The difference of student\u27s learning achievement is influenced by multiple factors such as school readiness and intelligence. This research aims to examine of school readiness and intelligence predict on learning achievement. The data were collected by employing intelligence test and student\u27s academic report. The subjects of this research was 104 students (52 male and 52 female students aged 7-8) of grade 1 of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Bantul, Yogyakarta, academic year 2016/2017. The collected data were then analysed by linear regression statistics. The results show school readiness and intelligence predict learning achievement

Growing number of vehicles in recent years has an impact to road capacity and parking spaces. Even with support of an efficient public transport, some users prefer to use their personal vehicles. Hence, it resulted in lack of parking space in public areas. Looking for parking spaces is time, money and fuel consuming and causes unnecessary stress to drivers. This work will design and develop the sensing infrastructure which will be used as a part of an integrated smart parking system that integrates the sensing capability with wireless transmission to the central web portal. Then, the central web portal will provide a platform for vehicle parking reservation system made online through a computer. This system also permits drivers to make a reservation on available parking slots utilizing ID code keyed in for authentication and several indicators to denote availability, non-availability and reservation status at the parking slot. The communication technologies used has to upload and download information to and from the web. This work has shown that the development was successful for a single floor parking system and can be upgraded to multi-storey parking complex

Energy consumption is a vital issue in the house. Nowadays, people tend to ignore their energy consumption in their house. Its shows lack of awareness among the homeowner to the campaign on energy efficiency. Besides, the monthly bill only come up with the total cost and total energy consumed in the house. The homeowner is not able to identify which home appliance contributes the most to the energy usage. The main objective of this project is to develop a prototype of Internet of Things (IoT) smart home automation. The system consists of network architecture, MQTT protocol using ESP8266 NodeMcu development board, and provide the user interface for the user to monitor real-time data, based on the sensor with the internet connection. This project introduces the design of a controller that implement IoT concept where home appliances can be controlled remotely only by using smart devices such as laptop or smartphone. An infrared motion sensor is used to as a security system where it detect trespasser and will trigger an alarm. As a result, the prototype design is able to monitor real-time data from the sensor and control through the smartphone with internet connectivity. The significance of this project, the homeowner able to monitor energy consumption and control home appliance real-time from a distant location. A lot more field need to be explored to bring the concept of the IoT. Finally, with the utilization of the technology, it can be a benefit to the society and improved people's life for the better

Improving PBL in Empowering Meta cognitive Skill of Students

Abstract Objective: Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a potential constructivist learning strategy that empowers students’ Meta cognitive skill. PBL focuses on problem, involves thinking activity to solve problems, and correlates to cognitive function of students. Methods: The implementation of PBL reveals various benefits, but there are also some weaknesses in this learning strategy. Thus, it is necessary to implement a certain learning strategy that can cover the PBL weaknesses, such as Reading, Questioning, and Answering (RQA) learning strategy. RQA is a new learning strategy developed based on a fact that almost all students do not read the next lecture materials, causing failure of learning strategy planned and finally the students’ comprehension becomes low. RQA is also potential to empower students’ Meta cognitive skill. Findings: The integration of RQA and PBL learning strategy is called PBL-RQA learning strategy. This study was a quasi-experimental study designed to compare the effect of PBL, RQA, and PBL-RQA learning strategies on the students’ Meta cognitive skill of Faculty of Mathematics and Science, State University of Makassar. Application: The results of the study showed that the potency of PBL learning strategy in empowering the students’ Meta cognitive skill has been increased by integrating it to RQA learning strategy. The meta cognitive skill mean score of the students taught by PBL-RQA learning strategy was 21% higher than that of the students taught by PBL and 26.9% higher than that of the students taught by RQA learning strategy. Keywords: Answering, Meta Cognitive Skill, Problem-Based Learning, Questioning, Reading, PBL-RQ

Effect of acidic and alkaline treatments to methylene blue adsorption from aqueous solution by coconut shell activated carbon

In recent years, pollution from dye wastewater becomes a serious environmental problem due to the high demand and the increment of dye application in textile industry. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential application of coconut shell activated carbon as methylene blue (MB) removal from aqueous solution. The carbonization process was conducted in temperature range from 300 to 500 °C. For the activation process, two different activating agents namely phosphoric acid, H3PO4 (acid activating agent) and sodium hydroxide, NaOH (basic activating agent) were used. Physical characterization of coconut shell activated carbon (CSAC) was realized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) for phase identification. After that, the percentage of dye removal was investigated in order to determine the adsorption capacity of the prepared activated carbon. It can be concluded that when the dosage of CSAC increased, the amount of dye removal would also be increased. The results indicated that the coconut shell activated carbon could be employed as a low cost alternative in controlling wide range of sorption processes

A Review of the Resistance Mechanisms for <i>β</i>-Lactams, Macrolides and Fluoroquinolones among <i>Streptococcus pneumoniae</i>

Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) is a bacterial species often associated with the occurrence of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). CAP refers to a specific kind of pneumonia that occurs in individuals who acquire the infection outside of a healthcare setting. It represents the leading cause of both death and morbidity on a global scale. Moreover, the declaration of S. pneumoniae as one of the 12 leading pathogens was made by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2017. Antibiotics like β-lactams, macrolides, and fluoroquinolones are the primary classes of antimicrobial medicines used for the treatment of S. pneumoniae infections. Nevertheless, the efficacy of these antibiotics is diminishing as a result of the establishment of resistance in S. pneumoniae against these antimicrobial agents. In 2019, the WHO declared that antibiotic resistance was among the top 10 hazards to worldwide health. It is believed that penicillin-binding protein genetic alteration causes β-lactam antibiotic resistance. Ribosomal target site alterations and active efflux pumps cause macrolide resistance. Numerous factors, including the accumulation of mutations, enhanced efflux mechanisms, and plasmid gene acquisition, cause fluoroquinolone resistance. Furthermore, despite the advancements in pneumococcal vaccinations and artificial intelligence (AI), it is not feasible for individuals to rely on them indefinitely. The ongoing development of AI for combating antimicrobial resistance necessitates more research and development efforts. A few strategies can be performed to curb this resistance issue, including providing educational initiatives and guidelines, conducting surveillance, and establishing new antibiotics targeting another part of the bacteria. Hence, understanding the resistance mechanism of S. pneumoniae may aid researchers in developing a more efficacious antibiotic in future endeavors
