Collision warning system based on probability density functions
In this paper, a collision warning method between the host vehicle and target object(s) is studied. A probabilistic collision warning method is proposed, which is, in particular, useful for objects, e.g. vulnerable road users, which trajectories can rapidly change heading and/or velocity with respect to time. A vehicle is equipped with the probabilistic collision warning system and its functionality is validated in experiments with a bicyclist as target object

Phosphorescence-Fluorescence ratio imaging for monitoring the oxygen status during photodynamic therapy
The effectiveness of photodynamic therapy is strongly dependent on the availabilty of oxygen. In the present paper we show that the ratio between photosensitiser phosphorescence and fluorescence is a parameter that can be used to monitor the competition between singlet oxygen production and other processes quenching the photosensitiser triplet state. We present a theoretical basis for the validity of this approach and a series of in vitro imaging experiments

Характер просторового розташування етносів по теренах Одеської області (друга половина ХХ ст.)
Background: Axial osteitis of the proximal sesamoid bones and desmitis of the intersesamoidean ligament has been described in Friesian horses as well as in other breeds. The objectives of this study were to review the outcome of clinical cases of this disease in Friesian horses and analyse the pathology of the bone-ligament interface. Case records of Friesian horses diagnosed with axial osteitis of the proximal sesamoid bones and desmitis of the intersesamoidean ligament in the period 2002-2012 were retrospectively evaluated. Post-mortem examination was performed on horses that were euthanized (n = 3) and included macroscopic necropsy (n = 3), high-field (9.4 Tesla) magnetic resonance imaging (n = 1) and histopathology (n = 2).
Results: Twelve horses were included, aged 6.8 +/- 2.7 years. The hindlimb was involved in all cases. Lameness was acute in onset and severe, with a mean duration of 1.9 +/- 1.0 months. Three horses were euthanized after diagnosis; 9 horses underwent treatment. Two horses (22%) became sound for light riding purposes, 2 horses (22%) became pasture sound (comfortable at pasture, but not suitable for riding), 5 horses (56%) remained lame. In addition to bone resorption at the proximo-axial margin of the proximal sesamoid bones, magnetic resonance imaging and histopathology showed osteoporosis of the peripheral compact bone and spongious bone of the proximal sesamoid bones and chronic inflammation of the intersesamoidean ligament.
Conclusions: Axial osteitis of the proximal sesamoid bones and desmitis of the intersesamoidean ligament in the hindlimb of Friesian horses carries a poor prognosis. Pathological characterization (inflammation, proximo-axial bone resorption and remodelling of the peripheral compact bone and spongious bone of the proximal sesamoid bones) may help in unravelling the aetiology of this disease
To disclose or not? Children’s tendency to disclose peer victimisation in elementary school
This study aimed to shed light on the prevalence of chronic peer victimisation among Dutch elementary school children and factors associated with (non-)disclosure of such experiences by victims. 5,961 students from 73 schools participated (51.5% male; Mage 9.96; 77.7% native Dutch). Results showed that 12.3% of all children were victimised chronically, of which 29.4% did not disclose. Multilevel logistic regressions indicated that girls, older and native Dutch children were more likely to disclose. Moreover, experiencing depressive symptoms prompts disclosing victimisation. Anxiety, high emotion regulation skills, and perceptions of cohesion in the classroom were negatively associated with disclosure. The disclosure was not related to frequency or duration of victimisation, self-perceived social acceptance, self-worth, impulse control, or perceived classroom climate. Our study reveals information on the prevalence of peer victimisation and its disclosure, based on a nationwide study conducted in 2016–2017. It gives important insights into factors associated with disclosing victimisation experiences

Perioperative management of children with glycogen storage disease type II-Pompe disease
Background: Pompe disease is a rare metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme acid α-glucosidase. Glycogen accumulation damages skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscles, causing a progressive and debilitating muscle weakness and cardiomyopathy. As life expectancy has much improved since the introduction of enzyme replacement therapy an increasing number of patients are referred for surgical procedures. Due to the potential cardiopulmonary complications, these patients form a high-risk group for the anesthesiologist. Aims: In this study, we investigated the incidence of perioperative complications in children with Pompe disease treated in our hospital since the introduction of enzyme replacement therapy. Methods: Anesthetic and perioperative data of children with Pompe disease treated between 1999 and 2015 in the Erasmus MC-Sophia Children's Hospital, University Medical Centre, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, were collected, retrospectively. Results: Of the 65 children with Pompe disease, 34 patients underwent in total 77, mostly low-risk, surgical procedures. Twenty-one children had the classic infantile form and 13 had a nonclassic presentation of Pompe disease. In 13 (16.8%) procedures, 1 or more perioperative complications occurred. Perioperative desaturation was the main complication (12.9%), followed by arrhythmia (3.8%) and heart failure requiring diuretic treatment (2.6%). One child died 2 days postoperatively, but this was considered unrelated to the procedure. Conclusion: Despite the potentially high anesthetic risk for children with Pompe disease under enzym
