    El propósito inicial de este PAP, por ser el primer acercamiento a escenario, era realizar el diagnóstico de este, así como la introducción y asentamiento a los principios de la economía social y feminista, objetivos que fueron alcanzados. Este documento recopila la experiencia del Proyecto de Aplicación Profesional de Economía Feminista en el ciclo Otoño 2022 cuyo escenario fue el Centro de Atención y Desarrollo Integral del Formador (CADIF), se expone el proceso de diagnóstico que se tuvo al grupo para la co-creación de una propuesta de trabajo para el ciclo Primavera 2023. Fue relevante hacer el diagnóstico del grupo debido a que las personas que lo conformaban residen en diferentes zonas del Área Metropolitana de Guadalajara y sus condiciones socioeconómicas variaba bastante. Con base a los resultados del diagnóstico que arrojaron las necesidades de las y los beneficiarios se concluyeron 4 bloques específicos a trabajar en el ciclo Primavera 2023: control financiero, imagen y marketing, comportamiento organizacional y fundamentos legales.ITESO, A.C

    Mortality from gastrointestinal congenital anomalies at 264 hospitals in 74 low-income, middle-income, and high-income countries: a multicentre, international, prospective cohort study

    Background: Congenital anomalies are the fifth leading cause of mortality in children younger than 5 years globally. Many gastrointestinal congenital anomalies are fatal without timely access to neonatal surgical care, but few studies have been done on these conditions in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs). We compared outcomes of the seven most common gastrointestinal congenital anomalies in low-income, middle-income, and high-income countries globally, and identified factors associated with mortality. // Methods: We did a multicentre, international prospective cohort study of patients younger than 16 years, presenting to hospital for the first time with oesophageal atresia, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, intestinal atresia, gastroschisis, exomphalos, anorectal malformation, and Hirschsprung's disease. Recruitment was of consecutive patients for a minimum of 1 month between October, 2018, and April, 2019. We collected data on patient demographics, clinical status, interventions, and outcomes using the REDCap platform. Patients were followed up for 30 days after primary intervention, or 30 days after admission if they did not receive an intervention. The primary outcome was all-cause, in-hospital mortality for all conditions combined and each condition individually, stratified by country income status. We did a complete case analysis. // Findings: We included 3849 patients with 3975 study conditions (560 with oesophageal atresia, 448 with congenital diaphragmatic hernia, 681 with intestinal atresia, 453 with gastroschisis, 325 with exomphalos, 991 with anorectal malformation, and 517 with Hirschsprung's disease) from 264 hospitals (89 in high-income countries, 166 in middle-income countries, and nine in low-income countries) in 74 countries. Of the 3849 patients, 2231 (58·0%) were male. Median gestational age at birth was 38 weeks (IQR 36–39) and median bodyweight at presentation was 2·8 kg (2·3–3·3). Mortality among all patients was 37 (39·8%) of 93 in low-income countries, 583 (20·4%) of 2860 in middle-income countries, and 50 (5·6%) of 896 in high-income countries (p<0·0001 between all country income groups). Gastroschisis had the greatest difference in mortality between country income strata (nine [90·0%] of ten in low-income countries, 97 [31·9%] of 304 in middle-income countries, and two [1·4%] of 139 in high-income countries; p≤0·0001 between all country income groups). Factors significantly associated with higher mortality for all patients combined included country income status (low-income vs high-income countries, risk ratio 2·78 [95% CI 1·88–4·11], p<0·0001; middle-income vs high-income countries, 2·11 [1·59–2·79], p<0·0001), sepsis at presentation (1·20 [1·04–1·40], p=0·016), higher American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score at primary intervention (ASA 4–5 vs ASA 1–2, 1·82 [1·40–2·35], p<0·0001; ASA 3 vs ASA 1–2, 1·58, [1·30–1·92], p<0·0001]), surgical safety checklist not used (1·39 [1·02–1·90], p=0·035), and ventilation or parenteral nutrition unavailable when needed (ventilation 1·96, [1·41–2·71], p=0·0001; parenteral nutrition 1·35, [1·05–1·74], p=0·018). Administration of parenteral nutrition (0·61, [0·47–0·79], p=0·0002) and use of a peripherally inserted central catheter (0·65 [0·50–0·86], p=0·0024) or percutaneous central line (0·69 [0·48–1·00], p=0·049) were associated with lower mortality. // Interpretation: Unacceptable differences in mortality exist for gastrointestinal congenital anomalies between low-income, middle-income, and high-income countries. Improving access to quality neonatal surgical care in LMICs will be vital to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3.2 of ending preventable deaths in neonates and children younger than 5 years by 2030

    DNA Paired Fragment Assembly Using Graph Theory

    DNA fragment assembly requirements have generated an important computational problem created by their structure and the volume of data. Therefore, it is important to develop algorithms able to produce high-quality information that use computer resources efficiently. Such an algorithm, using graph theory, is introduced in the present article. We first determine the overlaps between DNA fragments, obtaining the edges of a directed graph; with this information, the next step is to construct an adjacency list with some particularities. Using the adjacency list, it is possible to obtain the DNA contigs (group of assembled fragments building a contiguous element) using graph theory. We performed a set of experiments on real DNA data and compared our results to those obtained with common assemblers (Edena and Velvet). Finally, we searched the contigs in the original genome, in our results and in those of Edena and Velvet

    Modified Classical Graph Algorithms for the DNA Fragment Assembly Problem

    DNA fragment assembly represents an important challenge to the development of efficient and practical algorithms due to the large number of elements to be assembled. In this study, we present some graph theoretical linear time algorithms to solve the problem. To achieve linear time complexity, a heap with constant time operations was developed, for the special case where the edge weights are integers and do not depend on the problem size. The experiments presented show that modified classical graph theoretical algorithms can solve the DNA fragment assembly problem efficiently

    The Inhibition of the FGFR/PI3K/Akt Axis by AZD4547 Disrupts the Proangiogenic Microenvironment and Vasculogenic Mimicry Arising from the Interplay between Endothelial and Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Cells

    Vasculogenic mimicry (VM), a process in which aggressive cancer cells form tube-like structures, plays a crucial role in providing nutrients and escape routes. Highly plastic tumor cells, such as those with the triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) phenotype, can develop VM. However, little is known about the interplay between the cellular components of the tumor microenvironment and TNBC cells’ VM capacity. In this study, we analyzed the ability of endothelial and stromal cells to induce VM when interacting with TNBC cells and analyzed the involvement of the FGFR/PI3K/Akt pathway in this process. VM was corroborated using fluorescently labeled TNBC cells. Only endothelial cells triggered VM formation, suggesting a predominant role of paracrine/juxtacrine factors from an endothelial origin in VM development. Via immunocytochemistry, qPCR, and secretome analyses, we determined an increased expression of proangiogenic factors as well as stemness markers in VM-forming cancer cells. Similarly, endothelial cells primed by TNBC cells showed an upregulation of proangiogenic molecules, including FGF, VEGFA, and several inflammatory cytokines. Endothelium-dependent TNBC-VM formation was prevented by AZD4547 or LY294002, strongly suggesting the involvement of the FGFR/PI3K/Akt axis in this process. Given that VM is associated with poor clinical prognosis, targeting FGFR/PI3K/Akt pharmacologically may hold promise for treating and preventing VM in TNBC tumors

    Weather and electrical demand and consumption data of a small Mexican community

    The development of novel technologies to mitigate the effects of climate change through Smart Grids requires energy related data. Unfortunately, this type of data is not always available in Mexico, especially from non-large urban areas and at the household level. Therefore, we present a dataset that contains electrical demand and consumption time series of 5 households within a small community in Mexico, at various resolutions, as well as weather data. The electrical demand is given in 15 min resolution, while the electrical consumption is presented in both hourly and daily resolutions. The data is contained within 15 separate .csv files; one for each household's resolution. In turn, the weather data is given in two .csv files (for outdoor and indoor variables, respectively) that together contain 24 meteorological variables measured in a 5 min resolution that is not always consistent. The dataset comprises of two separate folders that contain either the electrical demand and consumption files or the weather files. This dataset could aid in the development of novel smart grid methods and algorithms that might be able to push the energy transition in Mexico and other developing countries forward

    Development of a fragility model for the residential building stock in South America

    South America-in particular, the Andean countries-are exposed to high levels of seismic hazard, which, when combined with the elevated concentration of population and properties, has led to an alarming potential for human and economic losses. Although several fragility models have been developed in recent decades for South America, and occasionally used in probabilistic risk analysis, these models have been developed using distinct methodologies and assumptions, which renders any direct comparison of the results across countries questionable, and thus application at a regional level unreliable. This publication aims at obtaining a uniform fragility model for the most representative building classes in the Andean region, for large-scale risk analysis. To this end, sets of single-degree-of-freedom oscillators were created and subjected to a series of ground motion records using nonlinear time history analyses, and the resulting damage distributions were used to derive sets of fragility functions. © 2017, Earthquake Engineering Research Institute
