    Hybrid Modeling and Experimental Cooperative Control of Multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

    Recent years have seen rapidly growing interest in the development of networks of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (U.A.V.s), as aerial sensor networks for the purpose of coordinated monitoring, surveillance, and rapid emergency response. This has triggered a great deal of research in higher levels of planning and control, including collaborative sensing and exploration, synchronized motion planning, and formation or cooperative control. In this paper, we describe our recently developed experimental testbed at the University of Pennsylvania, which consists of multiple, fixed-wing UAVs. We describe the system architecture, software and hardware components, and overall system integration. We then derive high-fidelity models that are validated with hardware-in-the-loop simulations and actual experiments. Our models are hybrid, capturing not only the physical dynamics of the aircraft, but also the mode switching logic that supervises lower level controllers. We conclude with a description of cooperative control experiments involving two fixed-wing UAVs

    How do supply chain management and information systems practices influence operational performance?:Evidence from emerging country SMEs

    This study first provides a comparative analysis of the impact of supply chain management (SCM) and information systems (IS) practices on operational performance (OPER) of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in two neighbouring emerging country markets of Turkey and Bulgaria. Then, we investigate moderating effects of both SCM–IS-linked enablers and inhibitors on the links between SCM and IS practices and OPER of SMEs. To this end, we first empirically identify the underlying dimensions of SCM and IS practices, and SCM–IS-related enabling and inhibiting factors. Second, a series of regression analyses are undertaken to estimate the impact of the study's constructs on OPER of SMEs. The results are discussed comparatively within the contexts of both Turkish and Bulgarian SMEs and beyond. The study makes a significant contribution to the extant literature through obtaining and analysing cross-national survey data of SCM and IS practices in emerging country markets

    The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C21H18ClN3O, contains two crystallographically independent mol­ecules which differ slightly in the orientations of chloro­benz­yloxy units. In one of the mol­ecules, the phenyl and chloro­phenyl rings are oriented at dihedral angles of 38.09 (6) and 42.15 (6)°, respectively, with respect to the benzotriazole ring [43.23 (6) and 29.80 (6)° in the other mol­ecule]. The dihedral angle between the phenyl and chloro­phenyl rings is 77.63 (6)° in one of the mol­ecules and 72.97 (6)° in the other. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C—H⋯π inter­actions

    Pricing Options in Incomplete Equity Markets via the Instantaneous Sharpe Ratio

    We use a continuous version of the standard deviation premium principle for pricing in incomplete equity markets by assuming that the investor issuing an unhedgeable derivative security requires compensation for this risk in the form of a pre-specified instantaneous Sharpe ratio. First, we apply our method to price options on non-traded assets for which there is a traded asset that is correlated to the non-traded asset. Our main contribution to this particular problem is to show that our seller/buyer prices are the upper/lower good deal bounds of Cochrane and Sa\'{a}-Requejo (2000) and of Bj\"{o}rk and Slinko (2006) and to determine the analytical properties of these prices. Second, we apply our method to price options in the presence of stochastic volatility.     Characterization of 1- and 2-mu m-wavelength laser-produced microdroplet-tin plasma for generating extreme-ultraviolet light

    Experimental spectroscopic studies are presented, in a 5.5-25.5 nm extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) wavelength range, of the light emitted from plasma produced by the irradiation of tin microdroplets by 5-ns-pulsed, 2-mu m-wavelength laser light. Emission spectra are compared to those obtained from plasma driven by 1-mu m-wavelength laser light over a range of laser intensities spanning approximately (0.3-5) x 10(11) W/cm(2), under otherwise identical conditions. Over this range of drive laser intensities, we find that similar spectra and underlying plasma charge state distributions are obtained when keeping the ratio of 1- to 2-mu m laser intensities fixed at a value of 2.1(6), which is in good agreement with RALEF-2D radiation-hydrodynamic simulations. Our experimental findings, supported by the simulations, indicate an approximately inversely proportional scaling similar to lambda(-1) of the relevant plasma electron density, and of the aforementioned required drive laser intensities, with drive laser wavelength lambda. This scaling also extends to the optical depth that is captured in the observed changes in spectra over a range of droplet diameters spanning 16-51 mu m at a constant laser intensity that maximizes the emission in a 2% bandwidth around 13.5 nm relative to the total spectral energy, the bandwidth relevant for EUV lithography. The significant improvement of the spectral performance of the 2-mu m- versus 1-mu m driven plasma provides strong motivation for the development of high-power, high-energy near-infrared lasers to enable the development of more efficient and powerful sources of EUV light

    EUV spectroscopy of Sn5+-Sn(10+)ions in an electron beam ion trap and laser-produced plasmas

    Emission spectra from multiply-charged Sn5+ –Sn10+ions are recorded from an electron beam ion trap (EBIT) and from laser-produced plasma (LPP) in the extreme ultraviolet range relevant for nanolithographic applications. Features in the wavelength regime between 12.6 and 20.8 nm are studied. Using the Cowan code, emission line features of the charge-state-resolved Sn ion spectra obtained from the EBIT are identified. Emission features from tin LPP either from a liquid micro-droplet or planar solid target are subsequently identified and assigned to specific charge states using the EBIT data. For the planar solid tin target, the 4d–5p transitions of Sn8+ –Sn10+ions are shown to dominate the long-wavelength part of the measured spectrum and transitions of type 4d–4f + 4p–4d are visible in absorption. For the droplet target case, a clear increase in the charge state distribution with increasing laser intensity is observed. This qualitatively demonstrates the potential of using long-wavelength out-of-band emission features to probe the charge states contributing to the strong unresolved transition array at 13.5 nm relevant for nanolithography

    Drosophila melanogaster auxilin regulates the internalization of Delta to control activity of the Notch signaling pathway

    We have isolated mutations in the Drosophila melanogaster homologue of auxilin, a J-domain–containing protein known to cooperate with Hsc70 in the disassembly of clathrin coats from clathrin-coated vesicles in vitro. Consistent with this biochemical role, animals with reduced auxilin function exhibit genetic interactions with Hsc70 and clathrin. Interestingly, the auxilin mutations interact specifically with Notch and disrupt several Notch-mediated processes. Genetic evidence places auxilin function in the signal-sending cells, upstream of Notch receptor activation, suggesting that the relevant cargo for this auxilin-mediated endocytosis is the Notch ligand Delta. Indeed, the localization of Delta protein is disrupted in auxilin mutant tissues. Thus, our data suggest that auxilin is an integral component of the Notch signaling pathway, participating in the ubiquitin-dependent endocytosis of Delta. Furthermore, the fact that auxilin is required for Notch signaling suggests that ligand endocytosis in the signal-sending cells needs to proceed past coat disassembly to activate Notch

In the crystal structure, inter­molecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol­ecules into chains along the b axis. Aromatic π–π contacts between benzene rings and between triazole and benzene rings [centroid–centroid distances = 3.8133 (8) and 3.7810 (8) Å, respectively], as well as a weak C—H⋯π inter­action involving the phenyl ring, are also observed
