Twisting Magnetic Field And Multiple Resonance Mechanism In The Solar Neutrino Problem
The magnetic moment solution to the solar neutrino problem is investigated in the context of a solar magnetic field with varying phase velocity on the transverse plane. This phase velocity is assumed to successively take values which are approximately proportional to the solar density, giving rise to the appearance of many resonances along the neutrino trajectory. We obtain a magnetic moment necessary for a neutrino reduction compatible with the experimental situation in the range (6-7)×10-13μB, an improvement by a factor of 4-6 relative to the one resonance case under the same field conditions. © 1993.31701/02/15125129Lim, Marciano, (1988) Phys. Effects of magnetohydrodynamics matter density fluctuations on the solar neutrino resonant spin-flavor precession
Taking into account the stringent limits from helioseismology observations on
possible matter density fluctuations described by magnetohydrodynamics theory,
we find the corresponding time variations of solar neutrino survival
probability due to the resonant spin-flavor precession phenomenon with
amplitude of order O(10%). We discuss the physics potential of high statistics
real time experiments, like as Superkamiokande, to observe the effects of such
magnetohydrodynamics fluctuations on their data. We conclude that these
observations could be thought as a test of the resonant spin-flavor precession
solution to the solar neutrino anomaly.Comment: 16 pages, 3 figure
Does the galaxy correlation length increase with the sample depth?
We have analyzed the behavior of the correlation length, , as a function
of the sample depth by extracting from the CfA2 redshift survey volume--limited
samples out to increasing distances. For a fractal distribution, the value of
would increase with the volume occupied by the sample. We find no linear
increase for the CfA2 samples of the sort that would be expected if the
Universe preserved its small scale fractal character out to the distances
considered (60--100\hmpc). The results instead show a roughly constant value
for as a function of the size of the sample, with small fluctuations due
to local inhomogeneities and luminosity segregation. Thus the fractal picture
can safely be discarded.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ
Advancements in Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy: Expanding the Feasibility of Nephron-Sparing
Partial nephrectomy (PN) offers equivalent oncologic outcomes to radical nephrectomy (RN) but has greater preservation of renal function and less risk of chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular disease. Laparoscopic PN remains underutilized likely because it is a technically challenging operation with higher rates of perioperative complications compared to open PN and laparoscopic RN. A review of the latest PN literature demonstrates that recent advancements in laparoscopic approaches, imaging modalities, ischemic mitigating strategies, renorrhaphy techniques, and hemostatic agents will likely allow greater utilization of LPN and expand its usage to increasingly more complex tumors
