Seismic Attribute Analysis for Prospect Delineation in ‘TMB’ Field, Niger Delta Basin, Nigeria

The ‘TMB’ Field was evaluated to detect hydrocarbon prospects for the purpose of increasing production volume using seismic attribute analyses. A total of eight sand tops were correlated across the Wells and faults orientation with significant displacement were picked across the field. Three horizons (Res. E, Res. H and Res. J) were used to generate the time maps which were converted to depths by a polynomial function from Time-Depth relationship. Two of the faults are major syn-tectonic growth faults that divides the field into three Fault Blocks (FB1, FB2 and FB3). Seismic attributes (Average Energy, Root Mean Square (RMS), Sweetness and Relative Acoustic Impedance (RAI)) amplitudes were examined to identify hydrocarbon prospect in the reservoirs. An area of interest (prospect) in one of the Fault Blocks (FB3) revealed attribute amplitude responses that suggest the presence of hydrocarbon was identified. The extracted attribute from Average energy, RMS and Sweetness attributes showed high amplitudes similar to attributes obtained from areas around Well log locations (proven area). Normal curves from attribute’s histogram distributions support hydrocarbon presence in FB3. The observed prospects are vertically stacked with fault-dependent anticlinal closures that serves as trap within the FB3 fault block

Classical, novel and atypical isoforms of PKC stimulate ANF- and TRE/AP-1-regulated-promoter activity in ventricular cardiomyocytes

Cultured neonatal rat ventricular myocytes were co-transfected with expression plasmids encoding protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms from each of the PKC subfamilies (classical PKC-α, novel PKC-ε or atypical PKC-ξ) together with an atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) reporter plasmid. Each PKC had been rendered constitutively active by a single Ala→Glu mutation or a small deletion in the inhibitory pseudosubstrate site. cPKC-α, nPKC-ε or aPKC-ξ expression plasmids each stimulated ANF-promoter activity and expression of a reporter gene under the control of a 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate-response element (TRE). Upregulation of the ANF promoter is characteristic of the hypertrophic response in the heart ventricle and a TRE is present in the ANF promoter. Thus all subfamilies of PKC may have the potential to contribute to hypertrophic response in cardiomyocytes

Dysmenorrhea is pain before, during or after menstruation. One of the common physical symptoms that occur during the women menstruate is dysmenorrhea. In the menstrual period occur that encourage emotional changes. The most obvious emotional changes take place at beginning in release ovum. The women usually tend to be lazy, irritability and hypersensitivity. So that needed to coping mechanisms that every effort directed at managing stress, including efforts to resolve the problems. Purposethe relationship of coping mechanisms with emotion regulation in fifth levels studentdysmenorrhea that at Scientific Study Nursing at Medical Faculty of Sam Ratulangi University. Design Research use cross sectional analytical survey. Conclusionresult of this research there is relationship of coping mechanisms with emotion regulation in fifth levels student that dysmenorrhea at Study Nursing at Medical Faculty of Sam Ratulangi University. Keyword : Coping Mechanisms, Emotion Regulation, Dysmenorrhea Dismenore merupakan nyeri sebelum, sewaktu atau sesudah haid.

Religious Vehicle Stickers in Nigeria: a discourse of identity, faith and social vision

    Get PDF
This study focuses on analysing the ways in which vehicle stickers construct individual and group identities, people’s religious faith and social vision in the context of religious assumptions and practices in Nigeria. Data comprise 73 vehicle stickers collected in Lagos and Ota, between 2006 and 2007 and are analysed within the framework of the post-structuralist model of discourse analysis which views discourse as a product of a complex system of social and institutional practices that sustain its continuous existence (Derrida, 1982; Fairclough, 1989, 1992, 1995; Foucault, 1972, 1981). Results show that through stickers people define their individual and group identities within religious institutional practices. And as a means of group identification, they guarantee social security and privileges. In constructing social vision the stickers help mould the individual aspiration about a future which transcends the present. Significantly, stickers in the data also reveal the tension between Islam and Christianity and the struggle to propagate one above the other. KEY WORDS: assumption, discourse, discursive, practices, religion, stickers

The Surgical Infection Society revised guidelines on the management of intra-abdominal infection

    Get PDF
Background: Previous evidence-based guidelines on the management of intra-abdominal infection (IAI) were published by the Surgical Infection Society (SIS) in 1992, 2002, and 2010. At the time the most recent guideline was released, the plan was to update the guideline every five years to ensure the timeliness and appropriateness of the recommendations. Methods: Based on the previous guidelines, the task force outlined a number of topics related to the treatment of patients with IAI and then developed key questions on these various topics. All questions were approached using general and specific literature searches, focusing on articles and other information published since 2008. These publications and additional materials published before 2008 were reviewed by the task force as a whole or by individual subgroups as to relevance to individual questions. Recommendations were developed by a process of iterative consensus, with all task force members voting to accept or reject each recommendation. Grading was based on the GRADE (Grades of Recommendation Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) system; the quality of the evidence was graded as high, moderate, or weak, and the strength of the recommendation was graded as strong or weak. Review of the document was performed by members of the SIS who were not on the task force. After responses were made to all critiques, the document was approved as an official guideline of the SIS by the Executive Council. Results: This guideline summarizes the current recommendations developed by the task force on the treatment of patients who have IAI. Evidence-based recommendations have been made regarding risk assessment in individual patients; source control; the timing, selection, and duration of antimicrobial therapy; and suggested approaches to patients who fail initial therapy. Additional recommendations related to the treatment of pediatric patients with IAI have been included. Summary: The current recommendations of the SIS regarding the treatment of patients with IAI are provided in this guideline
