    SOCIAL NETWORKS, INDIVIDUAL ORIENTATIONS, AND EMPLOYEE INNOVATION OUTCOMES: A MULTI-THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE

    I examine individual innovation in organizations from a social network perspective. I employ two theoretical lenses to examine innovation outcomes in three separate empirical studies. First, I use a sociopolitical framework to examine how political skill and social network structure interact to predict successful innovation initiation and, ultimately, career success. I find that innovation initiation mediates the relationship between political skill and career success. Moreover, structural holes in employees’ social networks moderate the mediated relationship between political skill and career success such that the relationship is stronger for employees with many structural holes in their social network. Second, I use social resources theory to examine how the characteristics of employees’ social network contacts affect individual innovation behavior. Results suggest that there is a positive relationship between the average amount of professional experience of one’s social network contacts and individual innovation behavior. Similarly, there is a positive relationship between the average creativity level of one’s social network contacts and individual innovation behavior. Each of these relationships is moderated by social structure such that the relationships are stronger for those with fewer structural holes in their social networks. Third, I develop and validate a scale to assess employee behavioral orientations toward brokering disconnected social network contacts. The scale is found to demonstrate convergent, discriminant, and criterion-related validity based on data from two field sites and one student sample.     Kerncraft: A Tool for Analytic Performance Modeling of Loop Kernels

    Achieving optimal program performance requires deep insight into the interaction between hardware and software. For software developers without an in-depth background in computer architecture, understanding and fully utilizing modern architectures is close to impossible. Analytic loop performance modeling is a useful way to understand the relevant bottlenecks of code execution based on simple machine models. The Roofline Model and the Execution-Cache-Memory (ECM) model are proven approaches to performance modeling of loop nests. In comparison to the Roofline model, the ECM model can also describes the single-core performance and saturation behavior on a multicore chip. We give an introduction to the Roofline and ECM models, and to stencil performance modeling using layer conditions (LC). We then present Kerncraft, a tool that can automatically construct Roofline and ECM models for loop nests by performing the required code, data transfer, and LC analysis. The layer condition analysis allows to predict optimal spatial blocking factors for loop nests. Together with the models it enables an ab-initio estimate of the potential benefits of loop blocking optimizations and of useful block sizes. In cases where LC analysis is not easily possible, Kerncraft supports a cache simulator as a fallback option. Using a 25-point long-range stencil we demonstrate the usefulness and predictive power of the Kerncraft tool.Comment: 22 pages, 5 figure

    Charge Exchange in Low-Energy H, D + C4+ Collisions with Full Account of Electron Translation

    We report the application of the quantum approach, which takes full account of electron translation at low collisional energies, to the charge exchange process H, D + C4+ → H+, D+ + C3+(3s; 3p; 3d). The partial and the total integral cross sections of the process are calculated in the energy range from 1 till 60 eV/amu. It is shown that the present results are independent from the upper integration limit for numerical solution of the coupled channel equations although nonadiabatic couplings remain nonzero up to infinity. The calculated partial and total cross sections are in agreement with the previous low-energy calculations and the available experimental data. It is shown that for low collisional energies the isotopic effect takes place. They are of the form M=N×R12M=N\times\mathbb{R}^2_1, where (N,h)(N,h) is a Riemannian manifold of arbitrary dimension and MM carries the line element ds2=dh2+2dudv+f(x)δ(u)du2ds^2=dh^2+ 2dudv+f(x)\delta(u)du^2 with dh2dh^2 the line element of NN and δ\delta the Dirac measure.     Counting linear extensions of posets with determinants of hook lengths

    We introduce a class of posets, which includes both ribbon posets (skew shapes) and dd-complete posets, such that their number of linear extensions is given by a determinant of a matrix whose entries are products of hook lengths. We also give qq-analogues of this determinantal formula in terms of the major index and inversion statistics. As applications, we give families of tree posets whose numbers of linear extensions are given by generalizations of Euler numbers, we draw relations to Naruse-Okada's positive formulas for the number of linear extensions of skew dd-complete posets, and we give polynomiality results analogous to those of descent polynomials by Diaz-L\'opez, Harris, Insko, Omar, and Sagan

Y is given by composition with a unique Colombeau generalized function from Y to X. We also identify the multiplicative linear functionals from the special algebra of Colombeau generalized functions on X to the ring of Colombeau generalized numbers.     The individualised needs for service assessment (INSA) for children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance

    The Individualised Needs for Service Assessment (INSA) for children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance was developed in response to the lack of a systematic approach to needs assessment compatible with individualised service planning. Functioning is assessed for 10 functional domains. Service providers rate service provision using a taxonomy of generic service items that are generalisable and comprehensible across different organisational units and systems of care. In addition, service providers rate the anticipated clinical effectiveness of each service item and the acceptability of each item to the child or adolescent and family. Drawing on a similar logic structure to that characterising the Needs for Care Assessment of the British Medical Research Council, these data are linked to produce a need status, for example unmet need, no need and met need. The INSA may be suitable for use by service providers, planners, policy makers, researchers, managed care organisations and service purchasers
