In response to a longterm research program for a didactical ontology, this report intends to present the results and methods for representing didactical models from the ontology we developed. The question is: How can computer technology be used to support the communication of knowledge in an educational context? This question cannot be answered by psychological experiments that ignore the core of educational behaviour: the transmission of meaning (Hönigswald 1927). Therefore this article focuses on the didactical tradition. Computer technology as a medium requires a special form of knowledge organisation, which allows learners to go individually and in a reflective way through the content (Customized Learning Sequences), thus requiring teachers to produce individually navigable hypertexts. Individualization does not mean offering "pureâ€? self-directed learning, as learning presupposes instruction by others. We have to aid teachers in reorganizing knowledge to hypertexts that allows individual navigation. Supporting learners in finding their individual path is also a crucial factor. How to aid teachers and how to set up meaningful navigation aids will be discussed in four steps:\ud 1.) Theoretical considerations; 2.) First step of Web-Didactics: Decontextualisation; 3.) Second step of Web-\ud Didactics: Recontextualisation; 4.) Research. Which theoretical considerations are eternal for Web-Didactics

Simple trees in complex forests: Growing Take The Best by Approximate Bayesian Computation

How can heuristic strategies emerge from smaller building blocks? We propose Approximate Bayesian Computation as a computational solution to this problem. As a first proof of concept, we demonstrate how a heuristic decision strategy such as Take The Best (TTB) can be learned from smaller, probabilistically updated building blocks. Based on a self-reinforcing sampling scheme, different building blocks are combined and, over time, tree-like non-compensatory heuristics emerge. This new algorithm, coined Approximately Bayesian Computed Take The Best (ABC-TTB), is able to recover a data set that was generated by TTB, leads to sensible inferences about cue importance and cue directions, can outperform traditional TTB, and allows to trade-off performance and computational effort explicitly

THE NEXUS BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND INNOVATION. A LITERATURE REVIEW

Knowledge management is the new managerial discipline whose aim is to support the processes of knowledge exploitation, memorization, re-use and learning. Therefore, it can be said that knowledge management has, implicitly or explicitly, a strong relationship with innovation management. Despite this fact, knowledge management and innovation management have developed into two separate fields and two distinct contexts of research. Starting from these assumptions, the purpose of this paper is to examine how the connection between knowledge management (KM) and innovation management has been developed in the last 10 years. In order to achieve our goal, an etic approach is employed which encompasses an external view of meaning associations and real-world events. The research combines the qualitative with the quantitative perspective and the whole multi-stage process is dominated by an inductive approach. The analysis focuses on 894 articles that were published in knowledge management and innovation journals, mostly indexed in Scopus and Thomson Reuters databases, during 2006 - 2016. The main results prove that there is a strong connection between KM and innovation management although the number of KM journals that approach topics related to innovation is higher than the number of innovation journals that focus on knowledge-related issues. The concept of "innovation" is by far the most used in the analyzed KM papers, while the term of "knowledge" is frequently used as a generic keyword in the Innovation papers; only a few papers are about a specific topic such as product development, project management, and process improvement - in the case of KM journals - or organizational learning, social capital, and human capital - in the case of Innovation journals. The research findings have both theoretical and practical implications. On the one hand, it synthesizes how the link between knowledge management and innovation management evolved in the last 10 years. On the other hand, it may serve as a handbook of managerial guidelines; it brings forward the knowledge management approaches and tools which can be used for product or process innovations

This small volume with four papers illustrates the task of a comprehensive commentary on the wide-ranging, many-faceted work of Herodotus (and the possibility to solve it) by example of the story about the Median king Δηϊόκης told in book I (ch.s 96-101); they complement each other and are understood as the model of such an intra- and interdisciplinary commentary. The article most relevant from the Iranian point of view is by J. Wiesehöfer (“Daiukku, Deiokes und die medische Reichsbildung”, p..

"Ich glaube nämlich - sagen Sie das nicht weiter - daß es einen echten Documentary Film überhaupt nicht gibt", schrieb Erwin Panofsky im August 1942 an seinen Mit-Immigranten Siegfried Kracauer (Kracauer/Panofsky 1996, 11). Obgleich Michael Wadleighs "Woodstock" noch 28 Jahre nach diesem Argwohn den "Oscar" als best documentary erhielt, illustriert der Film die These Panofskys wie kaum ein anderer

Distributed enterprise search using software agents

In this paper we introduce a distributed information retrieval system using agent-based technology. In this multiagent system, each agent has its own specific task and can be used to handle a specific document repository. The system is designed to automatically comply with access restriction rules that are normally enforced in companies. It is used in the administration offices of the German capital city Berlin where it serves as a testbed for further research on aggregated search in an enterprise environment with roughly 50,000 employees
