    Comparison of Game-Related Statistics in Men\u27s International Championships between Winning and Losing Teams according to Margin of Victory

    The aims of this study were (i) to compare water polo game-related statistics by game outcome (winning and losing teams) and margins of victory (close games, unbalanced games, and very unbalanced games), and (ii) to identify characteristics that mark the differences in performances for each group of margin of victory. The game-related statistics of the 308 men\u27s matches played in seven International Championships (Olympic Games, World and European Championships) were analysed. A cluster analysis established three groups (close games, unbalanced games, and very unbalanced games) according to the margin of victory. Differences between game outcomes (winning or losing teams) and margins of victory (close, unbalanced, and very unbalanced games) were determined using the chi-squared statistic, also calculating the effect sizes of the differences. A discriminant analysis was then performed applying the sample-splitting method according to game outcome (winning and losing teams) by margin of victory. It was found that the game-related statistics differentiate the winning from the losing teams in each final score group, with 7 (offensive and defensive) variables differentiating winners from losers in close games, 16 in unbalanced games, and 11 in very unbalanced games. In all three types of game, the game-related statistics were shown to discriminate performance (85% or more), with two variables being discriminatory by game outcome (winning or losing teams) in all three cases: shots and goalkeeper-blocked shots

    U radu su analizirani financijski pokazatelji cementne industrije u Hrvatskoj, uz usporedbu u odnosu na industriju ostalih nemetalnih mineralnih proizvoda (NMP) te gospodarstvo Hrvatske u cjelini. Financijski pokazatelji proizvodnosti, aktivnosti, zaduženosti i profitabilnosti analizirani su za 2013. godinu, dok su pokazatelji likvidnosti i ekonomičnosti analizirani za razdoblje od 2009. do 2013. godine. Prema pokazateljima proizvodnosti i profitabilnosti, cementna je industrija u boljem položaju u odnosu na gospodarstvo Hrvatske i industriju ostalih NMP-a. Koeficijenti obrtaja ukupne imovine cementne industrije niži su u odnosu na industriju ostalih NMP-a i gospodarstvo Hrvatske, dok drugi pokazatelji aktivnosti pokazuju bolje vrijednosti. Zaduženost cementne industrije niža je u odnosu na prosjek gospodarstva Hrvatske, ali je struktura ročnosti izvora financiranja neadekvatna.     Risk Factors Influencing Non-Use of Condoms at Sexual Relations in Populations under Heightened Risk

    To determine risk factors for non-use of condoms when engaging in sexual intercourse among high-risk population groups for acquiring HIV/STIs. We collected the data obtained by interviews in the period from 2005 to 2011 in the Voluntary Counseling and Testing Center for HIV/AIDS at the Institute of Public Health of Zadar County. Four hundred ninety four respondents were divided into risk and control groups. The majority of the respondents in our population does not consistently use condoms, in the risk group as much as 89.9%, and in the control group 65.7% of them (p<0.001). Persons consuming alcohol when having sexual relations use condoms about 5× less often compared to those not consuming alcohol at all (OR=5.00; CI=1.69-14.29). There are significant differences among women and men in the risk group regarding reasons for non-use of condoms. The main reason with women is »I trust my partners« 33.7% while men “»do not like having sex with condoms« 53.6% of them (p<0.001). The main risk factors for non-use of condoms are alcohol consumption at sexual relations, non-use of condoms in a casual relationship.     Kriza u sustavu koji je prepoznatljivi pod terminom kritične infrastrukture ima poseban značaj zbog svoje važnosti, odnosno utjecaja na funkcioniranje cijelog društva. Nakon što se dogodi neki neželjeni događaj, često si postavljamo pitanje: „Kako se to moglo dogoditi?” U takvim situacijama nerijetko prebacujemo teret krivnje na druge osobe ili okolnosti. Zdravstveni sektor područje je visokog rizika jer štetni događaji mogu izazvati smrt, ozbiljna oštećenja, komplikacije i patnje pacijenata. Zbog svega toga sigurnost pacijenata za vrijeme pružanja zdravstvene zaštite trenutačno je jedno od glavnih pitanja u kreiranju zdravstvene politike Europske unije, ali i ostalih država svijeta. Ulaganje u sigurnost pacijenata može generirati uštede u troškovima udružene s očitom korišću za pacijente. Usmjerenost na sigurnost pacijenata vodi uštedama u liječenju pacijenata izloženih štetnim događajima i posljedično poboljšano korištenje financijskim resursima. Realni planovi reagiranja zdravstvenih ustanova za široki spektar kriznih situacija prigoda su za uvođenje promjena u organizaciji. S jedne strane zdravstvene ustanove predstavljaju važan segment pripravnosti i planiranja u kriznim situacijama, dok su s druge strane opterećene nedovoljnim brojem djelatnika, lošom komunikacijom, neadekvatnom obukom i birokratskim preprekama. Pitanje sigurnosti u zdravstvu može se znatno unaprijediti educiranjem zdravstvenih djelatnika o kriznom menadžmentu zdravstva koji bi dao uvid u djelovanje zdravstvenog sustava u kriznim situacijama, učinkovito planiranje (prevenciju, djelovanje i oporavak od mogućne krize) i razumijevanje međuovisnosti kriza zdravstvenog sustava, kriza zdravstvenih organizacija i kriza društva u kojem se očekuje da zdravstveni sustav djeluje učinkovito kao element održivosti društva.A crisis in a system that is defined as critical infrastructure is particularly significant because of its importance or influence on the functioning of the whole society. Once an unwanted event occurs, we often ask: “How could this happen?”. In such situations, we often shift the burden of guilt to other persons or circumstances. The health sector is a high-risk area because harmful events can cause death, serious injury, complications, and patient suffering. For these reasons, patient safety in health care is currently one of the major issues in creating the health care policy of the European Union, but also in other countries of the world. Investing in patient safety can not only benefit the patients, but also reduce the costs. Focusing on patient safety leads to savings in the treatment of patients exposed to adverse events and consequently improves the use of financial resources. The preparation of realistic health care response plans for a wide range of crisis situations is also an opportunity to implement changes in the organization. On the one hand, health care facilities are an important part of preparedness and crisis planning, but on the other hand, they are burdened with insufficient staffing, poor communication, inadequate training and bureaucratic obstacles. The issue of security in health care can be significantly improved by educating health professionals about crisis management in order to provide an insight into the functioning of the health system in crisis situations, crises that can occur in the health organization, and effective planning (prevention, action and recovery from a potential crisis). Another objective is to understand the interdependence of the crisis in the health system, the crisis of health organizations and the crisis of society within which the health system is expected to function effectively as an element of social sustainability

    Torakalna epiduralna analgezija za radikalnu cistektomiju pospješuje funkciju crijeva i u tradicionalnoj perioperacijskoj skrbi

    Radical cystectomy is associated with significant morbidity and mortality due to complex surgery and comorbidities associated with advanced age of patients. In contrast to the surgery, which is clearly the procedure of choice for patients with invasive bladder cancer, the optimal anesthesiologic method is still under debate. Therefore, we retrospectively analyzed 85 patients having undergone radical cystectomy at our institution, either under combined epidural-general anesthesia (CEG A) or opioid based general anesthesia (GA). The intraoperative blood loss was significantly lower in CEG A group (497.37±354.13) than in GA group (742.31±403.69; p=0.006), due to induced hypotension. Consequently, blood transfusion requirements were lower in CEG A group (107.20±263.92) than in GA group (388.18±321.32; p=0.001). The incidence of postoperative ileus was also lower in CEG A group (p=0.024). There was no difference in analgesic efficacy, but a trend towards lower incidence of venous thrombosis and infection was noticed. The results of our study suggest that epidural anesthesia might have specific advantages in patients undergoing radical cystectomy.Radikalna cistektomija je praćena značajnom smrtnošću i pobolom zbog složenog kirurškog zahvata i komorbiditeta povezanog sa starijom dobi bolesnika. Za razliku od kirurškog zahvata koji je bez dvojbe metoda izbora za invazivni karcinom mokraćnog mjehura, optimalna metoda anestezije još je predmet rasprave. Stoga smo retrospektivno analizirali 85 bolesnika koji su u našoj ustanovi podvrgnuti zahvatu radikalne cistektomije u kombiniranoj torakalnoj epiduralnoj i općoj anesteziji ili u općoj anesteziji baziranoj na opioidima. Intraoperacijski gubitak krvi bio je značajno niži u skupini na kombiniranoj torakalnoj epiduralnoj i općoj anesteziji (497,37±354,13) nego u skupini na općoj anesteziji baziranoj na opioidima (742,31±403,69, p=0,006). Posljedično, količina transfundirane krvi bila je značajno niža u skupini koja je imala torakalnu epiduralnu anesteziju (107,20±263,92) nego u skupini na općoj anesteziji (388,18±321,32, p=0,001). Incidencija poslijeoperacijskog ileusa također je bila niža u skupini na kombiniranoj anesteziji (p=0,024). Nije uočena razlika u analgetskoj učinkovitosti, ali je zabilježen trend prema nižoj incidenciji venske tromboze i poslijeoperacijskih infekcija u skupini na kombiniranoj anesteziji. Rezultati naše studije impliciraju da bi torakalna epiduralna analgezija mogla imati specifične prednosti kod bolesnika podvrgnutih zahvatu radikalne cistektomije

    Rad se bavi značajem upravljanja timom u projektnom menadžmentu. Utvrđeno je da projektni tim ima veliki značaj za poduzeća u kojima se često odvijaju projekti. Na kraju, i sami voditelji projekta dio su tog procesa. Zbog toga se učinkovit i siguran tim smatra vrlo važnim za rast i razvoj poduzeća. Upravljanje projektnim timom odnosi se na procese praćenja učinkovitosti, rješavanja problema i upravljanja promjenama. Ishod upravljanja timom su zahtjevi za promjenom, ažuriranjem plana resursa i baze znanja, ocjenjivanjem rada te rješavanjem problema. Ono zahtijeva različite vještine upravljanja za poticanje tima, a posebna se pozornost pridaje komunikaciji, upravljanju sukobima, vodstvu i pregovaranju. Isto tako, voditelj treba znati kada i kako nagraditi pojedince prema zaslugama. Projektni menadžer mora učinkovito pregovarati i utjecati na druge sudionike koji su u mogućnosti osigurati potrebne ljudske resurse za projekt. Neuspješno okupljanje potrebnih ljudskih resursa može utjecati na tijek projekta, odnosno na raspored, budžet, rizik, kvalitetu, a samim tim i na zadovoljstvo korisnika.The paper discusses the importance of team management in project management. It has been established that the project team is of great importance for companies in which projects often take place and the project managers themselves are part of that process. For this reason, an effective and safe team is considered very important for the growth and development of the company. Managing a project team refers to the processes of performance monitoring, problem solving and change management. The outcome of team management are requests for change, updates of the resource plans and knowledge bases, evaluation of the work and solving of the problems. It requires different management skills to encourage team, with particular attention to communication, conflict management, leadership and negotiation. Likewise, the leader sholud know when and how to reward individuals according to their merits. The project manager must effectively negotiate and influence other participants who are able to secure the necessary human recources for the project. Unsuccessful gathering of the necessary human recources can affect the course of the project, i.e. the schedule, budget, risk, quality and thus ultimately customer satisfaction

    Referentne kamatne stope važne su i korisne u podržavanju financijske stabilnosti i funkcioniranju financijskih tržišta. Nakon otkrivenih manipulacija referentnim kamatnim stopama za vrijeme globalne financijske krize 2008. godine, uslijedile su duboke reforme metodologije. Prije reformi se izračun referentnih kamatnih stopa temeljio na procijenjenim ponudbenim kamatnim stopama panel banaka na neosigurane depozite na međubankovnom tržištu, dok se danas slijedi hibridna metodologija kojoj su temelj realizirane transakcije panel banaka. Međutim, zbog pada aktivnosti na europskom neosiguranom i međubankovnom tržištu novca i visoke ovisnosti o doprinosu panel banaka u metodologiji izračuna, pojavila se inicijativa za identifikacijom i preporukom alternativnih stopa gotovo bez rizika nerizičnih kamatnih stopa koje bi mogle poslužiti kao alternativa trenutnim referentnim vrijednostima u europodručju. Takve alternativne stope gotovo bez rizika bile bi usidrene na aktivnim i likvidnim tržištima. Iako se u Republici Hrvatskoj, zbog nedovoljne razvijenosti tržišta novca, još nije razvila takva inicijativa, potencijalan budući razvoj alternativnih kamatnih stopa doprinio bi porastu transparentnosti i standardizaciji financijskih tržišta. U praktičnom dijelu se metodama deskripcije i kompilacije objašnjavaju uvjeti i izazovi na globalnim financijskim tržištima koji su doveli do bitnih reformi referentnih kamatnih stopa. Nakon toga se pregledavaju aktivnosti na hrvatskom i europskom tržištu novca i metodama deskripcije i komparacije objašnjava metodologija izračuna ključnih referentnih kamatnih stopa tih tržišta. Analizom statističkih podataka i publikacija važnih relevantnih institucija se iznose podaci o dosadašnjim kretanjima kamatnih stopa. U konačnici, induktivnim i deduktivnim metodama dolazi se do zaključaka o potrebi i pozitivnim učincima uvođenja alternativnih referentnih kamatnih stopa.Reference interest rates play an important role in supporting financial stability and optimal functioning of financial markets. After manipulation scandal during the global financial crises in 2008., profound reforms of the methodology followed. Before reforms, calculation of reference interest rates was based on the offered interest rates on unsecured deposits in interbank market. Nowadays, hybrid calculation methodologies based on actual transactions of selected banks are used. However, due to decreased unsecured and interbank activity on euro money market and high sensitivity of the methodology on the contribution of panel banks, the need for additional improvement appeared. Near – Risk free interest rates that could serve as an alternative to current reference values in the euro area were identified and recommended. Those near – Risk Free Rates would be created on active and liquid money markets. Although such initiative has not yet been developed in Croatia, possibility of its development could positively affect transparency and market standardization. In the practical part of the paper, the conditions and challenges in the global financial markets that led to important reforms of reference interest rates are explained using methods of description and compilation. An overview of Croatian and euro money markets follows. With comparative method, calculation methodologies of the key reference interest rates of those markets are be explained. Based on statistical data and publications of important relevant institutions, review and analysis of the past interest rates movements are given. In the end, inductive and deductive methods are used to reach conclusions about the need and positive effects of introducing alternative reference interest rates

    Glavni cilj ovog rada je istražiti važnost selekcijskih postupaka, koje metode poduzeća najčešće koriste te koje metode zaposleni smatraju najvažnijima za izbor zaposlenika. Primarni dio istraživanja sastoji se od dva dijela: istraživanje putem intervjua na primjeru poduzeća Kožul d.o.o. o njihovim praksama i metodama selekcije i istraživanje putem ankete koje pokazuje stavove i mišljena zaposlenih u različitim vrstama poslovnih subjekata o metodama koje su prošli prilikom zaposlenja. U prvom dijelu istraživanja je obrađena tvrtka Kožul d.o.o. te je opisan proces selekcije, metode selekcije koje koriste te općenito prakse koje provodi odjel ljudskih potencijala. Drugi dio istraživanja odnosi se na anketno istraživanje u kojemu je sudjelovalo 133 ispitanika i pitanja su usmjerena na najučestalije metode prilikom selekcijskog postupka, koje su metode ključne u izboru zaposlenika te mišljenje ispitanika o važnosti metoda prilikom izbora zaposlenika.The main goal of this research paper is to explore the importance of selection procedures, most commonly used selection methods and which methods employees consider the most important for employee selection. Human resources management, selection procedures and methods used in selection procedures are explained. The primary part of the research consists of two parts: research through interviews on the example of the company Kožul d.o.o. about their practices and methods of selection and research through a survey that shows the attitudes and opinions of employees in different types of business entities about the methods they went through during employment process. In the first part of the research the selection process, the selection methods and general practices implemented by the human resources department of the company Kožul d.o.o. are described. The second part of the research refers to a survey in which 133 respondents participated and the questions are focused on the most frequent methods during the selection process, which methods are key in selecting employees, and the respondents' opinion on the importance of methods during the selection of employees
