A remark on asymptotic completeness for the critical nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation
We give a short proof of asymptotic completeness and global existence for the
cubic Nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation in one dimension. Our approach to dealing
with the long range behavior of the asymptotic solution is by reducing it, in
hyperbolic coordinates to the study of an ODE. Similar arguments extend to
higher dimensions and other long range type nonlinear problems.Comment: To appear in Lett. Math. Phy
Simple Non Linear Klein-Gordon Equations in 2 space dimensions, with long range scattering
We establish that solutions, to the most simple NLKG equations in 2 space
dimensions with mass resonance, exhibits long range scattering phenomena.
Modified wave operators and solutions are constructed for these equations. We
also show that the modified wave operators can be chosen such that they
linearize the non-linear representation of the Poincar\'e group defined by the

Steady state entanglement in open and noisy quantum systems at high temperature
We show that quantum mechanical entanglement can prevail even in noisy open
quantum systems at high temperature and far from thermodynamical equilibrium,
despite the deteriorating effect of decoherence. The system consists of a
number N of interacting quantum particles, and it can interact and exchange
particles with some environment. The effect of decoherence is counteracted by a
simple mechanism, where system particles are randomly reset to some standard
initial state, e.g. by replacing them with particles from the environment. We
present a master equation that describes this process, which we can solve
analytically for small N. If we vary the interaction strength and the reset
against decoherence rate, we find a threshold below which the equilibrium state
is classically correlated, and above which there is a parameter region with

Meteor showers of comet C/1917 F1 Mellish
December Monocerotids and November Orionids are weak but established annual
meteor showers active throughout November and December. Analysis of a high
quality orbits subset of the SonotaCo video meteor database shows that the
distribution of orbital elements, geocentric velocity and also the orbital
evolution of the meteors and potential parent body may imply a common origin
for these meteors coming from the parent comet C/1917 F1 Mellish. This is also
confirmed by the physical properties and activity of these shower meteors. An
assumed release of meteoroids at the perihelion of the comet in the past and
the sky-plane radiant distribution reveal that the December Monocerotid stream
might be younger than the November Orionids. A meteoroid transversal component
of ejection velocity at the perihelion must be larger than 100 m/s. A few
authors have also associated December Canis Minorids with the comet C/1917 F1

The effect of chlorhexidine and dimethyl sulfoxide on long-term sealing ability of two calcium silicate cements in root canal
Objectives. To evaluate the long-term effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) on the sealing ability and biomineralization of two different calcium silicate cements (CSC) in root canal. Methods. Sixty human third molar root canals were obturated with ProRoot MTA or Biodentine. Before obturation the canals were irrigated with saline (control), 2% CHX or 5% DMSO. Microleakage was tested after three days and after six months. After additional six months (12 months after root filling) the roots were cut into 2 mm thick dentine discs. The discs were stored in artificial saliva for one year. The bond strength was measured with the push-out method, and the failure mode was evaluated with a stereomicroscope. The most apical disc of each tooth was used for Vickers hardness test. Results. No significant differences between the groups was found in initial microleakage. The leakage increased significantly during the 6-month storage in all groups except in Biodentine-CHX group and Biodentine-DMSO group. CHX and DMSO irrigation significantly increased the leakage with ProRoot MTA with time, but there was no statistically significant difference compared to the ProRoot MTA-control group at six months' time point. CHX significantly reduced the push-out bond strength of ProRoot MTA. With Biodentine irrigation with CHX or DMSO resulted with significantly higher push-out strength compared to the Biodentine control group. Fracture analysis showed statistically significant difference in the distribution of the fractures between the groups, but neither CHX nor DMSO change the fracture pattern statistically significantly. With Vickers hardness test ProRoot MTA with and without DMSO as the final irrigant showed significantly higher dentin hardness than any Biodentine-group. Significance. Considering that aging increased the leakage in all groups except with Biodentine-DMSO and the differences in the push-out strength and surface microhardness data, it appears that the time-related biomineralizing effect of MTA and Biodentine does not improve sealing to dentin. CHX significantly reduced ProRoot MTA bond strength and increased pure adhesive failures with both cements. OB Stars in the Solar Neighborhood I: Analysis of their Spatial Distribution
We present a newly-developed, three-dimensional spatial classification
method, designed to analyze the spatial distribution of early type stars within
the 1 kpc sphere around the Sun. We propose a distribution model formed by two
intersecting disks -the Gould Belt (GB) and the Local Galactic Disk (LGD)-
defined by their fundamental geometric parameters. Then, using a sample of
about 550 stars of spectral types earlier than B6 and luminosity classes
between III and V, with precise photometric distances of less than 1 kpc, we
estimate for some spectral groups the parameters of our model, as well as
single membership probabilities of GB and LGD stars, thus drawing a picture of
the spatial distribution of young stars in the vicinity of the Sun.Comment: 28 pages including 9 Postscript figures, one of them in color.

A spin foam model for general Lorentzian 4-geometries
We derive simplicity constraints for the quantization of general Lorentzian
4-geometries. Our method is based on the correspondence between coherent states
and classical bivectors and the minimization of associated uncertainties. For
spacelike geometries, this scheme agrees with the master constraint method of
the model by Engle, Pereira, Rovelli and Livine (EPRL). When it is applied to
general Lorentzian geometries, we obtain new constraints that include the EPRL
constraints as a special case. They imply a discrete area spectrum for both
spacelike and timelike surfaces. We use these constraints to define a spin foam

A Dust-Penetrated Classification Scheme for Bars as Inferred from their Gravitational Force Fields
The division of galaxies into ``barred'' (SB) and ``normal'' (S) spirals is a
fundamental aspect of the Hubble galaxy classification system. This ``tuning
fork'' view was revised by de Vaucouleurs, whose classification volume
recognized apparent ``bar strength'' (SA, SAB, SB) as a continuous property of
galaxies called the ``family''. However, the SA, SAB, and SB families are
purely visual judgments that can have little bearing on the actual bar strength
in a given galaxy. Until very recently, published bar judgments were based
exclusively on blue light images, where internal extinction or star formation
can either mask a bar completely or give the false impression of a bar in a
nonbarred galaxy. Near-infrared camera arrays, which principally trace the old
stellar populations in both normal and barred galaxies, now facilitate a
quantification of bar strength in terms of their gravitational potentials and
force fields. In this paper, we show that the maximum value, Qb, of the ratio
of the tangential force to the mean radial force is a quantitative measure of
the strength of a bar. Qb does not measure bar ellipticity or bar shape, but
rather depends on the actual forcing due to the bar embedded in its disk. We
show that a wide range of true bar strengths characterizes the category ``SB'',
while de Vaucouleurs category ``SAB'' corresponds to a much narrower range of
bar strengths. We present Qb values for 36 galaxies, and we incorporate our bar

Global and local relaxation of a spin-chain under exact Schroedinger and master-equation dynamics
We solve the Schroedinger equation for an interacting spin-chain locally
coupled to a quantum environment with a specific degeneracy structure. The
reduced dynamics of the whole spin-chain as well as of single spins is
analyzed. We show, that the total spin-chain relaxes to a thermal equilibrium
state independently of the internal interaction strength. In contrast, the
asymptotic states of each individual spin are thermal for weak but non-thermal
for stronger spin-spin coupling. The transition between both scenarios is found
for couplings of the order of , with denoting
the Zeeman-splitting. We compare these results with a master equation
treatment; when time averaged, both approaches lead to the same asymptotic
