning factory in cooperation with wbk of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Karlsruhe, Germany) and Ruhr-University Bochum (Bochum, Germany). This paper presents the learning factory design in detail, describing the concept design, training environment and training phases in the AMTC learning factory. It is followed by a case study consisting of specific examples of 5G and AI, implemented in the AMTC learning factory.     Nonfactorizable QCD and Electroweak Corrections to the Hadronic Z Boson Decay Rate

    We present an analysis of two-loop mixed QCD and electroweak corrections to the decay of the Z boson into light quarks. We find that the naive factorization of QCD and electroweak corrections does not describe correctly the two-loop effects. The nonfactorizable corrections shift the width of the Z boson by approximately -0.55(3) MeV and increase the central value of the strong coupling constant determined at LEP by 0.001.Comment: 9 pages, Revte

    Accurate Determination of Phenotypic Information from Historic Thoroughbred Horses by Single Base Extension

    Historic DNA have the potential to identify phenotypic information otherwise invisible in the historical, archaeological and palaeontological record. In order to determine whether a single nucleotide polymorphism typing protocol based on single based extension (SNaPshot™) could produce reliable phenotypic data from historic samples, we genotyped three coat colour markers for a sample of historic Thoroughbred horses for which both phenotypic and correct geotypic information were known from pedigree information in the General Stud Book. Experimental results were consistent with the pedigrees in all cases. Thus we demonstrate that historic DNA techniques can produce reliable phenotypic information from museum specimens.© 2010 Campana et al.
